As Marqeta's Executive Business Partner to our Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will provide steady, reliable support to our dynamic CFO in a fast-paced environment. You'll leverage your exceptional organizational skills, resilience, and composure to navigate shifting priorities with ease. Operating behind the scenes, you'll serve as a proactive, detail-oriented, and unflappable partner who takes pride in ensuring seamless operations and anticipating needs before they arise.
While we work Flexible First, this role requires in-person presence at our Oakland office every Tuesday, with additional in-office days as needed for key moments such as Board meetings and leadership team onsites. We'd love for you to join us!
The Impact You'll Have
- Provide primary executive support to the CFO - including calendar management, expense reports and complex travel arrangements
- Light administrative support (calendars and expenses) to select members of the CFO leadership team.
- Manage a complex and dynamic calendar, navigating frequent changes and prioritizing meetings with sound judgment.
- Coordinate domestic and international travel with precision - including flights, hotels, ground transport, and dining - ensuring alignment with the CFO’s preferences and standards.
- Prepare and process expense reports accurately and efficiently within a timely manner.
- Coordinate and prepare materials for team Town Halls, leadership team meetings and team on-sites in coordination with the CFO and the People Business Partner.
- Create, track and coordinate special projects such as team OKRs, operational calendars, etc.
- Assist in tracking and coordinating milestone and holiday gifts.
- Anticipate needs, stay several steps ahead, and respond quickly in a highly fluid environment.
- Manage light operational or finance-related activities such as purchase orders and vendor coordination.
- Be willing to jump in wherever needed - whether that’s coordinating a last-minute meeting, troubleshooting a travel issue, or running out to grab coffee.
- Communicate clearly and professionally across the CFO’s leadership team and cross-functional partners.
- Maintain discretion, professionalism, and a sense of humor - even when things change unexpectedly.
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience in administrative support, with 2+ years of Executive level support (either C-Suite at a similarly-sized firm, or VP+ at a larger company)
- Demonstrated ability to manage executives' calendar and administrative needs with precision, speed, discretion, and exceptional attention to detail
- Experience supporting an executive with access to highly sensitive information (ideally a CHRO, CFO, CLO, or comparable role)
- Ability to perform this role in-person in our Oakland office every Tuesday, with willingness to be present in-person for other key moments (Board meetings, leadership team onsites, etc)
- Strong proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and other key tools for managing work in a distributed global environment

- National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.

- Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:
- National: $102,000 - $127,500
- Premium: $110,400 - $138,000
- Premium Plus: $120,000 - $150,000

As Marqeta's Income Tax Senior Manager, you will manage all U.S. and international quarterly and annual tax reporting, and annual tax compliance. We are looking for a self-starter who excels at building structure, taking ownership of complex projects, and can collaborate well with cross-functional groups across the business in a fast-paced, global environment. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Tax.

The Impact You’ll Have
- Prepare quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provisions (US + local foreign) and disclosures in accordance with US GAAP, including SFAS 109 (ASC 740) and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10).
- Manage the monthly and quarterly close process, including preparing transfer pricing calculations for all the foreign subsidiaries, preparing tax journal entries and tax account reconciliations.
- Maintain and assist documentation of worldwide income tax provisions in complying with SOX 404 requirements.
- Research complex tax issues, monitor tax legislation and accounting standard update, and assist with the relevant tax impact analysis.
- Coordinate and prepare income tax returns with outside tax providers and review federal and international tax forms and state tax returns.
- Work with outside service providers to prepare annual US R&D credit. Manage income tax audits and respond to all tax notices and IDR requests.
- Identify and implement improvements in systems, tools and process to drive accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with special projects such as the TP strategy, M&A transactions, and Restructuring.
Who You Are
- CPA
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- At least 12+ years of relevant experience, and a minimum of 8 years of significant experience with ASC 740 and U.S. international tax matters (e.g., GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and FTC, tax treaty).
- At least 5+ years of work on in-house tax teams, with a strong understanding of the income tax regulations in all 50 states and at the Federal level.
- At least 4 years of work experience at a “Big 4” accounting firm focused on income tax provision.
- Experience working in a fast paced work environment, ideally in the tech industry.
- Timeliness: Strong deadline management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional collaborators to an outcome on a set timeline.
- Someone who is detail oriented and deadline oriented.
Nice-To-Haves
- Advanced degree in accounting and/or tax (MST, LLM) is a plus

As Marqeta’s Principal Software Engineer on the Core Issuing & Processing team, you will work across the entire domain to stand up and drive high-impact projects for our customers from inception to completion. The Core Issuing and Processing team owns the foundational stack that powers Marqeta's core business. We develop and maintain the systems that span six critical domains: Onboarding, Issuing, Digital Wallets, Authorization & Clearing, Transaction Controls, and Ledger. Together, these systems form the backbone of Marqeta's card issuing and payment processing platform.
The Impact You’ll Have
- Own the technical roadmap and author system designs that enable scalable, secure, and operationally efficient card issuing and payment processing products for our customers.
- Spend significant time in the codebase – writing, reviewing, and optimizing code across the issuing and processing stack.
- Identify and drive high-impact technical initiatives that improve the performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of our core processing engines.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to analyze requirements and provide technical recommendations across onboarding, issuing, digital wallets, authorization & clearing, transaction controls, and ledger.
- Mentor and guide technical leads, influence stakeholders, and establish success metrics to drive organization-wide technical excellence.
- Apply and evangelize modern best practices in your software designs and implementations to increase the platform's resiliency and scalability.
Who You Are
- 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Demonstrated passion for software engineering excellence, including design principles, fault tolerance practices, scalability, cost, security & privacy considerations, and test-driven development.
- Experience partnering with product teams to ideate and bring innovative solutions to market.
- Experience developing and scaling microservices using modern cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
- Experience working with high volume / low latency data infrastructures.
- Solid understanding of security engineering best practices and demonstrable experience in designing solutions that adhere to those standards.
- Passion for non-functional challenges, namely: Scale, Cost, Reliability, Performance, High Availability.
- Experience building systems running in multiple regions.
- Team-oriented approach – can effectively lead a project, participate as an influential team member, and work cross-functionally with other organizations.
- Experience with our tech stack, namely Java, Springboot, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Kafka, JPOS, and AWS services.
