Senior Hardware Technician, Controls Bring-Up

As a Senior Hardware Technician, you'll be the first person to bring electricity, intelligence, and motion to a freshly built robotic welding cell. After our build team completes mechanical assembly, the cell rolls to your bench. You'll image the PC and HMI, configure the safety PLC and managed network, set up the robot controller and Functional Safety Unit, configure every field device on EtherNet/IP and IO-Link, run a bit-level I/O check, and execute the safety functional test that proves the cell is safe to move and weld. From there, you hand off to our Logical Bring-Up team for software calibration and production validation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to live at the intersection of controls, robotics, and safety, and who takes pride in being the person who makes a cell come alive.
What You’ll Do
- Execute the full Controls Bring-Up procedure on each new cell: hardware device setup, robot controller setup, and safety QC.
- Configure managed switches and VLANs (control, safety, vision, diagnostic) per the network plan.
- Update PLC firmware, download the released PLC program, and verify a clean startup.
- Set IPs and verify EtherNet/IP comms for valve packs, IO-Link masters, remote I/O blocks, area scanners, distance sensors, and servo packs.
- Configure the welding power source (firmware update, comms interface, weld I/O exchange).
- Set up the robot controller end-to-end: IP, remote pendant, EtherNet/IP scanner/adapter mapping to PLC, safety logic load, controller-to-PLC interlock verification.
- Initialize, zero, and verify all robot, base, and positioner axes; configure servo parameters and home positions; set soft limits.
- Calibrate the Tool Center Point (TCP) and gravity for the welder torch and torch-cleaning-station tip pointer.
- Configure the Functional Safety Unit (FSU): coasting value, robot range limit, axis speed monitor, speed limit; load FSU files.
- Apply the standard functionality settings (SimpleConnect, energy saving, jog key allocation, joint velocity remap, wire-feeder interference model, cycle-switch-in-remote, pendant password and date/time, calibration pendant ladder mod and wiring, serial-number job).
- Run a bit-level I/O check against the I/O list and a full safety functional test (E-stops, light curtains, gates, interlocks); record PASS/FAIL and resolve any FAIL before sign-off.
- Pre- and post-bring-up controller backups (CMOS plus individual files) archived to the cell folder.
- Document deviations, drive ECRs to resolution with the design team, and contribute back to our Confluence procedure set so the next person has a better experience than you did.
- Mentor junior techs — we're growing the team, and being a force-multiplier matters here.
Who You Are
- 3+ years bringing up industrial automation cells — robotic, machining, or assembly — in a manufacturing or system-integrator environment.
- Hands-on configuration of a current six-axis industrial robot controller (Yaskawa YRC-class strongly preferred; Fanuc / ABB / KUKA experience considered).
- Working proficiency with a Logix-class safety PLC and Studio 5000 (or RSLogix 5000): firmware updates, program download, online edits, I/O mapping, troubleshooting.
- EtherNet/IP networking on the plant floor: device addressing, scanner/adapter configuration, managed switch and VLAN setup.
- Reading and working from electrical, controls, and safety drawings; comfortable doing point-to-point I/O checks with a multimeter.
- Working knowledge of robotic welding cells or comparable robotic process equipment.
- Discipline around documentation, configuration backups, and version control of files (CMOS, PLC, FSU, network).
- Comfortable working in PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toes) in an active manufacturing environment.
Preferred but not required:
- Functional Safety Unit (FSU) configuration on Yaskawa controllers.
- IO-Link master and device commissioning.
- Welding power source setup (Miller, Lincoln, Fronius).
- ROS / ROS driver job-file experience for industrial robots.
- Python scripting for automating repetitive setup, file renames, or backup pulls.
- Experience writing or editing Confluence procedure pages, work instructions, or training materials.
- OSHA-10 / OSHA-30, NFPA 70E arc-flash, or LOTO certifications current.

