Nexamp is seeking an Electrical Performance Engineer who will be a deep technical independent contributor responsible for improving the reliability, availability, and performance of Nexamp’s operating portfolio of distributed and utility-scale solar PV and BESS assets, currently exceeding 2 GW under management and in construction. What you’ll do:  

• Own plant protection, controls, and compliance strategy by reviewing and coordinating protection settings across OCPDs, relays, inverters, and plant controllers; managing required setting changes with third-party vendors; and securing utility approvals to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Engage directly with utilities on complex grid-interaction issues related to protection schemes, relay settings, and plant control behavior; diagnose misalignment between plant and utility protection philosophies; and negotiate technically sound solutions that optimize availability and interconnection compliance.
• Improve system reliability and energy performance by evaluating and optimizing protection schemes, breaker coordination, relay timing, circuit configurations, and inverter control functions (Volt/VAR, Volt/Watt, frequency-watt, ramp rates, ride-through).
• Partner with Engineering to improve design standards and fleet consistency, including relay database templates, equipment specifications, standard drawings, and protection philosophies, with a focus on maintainability, operability, and lifecycle cost.
• Lead data-driven reliability and loss reduction efforts by analyzing inverter logs, relay events, EMS dispatch data, and waveform captures; conducting root-cause and 8D investigations; quantifying production and financial impacts; and recommending corrective actions, upgrades, or repowering strategies.
• Own fleetwide monitoring and diagnostics strategy by refining alert thresholds, logic, and escalation workflows to reduce false positives, minimize alert fatigue, and accelerate incident response.
• Develop analytical models, diagnostic frameworks, and performance standards for Nexamp’s PV and BESS fleet, integrating power systems engineering with data analytics to identify constraints and improvement opportunities.
• Influence organizational capability and decision-making by representing Performance Engineering in cross-functional initiatives, providing actionable feedback to development and engineering teams on design and procurement decisions, and mentoring junior analysts through training and documented best practices.

What we’re looking for: 

Nexamp is seeking to hire a Junior Control Room Operator to join it's 24/7 Operations Center in Lawrence, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for the real-time monitoring and basic remote operations of Nexamp's fleet of distributed solar and battery energy storage assets to ensure safe, reliable and optimized performance 365 days a year. You will identify and triage alarms and events, execute standard troubleshooting protocols and escalate issues to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders. 

This role is a full time, expected to work 40 hours throughout the week, including weekends & holidays. You will be expected to work a 8 hour shift between the hours of 6am-10pm ET, which will be determined upon hire. This role is full time out of our Lawrence, MA Operations Center. You will report to the Manager, Operations Center.

What you’ll do:  

• Monitor daily production and operational status of our solar and battery energy storage systems using Nexamp monitoring tools and standard operation procedures (SOPs).
• Review, acknowledge, analyze, and prioritize alarms and alerts, ensuring timely response to critical events and appropriate escalation to field service, engineering, and other stakeholders.
• Perform basic remote troubleshooting and control actions within defined SOPs, including independently monitoring and operating assets, and document actions taken in the monitoring and fleet management systems.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, utilities, equipment manufacturers, field technicians, and internal Nexamp teams via phone, email, and ticketing/monitoring platforms to coordinate safe and efficient issue resolution.
• Manage and triage the operations email inbox, including alarms, site notifications, and vendor communications, routing and escalating messages based on SOPs and operational priorities.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of outages, events, and resolutions in Nexamp’s monitoring and fleet management tools to support reporting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Continuously seek to optimize monitoring practices, alarm configurations, and SOPs in collaboration with team members to enhance safety, responsiveness, and asset performance.
• Occasionally will be required to work OT to support the needs of the Nexamp Operations Center

What you'll bring: 

• 0–2 years of related experience in a technical, operations, control room, utility, or similar environment.
• Basic knowledge of electricity/electrical terms (voltage, current, power, energy) a plus

• High school diploma, prefer some post high school education, vocational or tech school.

As a Control Room Operator at Nexamp, you’ll work with cutting edge and emerging technologies, and play a critical leadership role in overseeing 24/7 real-time operations of a rapidly expanding fleet of distributed and utility-scale renewable energy assets. 

Nexamp is seeking motivated and diligent individuals to serve as Control Room Operators at its 24-hour Operations Center in Lawrence, Mass. You will be responsible for the 24x7x365 real-time remote monitoring and operation of Nexamp’s Solar and Energy Storage assets.  You will help to evolve Nexamp’s Operations Center as the portfolio grows and will participate in scheduled shiftwork operations. You will also mentor and train a team of Distributed Generation Operators (DGOs) in the monitoring, remote troubleshooting and operation of Nexamp and third-party owned assets. You will report to the Manager, Nexamp Operations Center. This role will be an in-person, rotating shift-based role out of our Lawrence, MA, Operations Center.

• Perform remote troubleshooting using monitoring platforms to diagnose and resolve common issues, escalating to on-site personnel when necessary.
• Optimize system performance in accordance with established procedures to maximize revenue while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements and achieving defined KPIs.
• Coordinate with regional transmission operators, local ISOs, and site operations & maintenance (O&M) personnel to receive and execute operational directives, including scheduled maintenance and real-time response to abnormal conditions or unexpected disruptions, in accordance with Nexamp processes and SOPs.
• Record operational data, maintain logs, and compile and distribute reports as required.
• Provide guidance, training, and day-to-day support to Distributed Generation Operators on operating procedures, customer and utility interactions, and emergency response, while contributing to team development.
• Complete all required internal and external training, including NERC and ISO/RTO certifications as applicable.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across business units to share operational insights, contribute lessons learned, and support lifecycle decision-making for current and future assets.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures, including creating SOPs for future utility scale assets and reviewing and enhancing existing DGO SOPs.

What you’ll bring:

• At least 2 years of relevant operational experience, such as military watch standing, maritime roles on merchant vessels or oil rigs (engineering or non engineering), or watch standing in a traditional thermal power plant. Experience in control room operation within power generation is preferred. 
• A 2-year degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering  or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through related course work and/or experience.
• Advanced computer skills including experience in SCADA system operations, MS Office Suite, familiar with Remote Desktop.
• Basic knowledge of the Bulk Electric System including AC electrical generation and high voltage transmission processes, with the ability to remotely troubleshoot plant equipment 
• Availability to work rotating shift work, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays.
• Availability to fill scheduled and unscheduled job vacancies is required.
• Willingness and ability to develop and complete an extensive in-house training program as well as NERC or ISO equivalent certification programs in order to pass a certification exam and/or meet industry requirements and subsequently maintain these qualifications, as required.

Compensation 

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Nexamp ranges from $39/hour - $42/hour. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual bonus programs based on individual and company performance, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans). Additionally, you may be eligible to participate in the Company’s stock option plan. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but is not limited to, skills and qualifications, internal equity, performance, and geographic location.
