Team
The Development team at Mozilla Foundation drives the philanthropic support that fuels our mission to ensure the internet is a global public resource, open and accessible to all. The team builds meaningful relationships with individual donors, foundations, and partners who share our vision for a healthier internet. Through strategic fundraising initiatives, we secure the resources needed to advance Mozilla's mission of promoting openness, innovation, and opportunity online.
The Senior Fundraising Strategist is responsible for engaging Mozilla Foundation supporters in order to meet our organizational grassroots fundraising goals. This includes growing our donor base globally, identifying opportunities to solicit existing and prospective donors, and producing content that aligns with the Mozilla Foundation’s mission and goals.
This role will be essential to telling Mozilla’s story and shaping how we communicate with our supporters. The Senior Fundraising Strategist will translate Mozilla’s advocacy work, programmatic work, and relevant news stories into compelling fundraising opportunities to mobilize the Mozilla community. In addition, the Senior Fundraising Strategist will support a range of A/B testing and optimization projects in order to maximize the potential of the grassroots fundraising program. This role will report to the Manager, Grassroots Fundraising.
Job responsibilities
Here are some projects you'll likely work on in your first 6 months:
- Develop engaging grassroots fundraising campaigns aligned with Mozilla Foundation’s mission and organizational fundraising goals.
- Support the planning and execution of Mozilla Foundation’s end-of-year fundraising strategy.
- Pitch ideas to engage Mozilla’s global community, grow the grassroots donor base, and identify opportunities to solicit existing and prospective donors.
- Write compelling fundraising content for supporters across channels such as email, website, and more.
- Identify A/B testing priorities, design testing plans, monitor results, and report on key learnings and next steps.
- Collaborate within the Development team and across teams, including Tech Platforms, to improve supporter and donor experiences.
As a Senior Fundraising Strategist at Mozilla, you will work on…
Strategy Development + Implementation of Grassroots Fundraising Program — 45% of time
- Develop engaging fundraising campaigns in line with Mozilla Foundation’s mission.
- Pitch ideas to engage Mozilla’s global community with the goal of growing our grassroots donor base.
- Support the planning and execution of our end-of-year fundraising strategy.
- Move one-time and recurring donors up the ladder of engagement, encouraging them to increase their level of support.
- Re-engage lapsed donors and ask them to renew their support.
- Identify A/B testing priorities and design testing plans across fundraising channels.
- Analyze results and engagement metrics to build on past success and optimize the fundraising program.
- Research trends and best practices in the nonprofit sector to refine Mozilla’s grassroots fundraising and mobilization efforts.
Writing + Material Production of Grassroots Fundraising Content — 40% of time
- Write fundraising content for the Mozilla community across channels such as email, website, and more.
- Develop content aligned with Mozilla Foundation’s mission and advocacy campaigning efforts.
- Convey technical subject matter in conversational and nuanced language.
- Develop creative and automated email campaigns that deepen donor engagement and increase giving.
- Prepare experiment write-ups that summarize A/B test variations, methodology, hypotheses, results, statistical significance, conclusions, and next steps.
General Support of Supporter Mobilization Efforts — 15% of time
- Support non-fundraising initiatives that mobilize Mozilla’s global community.
- Collaborate within the Development team and with the Tech Platforms team on projects that deliver a more personalized donor experience.
- Participate in the email calendaring process.
- Assist with email quality assurance.
- Identify opportunities to refine Development team processes and practices.
- Other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the role.
Your Professional Profile:
- At least 5 years of digital fundraising experience or experience working in digital campaigning.
- Excellent email writing skills and proven ability to motivate supporters to take action.
- Experience writing emails for a diverse, global, large-scale email list of 1 million or more subscribers.
- Experience with A/B testing, experiment write-ups, and campaign optimization
- Demonstrated ability to develop successful online donor recruitment strategies based on donor data and insights, fundraising trends within the nonprofit sector, and organizational priorities and plans.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis on complex technical and political issues, and turn those issues into fundraising opportunities.
- Strong analytical, oral, written, and social communication skills in English.
- Strong familiarity with CRM and campaigning tools, such as Salesforce, Campaign Monitor, or ActionKit.
- Experience managing larger cross-team projects, including projects involving technical staff.
- A self-starter and team player who adheres to schedules and deadlines with strong attention to detail and process.
- Experience working successfully in a remote capacity with a geographically dispersed team.
- Excellent data analysis, project management, organizational, collaboration, and time management skills.
- English copywriting skills that adapt to an organization’s voice and tone, connect donors with its work, and motivate its community to donate.