Senior Hardware Technician, Laser Tracker Calibration

As a Senior Hardware Technician, you own the geometric truth of every cell that leaves our floor. After Controls Bring-Up is complete, you set up a FARO Vantage laser tracker, level the rail, align positioners, and run the RoboDK robot calibration that tells the welder where it actually is within fractions of a millimeter. You'll capture the data, validate it against our tolerances, package it per the cell type, and hand it off to our Logical Bring-Up team. Without your work, the welder is guessing.
This is a precision role for someone who is at home with a laser tracker, comfortable around large industrial robots in teach mode, and gets satisfaction from clean data.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and operate a FARO Vantage laser tracker: tripod, extension, level, warm-up, and stable lock on SMRs.
- Survey and shim the robot transfer unit (RTU) rail to level within tolerance; re-survey for confirmation.
- Align positioner headstocks and tailstocks (single-side, dual-side, dynamic, static, indexable variants) and capture before/after data.
- Establish robot base coordinate systems in Polyworks Inspector via macro — verify Z-up, X-down-track.
- Run RoboDK robot calibration on welder and (where applicable) global scanner robots — base setup, geometric calibration measurement set, and validation poses.
- Capture RTU and positioner / rail-axis data using our Polyworks macros.
- Generate, clean, and export Polyworks coordinate-system and reference-point reports at six-digit decimal precision; export tables to CSV.
- Run our Python script in RoboDK to compute robot calibration error; verify against RoboDK-reported norms and flag any deviation.
- Assemble the per-cell data package (CSV, TXT, PDF) per our File Naming Convention table for the cell variant; upload to the cell's calibration-results folder.
- Walk the bring-up engineer through the data package; obtain written acceptance; tear down and pack out.
- Identify recurring fixturing, build, or alignment issues that show up on the tracker, and feed them back to design and build through our ECR process.
- Help us automate. Half of this job is repetitive (rename a file, change decimal precision, upload). If you can write Python or shell to kill those steps, we want it.
- Maintain our tracker's calibration certificate, SMRs, cabling, and bring-up laptop image; flag re-cal needs proactively.
- Mentor junior techs — we're growing the team, and being a force-multiplier matters here.
Who You Are
- 3+ years hands-on experience with a FARO laser tracker (Vantage / Ion / equivalent) in a manufacturing or contract-metrology environment.
- Working proficiency with Polyworks Inspector — running and modifying macros, generating and editing inspection reports.
- Practical understanding of dimensional metrology fundamentals: GD&T, coordinate systems, alignment, datum structures, measurement uncertainty.
- Comfort working alongside an industrial six-axis robot in teach mode — including basic teach-pendant navigation.
- Disciplined documentation and file-management practices; you understand why naming conventions matter.
- Comfortable working in PPE in an active manufacturing environment.
Preferred but not required:
- RoboDK robot calibration — geometric DH calibration and validation workflows.
- Yaskawa (or other industrial robot) teach-pendant familiarity.
- Python scripting — even basic file-rename / upload automation is a big plus.
- 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and converting CAD models into RoboDK stations.
- Experience with multiple tracker platforms (Leica, Hexagon) or photogrammetry systems.
- Manufacturer training certificates from FARO, InnovMetric, or RoboDK.
- Experience writing or editing Confluence procedure pages, work instructions, or training materials.

This role is scheduled Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM.
What You’ll Do
- Support Customers, interact and operate running our state of the art autonomous welding cells
- Interface with customers to ensure our equipment is operating efficiently.
- Coordinate with our engineering resources to troubleshoot issues that may arise.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on our automation equipment/cells locally or at customer sites
- Troubleshoot customer issues of the welding system- familiarity with electrical, mechanical and vision systems will be helpful.
- Record data as required by engineers to drive issue resolution
- Carefully monitor cell performance and part fit-up
- Read engineering drawings, assembly diagrams, electrical schematics and interpret blueprints
- Service and maintain pneumatic systems, welding equipment, robotics, and electrical automation devices.
- Integrate a sophisticated autonomous welding cell into a customer’s manufacturing process.
- Learn Forge processes in great detail and gain familiarity in operating the cell from command prompts and code changes
- Inspect, clean, and replace electrical and mechanical components

Who You Are
- Technical training/Trade School certification/ Associate degree in Engineering Tech/BS Engineering or related industry experience

- Some welding experience (no certifications necessary)
- Have fabrication or machine shop experience

The Senior Machinist is a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment to produce precision parts. In addition to consistently completing assigned tasks, this role contributes strongly to team success by serving as a go-to technical resource, providing guidance, and supporting cross-functional collaboration. The Senior Machinist proactively seeks feedback, communicates effectively with leadership, and helps elevate overall shop performance.

