Your role
The Manager, Software Engineering will be responsible for mentoring software engineers within their technical guild to develop their coding, adopt best practices, performance, documentation problem solving abilities in addition to contributing to our code base. The Manager, Software Engineering is also responsible for their direct reports training, providing necessary software and hardware tools, yearly reviews, conducting one-on-ones, career development, and coaching.
Experience You Bring
You're an experienced engineer turned people leader who loves building high-performing teams and high-quality systems. You’re as passionate about mentoring people as you are about writing great code.
- 10+ years of experience in software development, including hands-on backend experience
- 2+ years in an engineering leadership role, with a track record of coaching and growing technical teams
- Experience navigating the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and driving delivery across cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to give clear feedback and create a culture of trust and continuous improvement
- Strong technical grounding in modern backend frameworks; payment domain experience is a plus
- Comfortable managing performance, mentoring engineers, and facilitating career development
- Thoughtful communicator who can bridge technical and human conversations with ease

The Role You’ll Play:
As a Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform Engineer team, you’ll shape the backbone of our data strategy—designing scalable pipelines, championing governance, and enabling AI-ready infrastructure. You’ll lead cross-functional projects that fuel analytics, automation, and decision-making across the Playlist ecosystem. Your work will directly empower our teams to create personalized, real-world experiences for millions of users.
- Architect and optimize cloud-native data warehouse solutions that power real-time decisions and long-term strategy
- Design and scale dbt models across bronze/silver layers with a focus on data contracts, observability, and semantic consistency
- Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Fivetran, Snowpipe, and CDC to support streaming and batch workloads
- Lead the design of infrastructure-as-code deployments with Pulumi or Terraform, driving CI/CD maturity and cost-efficient operations
- Elevate data quality with comprehensive monitoring, anomaly detection, and validation frameworks
- Collaborate across squads to align data contracts, expand shared data marts, and support machine learning enablement
- Champion data governance, ensuring privacy and compliance through PII tagging, lineage, and role-based access controls
- Drive continuous platform improvement through systematic tech debt remediation and modernization initiatives
Experience You Bring:
- Strong expertise in data engineering, software engineering, platform architecture, or modern data warehousing
- Proficient in Python and SQL for automation, transformation logic, and data platform development
- Experience implementing observability standards, anomaly detection, and data quality validation
- Proven ability to lead complex, multi-squad initiatives and deliver scalable outcomes
- Hands-on experience with job orchestration and infrastructure as code (e.g., Pulumi, Terraform)
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles and architectural patterns such as star schemas and bronze/silver/gold layering

The Role You'll Play
At Mindbody, Core Engineering builds and evolves the foundational systems that help our products run reliably at scale. In this staff role, you’ll bring clarity to complex technical problems, guide architecture, and strengthen how we design, deliver, and operate the backend services that power real-world experiences.
- Lead cross-team technical execution, aligning architecture and delivery across multiple squads and core domains
- Design and evolve microservices patterns that improve reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Drive cloud and deployment improvements across AWS, Mindbody’s cloud platform, and our containerized deployment environment
- Partner with engineering and product leaders to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical plans and milestones
- Establish and socialize standards for service design, APIs, and relational data modeling (SQL)
- Strengthen monitoring and operational visibility using New Relic and Kibana, turning insights into durable system improvements
- Mentor and unblock engineers through design reviews, pairing, and practical guidance
- Reduce technical risk and complexity while balancing near-term delivery with long-term architecture health
The Experience You’ll Bring
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leading technical direction across teams through architecture proposals and design reviews
- Experience building and operating microservices in production environments with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Hands-on experience with AWS and containerized deployment environments
- Working knowledge of monitoring and logging practices using New Relic and Kibana
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational data modeling for high-integrity systems
- Comfort working across a multi-language backend ecosystem (ASP.NET, Python, C#, Ruby)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with web teams and front-end technologies (Next.js, React)

The goal of Playlist's compensation program is to be transparent, attract potential employees, meet the needs of all current employees, and encourage Team Members to stay with our organization. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.The base salary range for this position in the United States is $170,000 to $250,000. The total compensation package for this position may also include a performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.

Your role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be a part of Mindbody engineering team, you’ll pursue continuous improvement to help Mindbody achieve its mission: Powering the world’s fitness and wellness businesses and connecting them with more consumers, more effectively, than anyone else.
You’ll likely spend time working on
- Develops software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, following the software development lifecycle.
- Conducts systems analysis and makes recommendations to improve the system to achieve an outcome.
- Identifies opportunities for improving system reliability, security, and stability then working with product owners to prepare backlog items for the team.
- Promotes internal best practices and coding conventions to write and execute tests for your own code, including creating comprehensive unit tests.
- Contributes to technical documentation.
- Implements best practices based on companywide policies and standards.
- Occasional on-call rotation duty to respond to after-hours system incidents.

The Director of Engineering for the Payments Pillar will lead one of Playlist's most strategic and revenue-critical engineering organizations. Payments drives a major part of Playlist's total revenue and serves as a key retention lever—merchants using our payments solutions retain better than those who don't. You'll build and scale the engineering teams, architecture, and delivery capability that power payments across all Playlist brands (Mindbody, Booker, ClassPass, Kite, and future acquisitions). This is a highly visible role requiring both technical depth in payments/fintech and exceptional leadership skills to drive execution across distributed teams.
- Partner with Pillar co-leads, Product, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute the multi-year Payments strategy, balancing international expansion, reliability improvements, merchant experience, and platform modernization
- Own critical business outcomes including payments attach rate, success rate, merchant experience score, international GMV growth, and ARPS lift through embedded finance products
- Build and lead high-performing teams of 5-7 Engineering Managers and 60-80+ engineers across payment squads in the US and India
- Champion software development best practices, establish squad-level metrics for quality and velocity, and drive architectural decisions for scale and reliability
- Balance parallel workstreams across payment methods expansion, reliability/modernization, and embedded finance validation—ensuring sequencing clarity and delivery confidence
- Lead technical modernization efforts including migration from legacy ASP to .NET 8, PSP orchestration layer buildout, and architectural improvements to improve stability
- Influence stakeholders at all levels (ELT, Board, cross-functional partners) to build alignment and drive strategic initiatives forward
- Foster a collaborative, high-trust team culture across geographies that attracts, retains, and develops world-class engineering talent
- 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5+ years leading engineering teams of 50+ people, including multiple Engineering Managers
- Deep payments/fintech expertise with direct experience building and scaling payments systems, PSP integrations, payment orchestration, compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS), or embedded finance products
- Proven track record delivering complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives across distributed teams, balancing innovation with operational stability
- Experience managing engineering teams across time zones (US + India or similar), building strong culture and collaboration across geographies
- Technical depth with hands-on background as a senior engineer or architect, able to dive into system design, code reviews, and technical decision-making when needed
- Strong understanding of payments domain including card networks, payment gateways, tokenization, settlement/reconciliation, chargebacks, fraud/risk, and merchant onboarding (KYC/KYB)
- Experience with modern cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and familiarity with PCI-DSS, SOC 2, GDPR, and regional payment regulations