About this team and role:
The Localization Team manages the infrastructure that powers localization across all Mozilla products and services, and supports our global community of volunteer localizers. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll contribute to a range of Mozilla localization projects and technologies — from open source libraries like moz-l10n to Pontoon, our Django-based Translation Management System. You’ll also work on internationalization features that shape the experience of Firefox and other Mozilla products, and have the opportunity to engage with development of standards such as Unicode MessageFormat and DOM Localization.
You’ll contribute to architectural discussions and help drive feature development within the team. At Mozilla, Senior Engineers are expected to work independently on well-defined projects, collaborate closely with peers, and play a key role in delivering high-quality software that advances the team’s goals and Mozilla’s mission.

- Contribute to the development of Python and JavaScript libraries (such as moz-l10n) and tools that support Mozilla’s localization infrastructure.

Team
The Tech Platforms team stewards and evolves shared technology platforms that power Mozilla Foundation programs and enable effective, secure, and scalable ways of working. Within the Tech Platforms team, Mozilla Common Voice is the flagship intervention to mitigate bias within AI - in particular by making it possible for speakers of the world’s 7000+ languages, and traditionally marginalized demographic communities, to be represented in AI training sets, and meaningfully engaged in building AI.
Mozilla Common Voice is a data crowdsourcing platform that supports 300+ communities around the world, and to which more than half a million people have contributed. The dataset is used by these communities, and also in technology and research organizations all over the world.
The Common Voice work spans product development, platform engineering, data stewardship, privacy and compliance, and community engagement. The team collaborates closely with contributors, researchers, and partners across regions and languages to ensure the platform remains trustworthy, inclusive, and sustainable while supporting long-term impact and future growth.
The Product Director, Common Voice is responsible for the overall success of the Common Voice project. This role is primarily accountable for product vision, roadmap, prioritization, and long-term direction, while also taking on interim community management responsibilities and providing engineering leadership and delivery oversight.
Job responsibilities

- Ensure effective collaboration between engineering, data, privacy, and infrastructure partners
Your Professional Profile:
- 5+ years of progressively senior Product Management experience, ideally within a small, agile team.
- Strong product judgment and experience setting direction, prioritizing work, and managing tradeoffs in a complex environment.
- Knowledge of linguistics or languages, with multilinguality a plus.
- At least a basic grounding in computational linguistics or NLP.
- Fantastic communication skills are required - the team and community are global and distributed. You will be required to communicate with internal and external collaborators, all of whom have very different perspectives, backgrounds and contexts.
- Excellent judgment, and proven in triaging a lot of inbound signals and needs.
- Self motivated and driven - a proactive problem solver - this is a small team.
- Strong affinity for research and metrics - ideally experience delivering user research plans and interfacing directly with communities, users and collaborators.
- Experience working directly and closely with linguists, language activists, software engineers, data scientists and designers.

About this team and role:
The Localization Team manages the infrastructure that powers localization across all Mozilla products and services, and supports our global community of volunteer localizers. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll contribute to a range of Mozilla localization projects and technologies — from open source libraries like moz-l10n to Pontoon, our Django-based Translation Management System. You’ll also work on internationalization features that shape the experience of Firefox and other Mozilla products, and have the opportunity to engage with development of standards such as Unicode MessageFormat and DOM Localization.
You’ll contribute to architectural discussions and help drive feature development within the team. The Position
The Director, Grassroots Engagement is responsible for the overall strategy and performance of Mozilla Foundation’s grassroots engagement and fundraising program. This role leads how Mozilla identifies, engages, and retains grassroots supporters across channels and languages, with particular responsibility for the email program, supporter experience, and revenue performance. - Setting the strategic direction for Mozilla Foundation’s grassroots digital engagement program, defining how supporters move from awareness to participation, financial support, and long-term connection to our mission.
- Designing and owning the program framework for segmentation, supporter journeys, and testing and optimization across channels.
- Partnering closely with Strategic Communications to align messaging, coordinate email content strategy and production, and create room for experimentation.
- Supporting program and communications staff to deliver effective, timely emails that keep supporters informed and engaged.

- Managing high-level vendor relationships, including contracts, costs, and delivery expectations.

Your Professional Profile:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in digital fundraising, grassroots engagement, or direct response programs, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role with direct revenue accountability.
- Demonstrated expertise running complex, high-volume email programs and multi-channel fundraising strategies at significant scale, ideally with a global or multilingual audience.
- Proven ability to set direction, create buy-in, and deliver measurable results for a program area — including defining evaluation criteria and iterating based on performance data.
- Experience managing and developing staff, including managing other managers; proven ability to lead remote or distributed teams effectively.
- Track record of managing significant external resources including agency relationships, platform vendors, and budget lines.
