Director, Product Marketing 

At Pattern Bioscience, we’re tackling antibiotic resistance, one of the biggest public health challenges of our time.  We use machine learning and microfluidics to quickly identify the bacteria causing an infection and to predict which drugs will cure the infection. Our mission is to reinvent the clinical microbiology lab using our novel, game-changing technology. 

To accomplish our mission, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Director of Product Marketing comfortable in the startup, biotech environment to own and execute strategic and tactical product marketing. The role is ideal for someone who takes pride in launching new, innovative diagnostic products and driving market growth and expansion. You will be responsible for leading product marketing while owning product launch, defining product vision, working closely with Sales and supporting revenue growth and customer satisfaction. This role is for you if you enjoy the process of fostering a new paradigm in infectious disease diagnostics.  

How You Will Contribute  

Immediate Priorities: 

• Own the launch of Pattern’s Pneumonia ID/AST solution, including positioning, messaging, sales training and tools, pricing and other launch related deliverables 

• Support the sales organization and customers by providing technical information about products, technology, or other issues requiring marketing input or assistance 

• Serve as the company expert with respect to disease state, standard of care, clinical and economic data, competition, and market access. Ensure routine and real-time communication of updates to the field, senior management and customer support organizations. 

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with KOLs, corporate partners and VIP customers that will drive platform adoption and endorsements 

• Responsible for lifecycle management for product lines including tracking success and managing resolution of issues 

• Lead the development of the marketing department and manage direct reports  

• Support the product development organization by representing the voice of the customer throughout the entire life cycle of the system 

Other Opportunities: 

• Create strategic and tactical marketing plans to drive growth for existing and new lines of business 

• Perform market research and gather customer feedback in order to define, prioritize and develop corresponding justifications for market requirements of new products 

• Manage the assigned marketing budget to ensure spending is gated appropriately and budget is not exceeded 

• Contribute to the company strategic planning and annual planning/budgeting process.

Desired Education and Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Microbiology or related field required. MBA or advanced technical degree (MS, PhD) preferred.  

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial roles in clinical diagnostics required.  

• Experience in infectious disease diagnostics and launching new, innovative products highly preferred 

• Thorough knowledge of US Hospital Diagnostic Lab customer profile and purchasing process 

• Experience with US market access, clinical outcome and economic business case marketing is a plus 

• Experience in and comfort with pre-revenue startups is a plus

To accomplish our mission, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Head of Commercial comfortable in the startup, biotech environment to own revenue generation, market strategy and growth. The role is ideal for someone who takes pride in driving market adoption of new, innovative diagnostic products. You will be responsible for leading commercial strategy across sales, marketing, market access, clinical value and customer engagement. This role is for you if you enjoy owning the creation of a team and executing at a high-level.  

How You Will Contribute 

Immediate Priorities: 

• Develop and execute the Go-to-Market plan for Pattern’s Pneumonia ID/AST solution 

• Build and manage Sales, Marketing, Customer Service & Support teams and work cross-functionally with all other departments to ensure effective commercial execution 

• Own revenue generation and leverage best-practices in creating and managing performance metrics, funnel development, forecasting and clinical implementation 

• Develop tailored value messaging to key stakeholders in hospitals leveraging workflow, clinical and health-economic value to drive hospital adoption 

• Lead engagement and negotiation with major IDNs and GPOs and C-suite to secure system-wide approval and master agreements 

• Track customer satisfaction, engagement, and product quality and leverage data to drive ongoing product improvement aligned with driving revenue and profitability 

Other Opportunities: 

• Lead pricing, reimbursement, KOL engagement, guidelines and health-economic education to drive customer demand for Pattern’s solutions 

• Own company strategy and product roadmap to drive revenue growth and company value creation 

• Develop and own commercial expansion via alternate channels outside the US 

• Work closely with regulatory and medical affairs on evidence generation tailored to driving revenue growth and market expansion 

• Own the commercial budget and contribute to both annual and long-range revenue and budget planning

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in commercial roles in diagnostics, medtech, life sciences required.  

• Demonstrated success building and scaling commercial functions in early-stage or high-growth environment and achieving revenue goals. 

• Experience operating in startup or venture-backed environments with limited infrastructure and evolving strategy 

• Experience in infectious disease diagnostics and launching new, innovative products highly preferred 

• Thorough knowledge of US Hospital Diagnostic Lab customer profile and purchasing process with experience selling to IDNs and working with GPO 

• Experience launching products that require behavior change and clinical pathway integration is a plus 

• Experience in and comfort with pre-revenue startups is a plus

To accomplish our mission, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Head of Sales - comfortable in the startup, biotech environment to own hospital adoption and revenue growth. The role is ideal for someone who takes pride in building a consistent and effective commercial engine. You will be responsible for direct enterprise selling and building a high-performance team to drive market adoption across hospital systems. This role is for you if you enjoy improving the standard of care in hospitals by selling clinical and economic value. 

How You Will Contribute 

Immediate Priorities: 

• Deliver early revenue traction and adoption in flagship health systems for new product launches 
• Build a process driven Sales team with performance metrics aligned to funnel progression and effective value creation to key stakeholders 
• Demonstrate clear clinical, operational and economic value to hospital stakeholders across lab leadership, pharmacy/antibiotic stewardship, clinicians, value analysis committees and C-suite 
• Navigate and develop strategies to leverage hospital budgeting, IDN and GPO contracting structures 
• Ensure entire team is adequately trained and effective at messaging patient outcome, workflow efficiency, antimicrobial stewardship benefits and cost savings/avoidance value of Pattern’s solutions 
• Recruit, develop and retain top talent aligned with the unique realities of early-stage company and launch of innovative Dx solutions 
• Develop key reference accounts and effectively leverage these to drive sales expansion 

Other Opportunities: 

• Drive multi-site expansion of Pattern’s solutions across IDNs and GPOs 
• Implement CRM discipline, funnel stage action plans and data input accuracy 
• Own key commercial performance metrics to deliver operational excellence in forecasting, sales cycle improvement and Sales Rep productivity 
• Assist with designing territories, compensation structures, and hiring plans aligned to growth milestones and cash efficiency 
• Represent the company with credibility at industry conferences and VIP engagements. 
• Provide structured market feedback to inform pricing, packaging, and product roadmap decisions.

• Proven success launching novel technologies into hospital and fluency in value-based selling. Experience in infectious disease diagnostics is highly preferred. 
• Experience operating in startup or venture-backed environments with limited infrastructure and evolving strategy 
• Strong fluency in healthcare economics, reimbursement pathways, and value-based purchasing. Experience launching products that require behavior change and clinical pathway integration is a plus.
