WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

We are hiring an entrepreneurial Engineering Manager to lead Qualia's Application Security team. This is a builder's role. You won't just run a team - you'll redesign how a modern AppSec function operates when AI can do the first pass on nearly everything we used to do by hand.

The team today owns secure design reviews, vulnerability triage, internal penetration testing, incident response support, and security tooling across a JavaScript/NodeJS and Kubernetes stack. Your mandate is to scale that surface area vertically - growing output and coverage per engineer - by making AI-assisted workflows the default. That means automated pen testing pipelines, AI-driven triage of findings from SAST/DAST/SCA, agentic review of engineering proposals and design docs, and continuous red-teaming exercises that test both our systems and our assumptions.

You'll partner closely with Platform, Infra, and product engineering leaders to embed security earlier in the development lifecycle, and you'll be the team's voice when we set the security vision for the next two years - including anomaly detection across production traffic, model-driven threat hunting, and how we defend against (and responsibly use) AI-enabled attackers.

Securing that platform - the money, the identities, and the documents flowing through it - is what the Application Security team does every day. We're hiring an Engineering Manager to lead this team into its next chapter: one where AI is a force multiplier for every part of our security program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and grow the Application Security team - coaching senior AppSec engineers, setting goals, and owning delivery against the security roadmap
• Build the automated pen-testing program. Stand up pipelines that run continuous, AI-assisted offensive testing against our services, APIs, and web properties - and turn the output into a triaged, actionable queue
• Scale triage with AI. Design the workflows and tooling that let the team handle 10x the volume of findings (bug bounty, scanner output, customer reports) without 10x the headcount
• Review engineering proposals. Sit at the front of the design process with engineering leaders across Core, Clear, Shield, Connect, and Atlas - reviewing RFCs and proposals, flagging risk early, and helping teams ship securely by default
• Run red-teaming exercises. Drive recurring red team engagements - both internal exercises and coordinated vendor work - and close the loop into detection, response, and product hardening
• Own the AppSec vision. Partner with the leadership team to set multi-quarter strategy across anomaly detection, threat modeling, and AI-augmented defense
• Fight fires when they happen. Lead incident response from the application security side, and be the person engineering trusts to make the call in the room
• Mentor and hire. Recruit strong AppSec engineers, mentor the ones you have, and build a team culture where people are pushed and supported in equal measure

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

• 5+ years as a security or full-stack engineer working on production systems, with 2+ years managing a security or platform engineering team
• Hands-on depth in application security: threat modeling, code review, and at least one offensive-security discipline (pen testing, red team)
• Track record of shipping automation that changed how a team worked - ideally including meaningful use of LLMs, agents, or ML in a security or engineering workflow
• Comfort operating across the full security lifecycle: prevention, detection, response, and recovery
• Strong written communication. You can write the design doc, the post-mortem, and the board-ready summary - and you can tell a product engineer why their proposal needs to change without shutting down the conversation
• Keen product sense and a bias toward measurable impact. You care whether the risk actually went down, not whether a ticket got closed
• Experience in fintech, real estate tech, or another regulated, high-liability domain preferred

We're hiring a Senior Application Security Engineer to join a small, high-leverage AppSec team. This is a deep-technical IC role with a staff-leaning scope: you'll set the technical direction and own delivery on how we find, fix, and prevent vulnerabilities across Qualia's products and cloud infrastructure, and you'll be the person other engineers want in the room when an architecture decision has a security dimension.

You'll partner daily with product engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams, and you'll work closely alongside our existing AppSec engineers - raising the technical bar of the team while staying deeply hands-on with code, tooling, and adversarial testing. This is the right role for someone who is as comfortable writing a Burp extension or a Semgrep rule as they are pairing with a product engineer to land a fix.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Run offensive assessments against Qualia's applications and infrastructure: manual penetration testing, exploit development, authenticated web/API testing, and adversarial review of new designs before they ship
• Lead threat modeling and secure design review for the highest-risk initiatives across the company, and mentor engineers to do the same for their own work
• Own and evolve our AppSec tooling stack end-to-end - SAST, DAST, SCA, secret scanning, IaC scanning, and the CI/CD gates that tie them together. Build the custom rules, detections, and automation that generic tooling doesn't give us
• Harden our cloud posture: review AWS configurations, IAM policies, Kubernetes/EKS workloads, and networking boundaries; build automation and guardrails that prevent the same class of issue from recurring
• Reduce toil for the team - write the tools, scripts, and integrations that turn a day of triage into a few minutes

Qualia is building payment solutions to simplify how money moves in real estate closings. You'll support our Compliance and Payment Operations function—supporting day-to-day payment execution, transaction monitoring, and issue resolution—while helping scale compliant, repeatable processes as the business grows. You’ll work closely with Compliance, Operations, Product, Engineering, Customer Support, and the sponsor-bank partner to ensure payment activity is executed in accordance with regulatory requirements, network rules, and internal controls.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Support our Compliance Management System (CMS) for embedded payments focused on governance, oversight, and operational execution
• Monitor payments activity across rails for ACH returns, transaction anomalies, and potential fraud, escalating issues in accordance with established procedures

• Handle any escalations related to customer onboarding, liaise with sponsor bank and address them within SLA. 
• Own daily payment operations workflows, including exception handling, returns management, and issue tracking
• Assist with internal and external audits by gathering evidence, validating controls, and ensuring adherence to documented policies and procedures   
• Ensure compliance with NACHA Operating Rules, Reg E, BSA/AML requirements , consumer protection obligations, and sponsor bank requirements

• Track and report on key operational and risk metrics, including ACH return rates, exception volumes, resolution timelines, and error trends.
• Analyze operational data to identify failure points or control gaps; partner with Product and Engineering to automate manual workflows and reduce transaction failure rates.
• Help draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payment flows, onboarding due diligence, and risk assessments.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

