Position Description
Origis Energy is looking for a Head of Procurement to join our growing team. This person will lead an experienced team with the main objective of creating and implementing the procurement strategy and standards across solar PV systems and BESS components. The successful candidate will help to develop and implement best-in-class procurement to effectively maximize value in the development, construction, and operations project phases.
The Head of Procurement reports to the Managing Director Procurement and O&M and is a regular, full-time position eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer-paid heath insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions, and other great benefits.
*The position level and title is based upon relevant experience and will be determined by hiring team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, when applicable, for solar power generation equipment (including but not limited to solar panels/modules, transformers, trackers/racking, inverters, balance-of-system (AC and DC), switchgear); analyze bid results and compile bid evaluations.
- Review analysis and evaluation of supplier product options and make recommendations for supplier and product selections, including quantifying and managing contractual risk with suppliers.
- Negotiate and manage power generation equipment and service transactions for solar projects; manage the interdisciplinary team across legal, finance, development, operations, technical and other personnel.
- Negotiate and execute master agreements and purchase orders in support of company projects.
- Guide development strategies, relating to power generation and transmission procurement, from prospecting through financial close.
- Maintain the necessary technical and administrative infrastructure to manage historical pricing across all projects and technologies; create forward-looking reports projecting price and technology improvements for all major generation equipment.
- Assist with the project’s financial close process, including providing copies of requested contracts (and exhibits) and compiling responses from OEMs and/or interdisciplinary teams to independent engineering (IE) questions.
- Assist with the management of inventory and allocation of safe harbor inventory (e.g., solar panels, transformers, inverters, racking, other equipment) procured by Origis for qualification of projects pursuant to the Investment Tax Credit (ITC).
- Develop and implement strong supplier development and supplier relationship management processes.
- Monitor and evaluate the risk of geopolitical and regulatory initiatives that impact the supply chain and develop the mitigation and/or contingency procurement strategies.
- Synthesis market intelligence with internally gathered intelligence to perform forecasts for major equipment
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience; experience in renewable energy equipment procurement is required
- BS in STEM or MBA, or significant experience in technical procurement
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Deep understanding and ability to read, write and negotiate contracts; particularly contracting for large generation and related equipment
- Strong product knowledge of PV & BESS technologies
- Experience in global sourcing and international negotiations
- Familiarity with the exportation/importation of equipment/materials
- Experience with a solar energy developer or solar EPC contractor preferred
- Experienced in financial analysis including price forecasting and reporting
- Familiarity with evolving quality factors and major trends within the PV industry
- CPSM or equivalent is a plus
Location – Austin, TX – hybrid in-office policy (3 days per week)
Travel – 25-33% travel as needed (1x per month, potentially 2x per month)

Position Description
The Design Engineer role, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering and working closely with Civil and Electrical Engineering partners, supports the site evaluation, layout design, and development of utility‑scale solar PV and Storage projects across Origis Energy’s portfolio.
This position supports early through mid‑stage project development, focusing on translating civil site constraints into constructible, efficient electrical layouts at a conceptual and preliminary level. Duties may also extend to include miscellaneous support during 30/60/90/IFC design and later construction and O&M if and when the development of internal exhibits or the review of processing of CAD drawings is needed.
This position may be filled as Design Engineer I or Design Engineer II based on candidate experience and demonstrated capability. This role is a regular, full‑time position and is eligible for Origis Energy’s comprehensive benefits package, including employer‑paid health insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with employer matching contributions, and additional benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Site Review & Due Diligence Support
- Support project development through desktop site reviews, site visits, and review of third‑party reports including ALTA surveys, environmental studies, geotechnical reports, and floodplain documentation.
- Identify and interpret site constraints such as wetlands and waterways, flood zones, topography, setbacks, easements, underground utilities, pipelines, and other environmental or jurisdictional limitations.
- Translate due diligence findings into clearly defined developable areas and design assumptions.
Conceptual & Preliminary Site Layout Design
- Develop and maintain conceptual and preliminary site layouts for utility‑scale solar PV Storage projects using AutoCAD and related tools.
- Incorporate civil constraints, access requirements, and constructability considerations into array layouts, equipment placement, and infrastructure corridors.
- Support layout iterations for alternative site configurations, technology options, or development scenarios as projects mature.
