The Role
Prolific is seeking a Deal Desk & Solutions leader to architect and operationalize how complex AI data, evaluation, and managed service deals are scoped, priced, and closed. This role sits at the intersection of Sales, Product, Customer Success, and Operations, ensuring that enterprise and strategic deals are commercially viable, operationally deliverabl and strategically aligned with Prolific’s evolving platform and services model.
What you'll be doing in the role
- Partnering with Account Executives and Solutions Consultants to shape deal pricing and delivery structures for strategic and enterprise opportunities.
- Translating customer needs into clear, executable commercial proposals, including scope of work, delivery assumptions, and packaging (usage, subscription, and managed services).
- Introducing practical guardrails to improve deal velocity, win rate, and margin consistency.
- Leading cross-functional scoping with Operations and Quality/Research/Evaluation to ensure proposed solutions are deliverable and scalable.
- Validating delivery approach against Prolific’s workforce model (crowd, expert, hybrid), including realistic SLAs, QA standards, and resourcing assumptions.
- Building repeatable ways of scoping AI data and evaluation programs to reduce ambiguity and execution risk.
- Owning and iterating pricing frameworks, cost models, and rate cards across platform usage, managed services, and expert-led work.
- Driving consistency in deal economics by defining margin expectations, escalation paths, and approval thresholds.
- Acting as the connective tissue across Sales, Revenue Leadership, Operations/Delivery, and Quality to align on scope, resourcing, and timeline assumptions.
- Improving pre-sales → delivery handoffs through clear documentation, ownership, and readiness criteria.
- Building and scaling a formal Deal Desk function, including scoping templates, pricing calculators and approval frameworks
- Supporting deal review processes led by Revenue Leadership
- Creating repeatable workflows that reduce friction and ambiguity
- Advising Account Executives and Revenue Leadership on complex, high-value opportunities.
- Providing structuring recommendations, pricing guidance, and early risk identification (delivery, margin, and quality).
- Joining key deal cycles as a commercial and operational partner when needed.
What you’ll bring to the role
- 7+ years in Deal Desk, Commercial Strategy, RevOps, Solutions, or similar in a SaaS, data, or AI environment
- Experience structuring complex enterprise deals (usage-based, services, or hybrid models)
- Strong grounding in pricing, cost modeling, and margin management
- Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into clear, executable scopes of work
- Experience working cross-functionally across Sales, Product, and Delivery/Operations
- Proven ability to build or improve deal processes, pricing frameworks, or approval workflows
- Strong commercial judgment with a track record of identifying risk and improving deal quality
- Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leaders
Nice to have
- Experience in AI/ML, data services, or human-in-the-loop workflows
- Familiarity with usage-based or platform + services pricing models

The Role
As a Solutions Engineer you will be a trusted advisor and strategic partner across the pre-sales customer journey—from initial discovery through to Closed Won. You will work alongside frontier AI labs and enterprise customers, ensuring they understand and believe in the value of Prolific's human data offerings, and you will be the driving force behind building the trust and momentum needed to win their business.
This role sits at the intersection of sales and technology—owning solution scoping, proposal design, and AE partnership from first discovery through Closed Won, where you will hand off cleanly to our Services and Client Delivery teams. We are seeking a candidate who excels in customer-facing, consultative engagements and thrives in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to continuous learning, capable of innovative thinking, and skilled at collaborative problem-solving.
This is a hybrid/remote position that requires travel for both team meetings and customer engagements. While we are primarily targeting candidates in San Francisco, New York, or Mexico, we will consider exceptions for highly qualified individuals.
What You’ll Be Doing
Discovery & Qualification
- Conduct deep discovery sessions with AI researchers, technical program managers, and enterprise stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and strategic objectives
- Qualify opportunities and partner closely with Account Executives to build shared deal strategies that create customer trust and accelerate deal momentum
Solution Scoping & Proposal Design
- Deliver customized demonstrations and presentations that articulate value and competitive differentiation for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Design tailored, compelling solution proposals that directly address each customer’s unique evaluation or business needs, translating complex requirements into clear, high-impact proposals
- Collaborate with Account Executives and Services teams to build accurate, solution-specific pricing estimates—factoring in variables such as servicing needs, domain expertise requirements, task complexity, and participant time to ensure cost is clearly understood and credibly packaged into the proposal
- Drive the completion of RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires in collaboration with legal and engineering teams
Pre-Sales Technical Expertise
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact during the sales cycle, addressing complex questions related to data security, privacy, platform architecture, API integrations, participant quality and solution design.
- Consult on study design, technical setup, and participant calibration. Define success criteria upfront and provide ongoing guidance alongside your services counterparts to ensure pilots are positioned for outcomes that support a confident path to full engagement.
Post-Sales Collaboration & Handoff
- Lead the pre-sales process, partnering as needed with Services and Delivery leads throughout to ensure they are informed and aligned — and own a thorough handoff at Closed Won, documenting requirements, success criteria, and scope commitments clearly
- Remain available to post-sales teams for clarification on what was scoped or sold during early delivery, without ongoing delivery responsibility
- Participate in customer retros and ongoing delivery check-ins to identify gaps between sold and delivered value, feeding insights back into future solutioning
Product & Engineering Collaboration
- Serve as the voice of the customer internally—translating patterns from discovery and competitive conversations into actionable insights that influence product roadmap, solutions design, and integration feasibility discussions with engineering
- Partner with product and engineering to evaluate feasibility of custom integrations and emerging use cases raised during the pre-sales process
Market Awareness & Continuous Learning
- Stay current with developments in AI research, RLHF, synthetic data, and the broader ecosystem—sharing competitive intelligence and market trends with the team to sharpen positioning and inform go-to-market strategy
- Bring a growth mindset to every engagement, continuously building expertise in AI techniques, human feedback methodologies, and customer industry dynamics
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who combines technical depth, strategic instincts, and genuine enthusiasm for the role that human data plays in building better AI.
- 4+ years in a customer-facing solutions engineering, consulting, or pre-sales role within a SaaS or data/AI environment
- Demonstrated experience working with both frontier AI/research organizations and enterprise customers across a full sales cycle
- Strong understanding of API design, web technologies, data transfer and security protocols, and cloud architecture
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts clearly for executives, researchers, developers, and program managers alike
- Proven ability to scope and execute proof-of-concept projects, manage pilot programs, and navigate technical validation activities
- Experience owning a clean pre-to-post-sales handoff — able to document scope, expectations, and success criteria clearly for delivery teams at the point of deal close
- A collaborative spirit and ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams
- An appetite for continuous learning and problem solving; you actively seek out new knowledge, adapt quickly to change, and bring creative thinking to customer challenges
- Passion for AI and genuine curiosity about the evolving role of human feedback in model development
