About the Role

We're hiring an Employee Relations Business Partner as we scale our Operations organization. This role is the primary owner of employee-specific issues requiring investigation, documentation, policy interpretation, and disciplinary guidance across our frontline workforce and, ultimately, across Nuro.

This role complements, but does not replace, our Operations HRBP and People & Compliance Site Lead roles. The Operations HRBP is the strategic partner to Operations leaders, focused on org design, manager development, workforce planning, and team effectiveness. The People & Compliance Site Lead focuses on site execution, readiness, audits, and surfacing operational risks. This role owns the employee-specific casework those functions surface and escalate.

This is an individual contributor role reporting into the People team, with close partnership to Employment Legal and HRBPs.

About the Work

• Own employee relations intake, triage, and investigations for the Operations workforce and broader Nuro population, ensuring timely, fair, and well-documented case handling
• Lead investigations end-to-end: conduct witness interviews, prepare question outlines, organize interview notes, gather and review documentation, make objective fact findings, summarize key issues, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
• Draft investigation reports and written summaries; close out appropriately with both complainant and subject
• Partner with frontline supervisors and managers on corrective action, disciplinary consistency, documentation quality, and separation readiness
• Support high-volume ER matters including attendance, job abandonment, professionalism, policy violations, interpersonal conflict, reporting failures, and other conduct-related concerns
• Partner on urgent safety and conduct escalations, including suspected impairment, training-related concerns, and incidents requiring immediate HR support
• Coach managers through difficult employee conversations, written warnings, administrative leave, and separation planning
• Track data on concerns raised; identify trends across cases and manager requests, and translate them into recommendations for training, policy clarity, and process improvement
• Build and improve scalable ER tools and processes, including investigation templates, intake workflows, manager guidance, and offboarding standards
• Partner closely with Employment Legal, HRBPs, Safety, People Ops, Workplace, and staffing vendors to ensure aligned case handling and a consistent employee experience

About You

• 5+ years of experience in employee relations, investigations, HRBP, HR generalist, or employment law roles, including direct ownership of complex ER matters; in-house or employment counsel backgrounds welcome
• Strong investigation skills: interviewing, fact assessment, documentation review, and written recommendation development; AWI-CH certification or equivalent investigation-focused training strongly preferred
• Experience supporting hourly, non-exempt, contingent, or shift-based workforces in operations, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, hospitality, or similarly fast-paced environments
• Ability to manage a high volume of cases with strong judgment, responsiveness, and close attention to detail
• Strong manager coaching skills and the ability to guide frontline leaders through difficult employee issues with clarity and consistency
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills
• Strong knowledge of California employment law and ER practices for high-volume environments; Texas experience is a plus
• Calm, practical, and solutions-oriented in ambiguous or high-pressure situations
• Highly organized and process-minded, with the ability to build lightweight systems that improve consistency without slowing down operations
• Comfortable building trust across employees, managers, and cross-functional partners while handling sensitive matters with discretion

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $125,400 and $188,100 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. We’re hiring a People and Compliance Site Lead to provide on-site support for our Santa Clara Operations & Vehicle Facility, with regular support also needed at our South San Francisco location. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on ensuring strong daily execution, workforce readiness, and adherence to site standards and regulatory requirements.

You’ll act as an on-site operational partner to site leadership, focused on observing how work gets done, auditing processes and systems, and identifying gaps early to keep teams ahead of safety, compliance, and execution risks. • Review annotated datasets and labeling outputs for quality and consistency across robotics and autonomy workflows
• Apply defined QC criteria and rubrics to evaluate outputs as pass, fail, or needs review
• Document specific defect types per task — incorrect output, regression, edge-case failure, data inconsistency, tool behavior deviation
• Maintain a clean review log for every item assessed — no undocumented assessments

Tool Testing & Bug Reproduction

• Test internal tools across standard workflows and exception scenarios as directed by the Operations Lead
• Reproduce reported bugs reliably and validate fixes with clear supporting documentation — steps, inputs, expected vs. actual behavior

• You have 1+ years of software development experience in C++, OpenGL and QT

• Hiring & Onboarding: You will be responsible for running the interview process and successfully executing the onboarding for new hires in line with the plan. You will work closely with the L&D team to develop the interview & onboarding process and the grading rubric.