You will own the strategy and execution of Qualia’s largest revenue product line, Qualia Connect, a platform that brings together disparate parties across the ecosystem to operate in unison. This is a unique opportunity to lead at the intersection of a scaled, market-leading product and a rapidly evolving AI capability set. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set the vision and roadmap for the platform at scale. You will define a long-term product vision for our platform that deepens customer value, unlocks network effects across the real estate ecosystem, and extends our competitive moat. You’ll translate market dynamics, customer insights, and emerging technology into a clear roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that deliver step-change improvements in efficiency, collaboration, and user experience across our network of business customers and their counterparties
• Drive AI deeper into the platform offering. You will own the strategy for embedding AI and intelligent automation throughout the platform—identifying high-impact workflows ripe for transformation, defining what “agentic” experiences look like for our customers, and ensuring that AI capabilities compound on each other to create durable differentiation
• Unlock network effects and ecosystem growth. You will think expansively about how to increase the value of every connection in our network—building features and experiences that make our platform indispensable not only for our direct customers, but for every participant in the transaction. You’ll identify strategies to strengthen adoption, deepen engagement, and create virtuous cycles that accelerate growth
• Collaborate across disciplines. You will work across Engineering, Design, Operations, Customer Success, and Go-to-Market to align on product roadmap and deliver integrated solutions that meet both business objectives and customer needs. You will represent your product areas internally and externally—you must lead, inspire, and drive confidence in everyone from Qualia’s executive team to our largest enterprise customers
• Mentor and scale a product team. You will manage, hire, coach, and lead a team of product managers working across multiple product areas. You deeply care about your team’s growth and development, providing guidance while fostering autonomy. You will build a high-performance product culture that emphasizes ownership, intellectual rigor, and customer obsession
• Stay ahead of industry and technology trends. You will track developments in AI, vertical SaaS, platform ecosystems, and real estate technology. You’ll bring fresh ideas and best practices to Qualia, ensuring our platform and AI products remain at the forefront of innovation in proptech. You’ll stay in lockstep with our clients and find new ways to bring value to their business as they navigate changing regulatory and economic landscapes

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

• Have 8+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, vertical software, or platform businesses with at least 3+ years managing product managers. You have led product teams through periods of significant growth and platform evolution
• Have a track record of defining and executing product strategy that created durable competitive advantage, whether through network effects, platform ecosystems, or category-defining product experiences. You think in terms of systems and flywheels, not just features
• Have deep fluency in AI and its product applications. You understand how to translate emerging AI capabilities—including LLMs, agentic systems, and intelligent automation—into products that solve real customer problems. WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

The FP&A team at Qualia is the analytical engine of the Finance organization. We own the company’s planning and forecasting processes, serve as trusted business partners to functional leaders, and produce the financial insights that inform our most important strategic decisions—all in an environment where AI is actively reshaping how we work.

As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you will be a driving force across the organization for forecasts, annual planning, long-range planning, and critical financial analysis — partnering closely with leaders across Sales & Marketing, Customer Success, R&D and G&A to manage spend, track performance, and surface insights that shape how Qualia operates as we scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Elevate Qualia's financial rigor — drive deeper Budget vs. Actuals analysis and forecast precision via smarter, more data-driven modeling and tighter cross-functional collaboration, particularly in uncharted, high-impact areas
• Support monthly forecasting and reporting processes — analyze financial results, distill key trends, and communicate risks and opportunities to influence business outcomes; assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting including variance analysis, dashboards, and Board materials
• Build and own our growing playbook of financial models and reports, ensuring quality, timeliness, and accuracy across in-depth analyses of revenue and cost drivers
• Serve as a strategic business partner across the organization, evaluating organizational tradeoffs with clarity and a bias toward action to enable data-driven decision-making at the leadership level
• Strengthen operational infrastructure and continuously improve our financial planning processes — identify system and process improvements, build automation to reduce recurring manual effort, and scale our FP&A capabilities as the business grows
• Tackle new and evolving priorities, including ad hoc projects and analysis as business needs arise

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

• 3+ years of experience in FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Strategic Finance at a high-growth technology company or experience in Investment Banking or Consulting
• Strong financial modeling skills — Proficiency of Excel, ability to digest raw data, build and explain models from scratch, and work fluently across large, complex datasets
• Exceptional communicator — able to distill complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels
• Intellectually curious with a hunger to continuously up-level processes, tools, and approaches — you see problems as opportunities
• Highly organized and self-directed — comfortable managing multiple high-priority projects in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with minimal oversight
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail with a "get it done" attitude; equally effective as an individual contributor and team player
• Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to enhance analytical workflows — you don't need to be an AI expert, but you're curious and willing to adopt new tools to work smarter

Based in San Francisco, CA, with the ability to work in the office a minimum of two days per week is required. 

This role has a base annual salary of $120,000-$140,000 plus a competitive equity and benefits package. (Salary to be determined by relevant experience, location, knowledge, and skills of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

We are hiring an entrepreneurial Engineering Manager interested in being a part of our rapidly growing engineering team. Our engineers are conscientious hackers who like teamwork but are also comfortable with independent projects. Our engineering team releases new software every week, moves at a fast pace, and works directly with our design and customer-facing teams to imagine and build the new experiences our customers love. Because of that, you’ll get a rewarding variety of projects to work on.

As an Engineering Manager, you've been in the industry for a while and have a proven track record of success. You are comfortable leading complex, high-liability projects. You have experience making key architectural decisions and performing the research to back up those decisions. You've dealt with the consequences of your mistakes, and you know how to fight fires if necessary. You enjoy mentoring and providing support. You've thrived in different environments and realize that each team is unique.
