Essential Skills and Qualities
You're a compassionate caregiver who finds deep fulfillment in providing comfort during life's most challenging times. You understand that small acts of kindness - helping someone bathe, sharing a meal, or simply being present - can make an enormous difference. You're comfortable with the physical demands of caregiving and confident using proper techniques to ensure safety. You're observant, noticing changes in your patients and communicating them promptly to your nursing team. You respect the sacred nature of end-of-life care and approach each patient and family with dignity, cultural sensitivity, and genuine warmth. You're reliable, punctual, and professional, understanding that families depend on you during their most vulnerable moments.
This role offers the opportunity to do work that truly matters. You'll be part of a supportive interdisciplinary team committed to providing the highest quality end-of-life care. We provide comprehensive training, ongoing education, and the resources you need to deliver excellent care. You'll work in varied settings - from private homes to care facilities - experiencing the reward of building meaningful relationships with patients and families during a significant time in their lives.
This position requires frequent travel to patient homes and facilities within your service area. You'll need to be comfortable working in different environments and adapting to varying schedules. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance), and using proper body mechanics for patient transfers and care activities. Some flexibility with scheduling is needed, as patient care needs and assignments may change. You may occasionally be exposed to infectious materials following proper safety protocols.

About the Role
Optimal Care Hospice Registered Nurses (RNs) are skilled professionals who provide comprehensive nursing care, case management, and compassionate support to terminally ill patients and their families in home or facility settings. As a Hospice RN, you will assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Working closely with the Hospice Medical Director, you will lead an Interdisciplinary Team—which may include Hospice Aides, Medical Social Workers, Chaplains, LPNs, Music or Massage Therapists, and Volunteers—to ensure patients receive holistic, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
Optimal Care Hospice Registered Nurses are trained professional nurses who administer skilled nursing care, and case management and provide support to terminally ill patients and their families in a home or facility setting. Hospice Registered Nurses access, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. In collaboration with the Hospice Medical Director, the Hospice Registered Nurse leads an Interdisciplinary Team of hospice professionals which may include a Hospice Aide, Medical Social Worker, Chaplin, LPN, Music Therapist, Massage Therapist, and Volunteers in providing all appropriate care for the patient.