- Set up, program, and operate CNC and/or manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)

As a Hardware Technician, you will be building cutting-edge hardware devices. You will be working hands-on with tools, configuring different hardware assemblies to help create the future of manufacturing. You will report to the Operations Manager and collaborate with the hardware engineers daily on process improvement and design feedback. As a hardware technician, you’ll be highly adaptable to the changing business environment and support the many activities within operations!
What You’ll Do
- Assemble, repair, and rework small electronic components and assemblies.
- Perform surface-mount (SMT) soldering and desoldering with precision and consistency.

As a Senior Hardware Technician, you will be building cutting-edge hardware devices. What You’ll Do

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Field Services Lead to head our field technician team along with our Field Services Manager. In this role you will split your time between doing the hands-on technical work (the Player) and coaching, developing, and holding accountable the technicians around you (the Coach). You will set the technical and professional standard for the team, own the health of our customer cells in the field, and drive the continuous improvement that keeps Path’s systems running at their best.
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership
- Lead complex troubleshooting and set technical standards for the team
- Operate, maintain, and repair multi-robotic welding systems, pneumatics, electrical/mechanical components, and automation equipment (local and customer sites)
- Perform preventive maintenance, validate repairs, and track cell performance and part fit-up
- Integrate autonomous welding cells into customer manufacturing processes; proficient in robotic kinematics, system integration, and communication protocols

We are looking for a Welding Engineer who will work side-by-side with a team of welding engineers to develop an autonomous robotic welding system capable of automatically generating custom motion plans and weld parameters for any part that it sees. You will also support teams with welding experiments, generating the data that propels our technology forward. You will join a team of dedicated, supportive, and enthusiastic people to help create the future of manufacturing.
What You’ll Do
- Run weld parameter selection experiments to identify a range of welding parameters (voltage, wire speed, travel speed) that can be used for new customer applications
- Partner with robotics engineers to develop a set of rules for how to move the workpiece and robot end-effector to automate trajectory generation
- Perform robotic welding experiments to test other systems in development including sensors and inspection systems, path planning and welding strategies, and new hardware
- Work with our hardware team to fabricate test coupons for application feasibility testing and other in-house experiments
- 30%-50% travel required, in which you will be interfacing and working directly with customers.
- Operate a state-of the art AI-powered robotic welding cell
- Manually weld coupons and other test parts when needed
- Use powered shop tools to cut and etch weld samples
Who You Are
- 3+ years of experience developing robotic welding procedures in an industrial environment

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for building hardware that works in the real world. You'll be embedded in our sensing and mobile welding platform team, designing the mechanical systems that put our robots in motion and keep them welding accurately in dynamic, unstructured environments. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on rapid iteration, owns their designs end to end, and cares deeply about how something gets made — not just how it looks in CAD.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop mechanical assemblies for mobile robotic welding platforms, including sensor integration, structural components and systems, motion systems, and tooling interfaces
- Own designs from concept through fabrication, assembly, and field validation — iterating based on test results and real-world feedback
- Collaborate closely within a cross-functional team including mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate sensing hardware (cameras, LiDAR, proximity sensors, etc.) into compact, robust mechanical packages
- Apply sound design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles across multiple fabrication methods — machined components, sheet metal enclosures, and additive/3D-printed parts
- Create and maintain detailed CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks, managed through PDM
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering decisions with well-reasoned tradeoffs between performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Work directly with fabrication vendors and internal shop resources to turn drawings into parts — fast
- Support root cause analysis and design improvements driven by field findings and reliability data
What We're Looking For
- 3–6 years of mechanical engineering experience in a product development or hardware engineering environment
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for multi-body and multi-component assemblies, with hands-on use of PDM for version control and release workflows
- Solid command of engineering drawing standards and the ability to produce clear, manufacturable drawings; working familiarity with GD&T
- Demonstrated experience designing for multiple manufacturing methods — machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing

