About the Role

We’re looking for an Applied Scientist (ALL LEVELS) to push the boundaries of applied machine learning and AI at Opendoor. While this role will have a significant impact on our valuation systems — ensuring we provide the most accurate and transparent pricing possible — the scope goes well beyond pricing. You’ll work across a range of challenging ML problems, from multi-modal modeling to operational optimization, helping us rethink how we use structured and unstructured data to make better decisions for our customers.

The Consumer team owns comprehensive digital experiences for home sellers and buyers. • Experience with distributed systems concepts (scalability, consistency, resiliency, monitoring)
• Experience leading technical projects from design through rollout and support

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $176,000-$282,000 annually, plus RSUs and bonuses. We’re looking for a senior-level Software Engineer to join our Pricing & ML team, leading the design and evolution of the platform and tooling that productionize the machine learning models behind our pricing engine. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working close to data and models, has meaningful experience with ML workflows, and wants to shape technical direction as well as ship high-impact systems. Our models are pragmatic and straightforward—we prioritize value, reliability, and iteration speed over complex research systems.