About the Role

As the Head of Operations, you will lead a team responsible for supporting the development and global rollout of Nuro’s autonomous driving technology. This scope includes managing hundreds of team members across six operational functions: operations strategy, commercial launch/geographic expansion, in-vehicle operations, remote assistance, closed course testing, and operations safety. The operations org plays a critical role in both R&D efforts and commercial deployment, and you will lead it. 

Today we operate in three cities. Over the coming months and years, that footprint will expand significantly, across multiple geographies, time zones, vehicle platforms, partners, and operational environments. You will help build the plan that gets us there and the team that executes it, with a mix of full-time employees and contractors who each bring different requirements, different site conditions, and different challenges.

The total compensation package for this position includes base pay and a competitive benefits package including medical/dental/vision insurance, daily meal reimbursement, and paid time off in addition to limited company holidays. For this position the reasonably expected base hourly rate is $27/hour for the Morning and Afternoon/Evening shifts, and $28.25/hour for the Overnight shift. Due to the nature of the position, this job requires:

The total compensation package for this position includes base pay and a competitive benefits package including medical/dental/vision insurance, daily meal reimbursement, and paid time off in addition to limited company holidays. For this position the reasonably expected base hourly rate is $27/hour for the Morning and Afternoon/Evening shifts, and $28.25/hour for the Overnight shift. You may also be eligible for a discretionary biannual contract completion bonus based on company and individual performance.

The Associate Fleet Technician is a critical, entry-level technical role that provides the foundation for our vehicle operations. You will be instrumental in keeping our autonomous fleet on the road, learning the basics of maintaining sophisticated hardware and software systems. About the Work

As an Associate Fleet Technician, you will:

• Vehicle Readiness & Maintenance: Execute daily and weekly preventive maintenance checks (PMs) and tasks to ensure maximum vehicle up-time.
• System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Perform initial triage and resolution of routine hardware and software issues, and hand off technical issues out of scope. This includes diagnosing basic faults using technical documentation and standardized tools, and providing clear, detailed notes on issues that require escalation for further root-cause analysis. 
• Component-Level Work: Execute minor mechanical repairs, part replacements, and system retrofits/modifications on Nuro vehicles and robotics according to engineering specifications.

• Own cloud efficiency end-to-end. Identify the highest-ROI opportunities across storage, compute, data, and ML infrastructure, and deliver systems that capture those gains as durable platform behavior, not one-off cleanups.
• Drive cost-aware system design. Partner with teams on architecture and design reviews to ensure new systems are efficient by default. Raise the bar for how engineers reason about storage, retention, data layout, query patterns, compute sizing, and reservation strategy.
• Optimize performance and efficiency at scale. Profile and tune large-scale workloads — BigQuery analytics, data pipelines, simulation storage, ML training, and GKE services — turning expensive, slow jobs into efficient, high-throughput systems.
• Build cost observability and attribution. Deliver real-time visibility, anomaly detection, and fine-grained attribution (SKU, bucket, workload, team) so issues are identified and resolved in hours, not weeks.
• Eliminate systemic waste. Automate lifecycle and tiering (autoclass, archive, scene-based retention), right-size compute, and continuously clean up underutilized or orphaned resources across the fleet.
• Drive cross-org optimization. Partner across engineering to land high-impact improvements (e.g., precision reduction, query tuning, data lifecycle strategies) and convert them into guardrails that prevent regression.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Python or Go, with experience building and operating production systems end-to-end.
• Experience with public cloud platforms (GCP preferred) including billing, IAM, and resource management.

Our team is looking for a Mission Operations Coordinator to schedule, coordinate and optimize allocation decisions across multiple operational missions and geographies to meet Nuro’s challenging goals.