We are looking for a highly motivated Logistics and Resupply Specialist to assist the company in management of logistics, customs clearance, and fleet resupply for both domestic and international shipping. They’ll be a key member of our supply chain team working closely with our procurement and operations teams.
What You’ll Do
- Logistics Management: Manage the logistics movement for all Path’s international and domestic shipping needs across suppliers, customers, tradeshows, and more.
- Negotiate rates and contracts for all shipping needs, including FTL, LTL, parcels, and more.
- Create and implement strategies on managing logistics providers and custom brokerages.
- Resolve all shipping issues, including driver no shows, custom clearances, and more.
- Ensure all cross-functional team questions on logistics, including urgent shipments, are supported timely.
- Resupply: Coordinate logistics and internal needs for all types of resupply, including 1) spares and consumable replenishment to deployed fleet, and 2) inventory returns of used cells and parts from field to Path or suppliers. Activities include the alignment of demand with cross functional teams or customers, ordering or drop-shipping consumable items, ensuring all internal ERP system records are updated, RMA coordination with suppliers, etc.
- Develop a process for tracking and delivering consumables to customer sites.
- Documentation: Prepare all documentation related to logistics, including HS code analysis / selection to minimize tariffs, carnets for equipment, international shipping customs paperwork, service provider scorecards, open delivery reports, truck loading plans, bill of lading, and more. May involve working with customs brokers and customers on preferred formatting.
- Packaging: Manage all internal and external packaging to fit our logistics and cross-functional needs, such as crates, skids, boxes, etc.
- Work closely with Operations deployment teams to coordinate timing and delivery schedules for shipments to customer sites. May require working on weekends to communicate current timelines.

- 2+ years with both domestic and international shipping experience

We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to design, build, and refine the electrical foundation behind our automation platform. You’ll own critical electrical systems from concept through deployment, ensuring performance, safety, reliability, and scalability across advanced automated equipment and robotic welding cells. This role offers hands-on ownership, technical depth, and the opportunity to directly influence how modern automation products are designed, built, and deployed.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable electrical systems for advanced automated equipment and robotic welding cells using SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
- Develop and maintain complete electrical documentation packages, including schematics, panel layouts, I/O lists, cable schedules, power distribution diagrams, and BOMs.
- Architect power distribution systems, grounding strategies, and protection schemes to ensure safety, robustness, and compliance.
- Specify and validate electrical components including PLCs, power supplies, breakers, contactors, safety devices, VFDs, servos, and motion systems.
- Develop, test, and debug PLC software across multiple platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley / Studio 5000 and Delta PLCs / CODESYS) where applicable.

- Lead machine safety design efforts, contribute to risk assessments, and support compliance with relevant electrical and industrial safety standards.
- Partner with supply chain and manufacturing to optimize BOM cost, part standardization, availability, and build efficiency.
- Support systems through build, FAT, installation, and commissioning, troubleshooting electrical issues and improving future deployments.
- Drive continuous improvement by feeding field learnings back into design standards, documentation, and component selection.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, controls, robotics, and product teams to deliver cohesive system designs.
Who You Are
- 2–6+ years of experience designing and deploying industrial electrical systems for automated equipment or machinery.
- Strong experience creating electrical schematics and panel designs using SOLIDWORKS Electrical (or similar ECAD tools).
- Solid understanding of power distribution, circuit protection, grounding, and industrial wiring standards.
- Experience working with PLC hardware and industrial controls components (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Delta, or similar platforms).
- Familiarity with machine safety systems, including safety PLCs, safety I/O, and risk assessment processes.

We're looking for an Electrical Hardware Engineer with a strong foundation in PCB design and electrical systems development. You'll work on the electronics that power mobile robotic welding platforms — from sensor interfaces and motor control to power distribution and embedded communication. This is a role for someone who takes ownership of their designs end to end: from schematic capture through layout, bring-up, and integration into a working system.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop PCBs for embedded control, power management, motor drive, and sensor interfacing in robotic systems
- Own designs from schematic capture through layout, fabrication, assembly, and hardware validation
- Specify and select components with attention to availability, cost, reliability, and fit within the broader electrical architecture
- Define and validate electrical interfaces between custom PCBs, off-the-shelf modules, actuators, and sensing hardware
- Develop and execute hardware test plans; debug boards at the bench and support integration with firmware and software teams
- Maintain design documentation, schematics, and BOMs in version-controlled workflows
- Work with contract manufacturers and PCB fabricators to ensure designs are manufacturable and yield-friendly
- Support field investigations and drive design improvements based on reliability findings
Who You Are
Required
- 3–6 years of hardware engineering experience in a product development environment
- Proficiency in a professional EDA tool for schematic capture and PCB layout
- Experience designing multi-layer PCBs with mixed-signal, power, and high-speed digital content
- Familiarity with common embedded communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet)
- Working knowledge of power electronics — motor drive, DC-DC conversion, power sequencing, and protection circuits