Electrical Layout Coordination
- Support layout‑level electrical system configuration, including:
- Inverter and power block placement
- DC and MV collection routing corridors
- Coordination of trenching, access roads, and grading interfaces
- Develop preliminary electrical single line diagrams (SLDs) to support needs of Origination, Development and EPC teams.
- Apply value‑engineering principles to balance civil constraints, electrical infrastructure, constructability, and project economics.
- Coordinate with internal technical team and external consultants to align on layout assumptions and tradeoffs.
Cross‑Functional & External Coordination
- Serve as a technical partner to Development, Origination, and Engineering teams on layout‑related questions.
- Support EPC RFP development by preparing layout exhibits and responding to technical questions.
- Assist with Independent Engineer and lender technical due diligence by providing clarifications, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with EPCs during 30/60/90% design reviews to confirm alignment with development intent and site constraints.
Project Lifecycle Support
- Provide technical support during early construction and execution phases as needed, including review of selected EPC design deliverables for alignment with development assumptions.
- Support internal documentation, reporting, and presentations related to site design and feasibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-4 years of applicable electrical or civil plan development experience
- 4-8 years of AutoCAD experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience supporting site layout, design, or engineering for utility‑scale infrastructure, renewable energy, or related projects.
- Working knowledge of site constraints, constructability considerations, and multi‑discipline coordination.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote).
- Experience supporting utility‑scale solar PV and Storage projects.
- Familiarity with PV plant layout tools (e.g., PVcase, PV Farm, PlantPredict).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders.

Position Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, provides enterprise-level electrical engineering expertise across Origis Energy’s utility-scale solar and energy storage portfolio. This role is responsible for electrical system engineering, including inverter-based resources, with accountability for inverter application, performance, and lifecycle support as an integral part of overall plant electrical design and operation.
The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a critical role in setting technical direction, maintaining standards, managing technical risk, and supporting project execution from early development through construction, commissioning, and long-term operations. This position is a regular, full-time role based in our Austin, TX office, and is eligible for Origis Energy’s comprehensive employee benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
Specifications and Standards
- Serve as Origis Energy’s electrical engineering technical authority, with primary ownership of inverter-related standards and specifications and broader oversight of electrical system design criteria.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams to develop, maintain, and continuously improve electrical and inverter technical specifications, design standards, and guidelines.
- Support compliance with applicable reliability and grid requirements, including NERC reliability standards as applicable to inverter-based resources and plant electrical systems.
Supply Chain & AVL
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to establish, maintain, and technically qualify Approved Vendor Lists (AVL) for inverters and key electrical equipment.
- Support technical evaluations of electrical equipment vendors and emerging technologies.
OEM & External Relationships
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with inverter OEM sales, engineering, service, and warranty teams.
- Represent Origis Energy in technical discussions with EPCs, OEMs, utilities, consultants, and independent engineers.
Technology & Engineering
- Act as the primary subject matter expert for inverter technology, power electronics, and inverter-based resource behavior for PV and BESS plants.
- Provide technical leadership on inverter-based resource capabilities related to reactive power, voltage regulation, frequency response, and grid-support performance in accordance with utility, interconnection, and reliability requirements.
- Evaluate inverter technologies, control modes, and electrical system configurations for applicability, performance, and risk across the portfolio.
- Provide technical review and guidance on electrical system designs including single-line diagrams, DC string and collection systems, inverter integration, MV and LV collection systems, grounding, transformers, and overall plant electrical architecture.
Construction and Commissioning
- Support construction teams by advising on inverter installation, commissioning plans, testing procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Review commissioning results and support resolution of inverter and electrical system issues during startup.
Operations and Performance
- Work closely with Operations, Asset Management, EPCs, and OEMs to troubleshoot and resolve inverter and electrical system issues.
- Support root-cause analyses for inverter and electrical system failures or underperformance.
Training and Knowledge Sharing
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and deliver inverter and electrical system training for engineering, construction, and operations personnel.
- Share lessons learned and best practices across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects, with strong expertise in inverter-based systems.
- Deep understanding of inverter technology, power electronics, and utility-scale electrical systems.
- Experience supporting projects across development, engineering, construction, and operations.
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, standards, and utility requirements (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NABCEP, manufacturer-specific) are a plus.
