The Role

As a Quant Developer at Man Group you will be part of one of our flagship teams in Man’s systematic trading arm - Man AHL. The team works hand-in-hand with Quant Researchers focusing on equity market neutral models. Your challenges will be varied, and will involve building new alphas and new trading strategies.

Quant Developers at Man Group are all part of our broader technology team, members of a group of over sixty individuals representing eighteen nationalities. Discretionary & Client Solutions Technology is ~35 engineers across London, New York, and Sofia, building the platforms that power Man Group's discretionary investment and client facing operations. We operate at high tempo — shipping multiple production releases weekly across portfolio analytics, fund data platforms, client reporting, data pipelines, dashboards, and AI tools.

The Team

You’ll play a critical role in building and maintaining the automation frameworks that underpin our End User infrastructure operations. As an System Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions, configuration management, monitoring systems, whilst also supporting business-as-usual activities.

The Team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Database Platform Engineer to join a team of highly skilled Engineers and DBAs who are responsible for managing the Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and SQL Server database estate.

The team are responsible for the day-to-day support and administration of the Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server and PostgreSQL database estate including engineering and all database related projects. The role involves working closely with other Infrastructure teams as well as developers and end users.

• Python skills. You don’t need to be a systems engineer, but you must be able to build prototypes, work with APIs, process data and help design features.

The Team

The team is currently undergoing significant investment in order to rationalise the trading capability across AHL, Numeric and the Discretionary teams.  The engineering team works exceptionally closely with both the Trading Desk and the Execution Research team in order to design, build and maintain a world-class trading capability.  We have trading floors in London, Hong Kong, Boston and New York and are responsible for trading in excess of 8 trillion dollars annually.

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Java Engineer you will be building the tools, platforms and algorithms that enable Man’s investment engines to drive forward their centralised global trading operation.

Your challenges will be varied and might involve building new execution algorithms, the platforms on which they run, simulation environments, intelligent order routing, connectivity to execution venues and brokers, tools for high touch and quant traders, monitoring capability, post-trade performance analysis and software to optimise all aspects of the trading lifecycle.

Our Technology

Our systems are almost all running on Linux and most of our code is in Java, with some Python and TypeScript.

We use Kafka as the backbone of our platform, Aeron, Git for source control, Jenkins for continuous integration, Grafana + Prometheus for metrics collection, Docker for containerisation, Ansible for architecture automation, and Slack for internal communication. But our technology list is never static, we constantly evaluate new tools and libraries.
