Your Profile: 

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering in high-growth startups, ideally in legal tech, fintech, or other highly regulated industries
• 5+ years of experience leading and scaling (3–5x) high-performing engineering teams, ideally from Series A/B to scale-up stage
• Outstanding technical expertise in backend (Python), cloud infrastructure, and data platforms, ideally combined with frontend experience (React)
• Strong hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, including LLM orchestration and RAG architectures
• Clear perspective on how to leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) in modern software development organizations
• Strong product mindset with a proven ability to translate business goals into engineering strategy
• Excellent communication skills in Italian and English (both fluent)

Please note that this position is based in Milan. Hybrid setups are possible, provided frequent travel is possible.

In this role, you’ll:

Your Profile: 

• 3–5 years of experience as a backend or full-stack engineer, with exposure to AI/ML integrations
• Solid programming skills in Java (Spring Boot) and familiarity with Python for data processing or AI integration
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or BigQuery) and writing efficient queries
• Comfortable working with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and CI/CD tooling
• Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and microservices
• Interest or experience in building AI-enabled products (e.g., OpenAI API, fine-tuning models, prompt engineering)
• Strong communicator able to explain technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

In this role, you’ll:

• Take ownership of complex backend systems from design through production — including architecture, implementation, and long-term maintenance
• Lead technical discussions, drive engineering decisions, and document trade-offs clearly for the team

Your Profile

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience, with a track record of owning critical systems in production
• Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and strong familiarity with Python; comfortable navigating a polyglot codebase
• Proven experience designing distributed systems — event-driven architecture, microservices, data pipelines
• Strong command of PostgreSQL and experience working with cloud-native infrastructure on AWS
• Someone who has been through hypergrowth or scale challenges and has the scars and instincts to show for it
• A multiplier: you make the engineers around you better through your presence, feedback, and technical clarity
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity — you can shape requirements, not just execute on them

• Comfortable with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and modeling complex, interrelated business domains
• Pragmatic approach to distributed systems — you understand trade-offs around consistency, availability, and latency
• Exposure to third-party API integrations and the messiness that comes with legacy and external systems

Engineering Leadership

• Scale a high-performance engineering organization that ships with discipline and speed.
• Develop a senior technical leadership layer, with strong talents who own architectural domains, not just sprint tickets.
• Structure governance frameworks for outsourced engineering - quality gates, integration standards, code review requirements, and security baselines that don't create a two-tier codebase.
• Introduce clear ownership models: every system has an owner; every incident has an accountable team; every architectural decision has a record.

Your Profile: 

Hard requirements:

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 in senior technical leadership at scale-ups or high-growth companies.
• Demonstrated experience building and operating multi-agent AI systems in production - not prototype or research contexts.
• Deep backend and distributed systems expertise: event streaming, microservices, API design, database scaling, observability stacks.
• Experience operating AI systems in regulated or high-stakes commercial environments - where model behavior has financial or operational consequences.
• Track record of scaling engineering teams from 10 to 30+ people, including developing internal technical leadership.
• Familiarity with fintech infrastructure - credit systems, payment flows, or embedded finance is a meaningful advantage.
