Fixed income execution trader on a discretionary macro portfolio management team focused on mortgage-backed securities, TBAs, and specified pool markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and enhance tools for analysis of MBS/MBS option and spec pool trading.

A discretionary macro investment team is looking to add a fundamental analyst/strategist in rates and FX, focused primarily on Southeast Asian emerging markets.

What you’ll do

• Work with PM to formulate and develop trade ideas across Southeast Asian FX and rates markets
• Develop and maintain sell-side relationships
• Assist in portfolio and risk management
• Conduct ongoing fundamental research to support and enhance the investment activities of the group

What’s required

• 10-12 years of experience in fixed income in a strategy or analyst role at a top tier hedge fund, asset manager, or bank
• Highly knowledgeable about Southeast Asian emerging markets
• Knowledge and ability to work throughout the trade-cycle: completing risk-assessment analysis, trade structuring and implementation to the point of execution
• Deep understanding of technical details and idiosyncrasies related to the fixed income markets in these countries
• Strong competency in Excel and VBA, and preferably strong programming skills in a common language such as Python

Role:

The Quant Researcher will report to a Stamford based Portfolio Manager and will focus on:

• Building, running, and maintaining power dispatch model for ERCOT and other major US ISOs
• Driving the model’s inputs and architecture to efficiently simulate power grid conditions and marginal pricing
• Continuously testing and improving the model, ensuring it accurately replicates historical conditions and effectively analyzes forward scenarios
• Communicating the model’s results and limitations to the wider investment team

Responsibilities:

• Formulate and build a power dispatch model using Python and a commercial solver
• Collaborate with the PM to optimize model inputs and architecture
• Ensure the model replicates grid operations from historical conditions
• Suggest model improvements to decrease forecast error and improve scenario handling
• Regularly run the model and maintain up-to-date outputs in an internal database
• Communicate results and limitations to the wider investment team, including publishing results to team dashboards

Requirements:

• Master or PhD in operations research, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• 5+ years of direct experience building power dispatch models (SCUC/SCED) using optimization solvers (Gurobi, CPLEX, etc.)
• Knowledge of power plant dispatch, grid operations (including capacity and AS obligations), and LMP pricing in US power markets
• Experience using SQL and timeseries databases
• Proficiency in Python and Git; additional experience with an OOP language a strong plus
• Domain knowledge in ERCOT, PJM, or CAISO preferred

• Synthesize market information and develop thematic trade ideas across sectors.
• Develop differentiated investment views from consensus and push conviction or contrarian viewpoints.
• Monitor existing positions, including news-flow, fundamental developments, and supply.
• Engage and maintain external relationships (sell-side research, syndicate, company management, ratings agencies) to develop views on issuers.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3-6 years of experience in credit research or trading on the buy-side or sell-side, ideally as a desk analyst or trader.
• Experience building full three statement models (forward/backward), including all key KPIs.
• Direct experience reviewing credit agreements and bond indentures in order to understand corporate balance sheet flexibility.

About the Team:

The Discretionary Global Macro trading desk is currently a 10-member team split between New York, London, and Hong Kong. The primary focus of the team is best-execution cross asset and timely and accurate trade booking in support of all 55 macro pods Point72 has globally covering Interest Rates, FX, Commodities, Credit and Equities. The team works directly with our PMs and Analysts in each pod to sourced liquidity, provide relevant market commentary and serve as a liaison with various internal partners including business, operations, margin, compliance and legal.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the macro trading team traders in the region assisting in all aspects of a trade lifecycle from pre-trade checks to execution and trade-booking
• Be responsible for position maintenance (e.g. swap unwinds, bilateral novations) and be the point person working with the back office in reconciliation
• Develop strong relationships with a broad set of liquidity providers and trading counterparties
• Participate in the development of the group’s trade capture systems and tools for both existing products and expansion products

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of work experience preferred
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in assessing and determining how to handle high volumes of queries and issues

Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trader/Quant Analyst with a strong background in trading and data analysis to join our investment team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in convertible securities (or equity/FX/rates derivatives), relative value trading strategies, and quant data analysis. The role will combine active trading and risk management and quantitative analysis to identify and execute profitable opportunities in the convertible space.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Identify relative value opportunities between convertible bonds, the underlying equity, and credit derivatives.
• Execute trades in convertible securities, related equities, and hedges in alignment with investment theses and risk parameters.
• Manage existing positions proactively, assessing changes in valuation, liquidity, and market sentiment.
• Conduct in-depth quant data analysis on the convertible bond universe, including historical pricing and valuation.
• Model and evaluate convertible securities across multiple scenarios, analyzing risks related to credit, interest rates, volatility, and equity sensitivity.
• Build front-office tools to analyze convert universe data for idea generation, trade optimization, and risk management.
• Coordinate with the portfolio manager and risk team to size positions appropriately and adhere to pre-defined risk limits.
• Track and analyze P&L drivers on a daily basis and provide attribution reports.
• Hedge exposures dynamically using equity, credit, and derivative instruments.
• Work closely with other analysts, traders, and portfolio managers across strategies to share insights and generate synergies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or CFA preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in convertible bond trading with a quant/programming skillset.
• Strong understanding of credit markets, bond math, equity derivatives, and volatility analysis.
• Proficiency in modeling convertible securities and scenario analysis.
• Familiarity with risk management systems and trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Tradeweb).
• Strong analytical and quantitative data skills; proficiency in Excel and at least one programming language (Python, R, VBA) is required.
