The Intern, Operations for the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) will assist with the day-to-day Operations of an 80-acre multi-sport facility operated by Major League Baseball that includes over 10 athletic fields, training facilities, an onsite hotel and dining room. This role will participate in all levels of the operation, from working hands-on in various departments to assisting with facility project coordination and event day support.  This role will provide an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills by direct involvement in the oversight of facility operations and events.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Coordinator, Facility Systems & Operations, with communication and event logistics for onsite operations staff.
• Assist with the development and organization of facility documents, reports and general office projects as needed.
• Support various operations departments through hands-on training not limited to Event Planning, Food & Beverage, Operations, Engineering, Housekeeping, Grounds, Security, and Information Technology. Gain exposure to many facility operations projects from beginning research, product/service selection process, project logistics, implementations, and project completion.
• Assist with setup and breakdown, both on and off the field, for all athletic and non-athletic events.

Qualifications & Skills

• The preferred candidate will have a two- or four-year degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. The Facilities Floor Care & Housekeeping Maintenance Specialist is a specialized housekeeping role responsible for advanced floor care, deep cleaning, and light, housekeeping-adjacent maintenance within guest rooms, restrooms, and common areas. The primary focus of this position is the appearance, cleanliness, and functional condition of finishes, surfaces, and fixtures typically maintained by a housekeeping department.

This role does not perform building, systems, or trade-level maintenance and does not replace the responsibilities of the JRTC Maintenance Department. Any repairs or issues beyond light, non-technical scope are identified and escalated to Maintenance.

During peak seasons and high-occupancy periods, this position will also support general housekeeping and service cleaning operations as needed.

The Spray Technician (Full-Time) is responsible for implementing and managing JRTC’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and fertilization programs across all athletic fields and landscaped areas. This role ensures all pesticide and fertilizer applications are conducted safely, effectively, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Spray Technician also supports the Grounds team with general maintenance and field readiness for programs, tournaments, and events.

Responsibilities

Integrated Pest Management

• Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive IPM program using biological, cultural, mechanical, and chemical control methods.
• Accurately identify pests, weeds, and diseases and determine appropriate treatment methods based on IPM principles and label requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of pesticide and fertilizer applications to ensure compliance with FDACS, OSHA, EPA, and MLB safety standards.
• Manage pesticide and fertilizer inventories, mixing, loading, calibration, and proper disposal of containers and materials.

The Steward and Utility Lead is a hands-on working role within JRTC’s Food & Beverage team. The Food Service Attendant (Food Preparation) supports JRTC’s kitchen operations by preparing and organizing food ingredients, ensuring consistency, quality, and proper storage. This role sets up prep stations, follows standardized recipes, and maintains food safety and sanitation standards. The Attendant works closely with cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient production and contributes to dining, catering, and concessions operations as needed.

Responsibilities 

Prep & Production

• Follow prep lists and directions from Chef Manager or kitchen leads
• Wash, chop, portion, and sort fruits, vegetables, and proteins for recipes
• Measure and prepare seasonings, sauces, and other ingredients
• Perform initial cooking steps (e.g., parboiling, reducing sauces) under direction
• Maintain consistency in portioning, recipe adherence, and presentation

Sanitation & Food Safety

• Keep prep stations clean, sanitized, and organized throughout each shift
• Label, date, and store ingredients, following FIFO (First-In, First-Out)
• Monitor food temperatures during prep and storage
• Comply with health, safety, and nutrition regulations

Operational Support

• Assist with production for concessions and catering as assigned
• Help with line setup, service support, and restocking during meal periods
• Provide backup support for dishwashing, dining room service, and event operations when needed

General

• Maintain communication with cooks and Chef Manager to ensure workflow runs smoothly
• Report low stock, quality issues, or equipment needs promptly
• Contribute to a team-oriented environment by assisting co-workers across outlets

Requirements

The Dining Attendant (Dining Services & Hospitality) is a front-of-house food service role supporting dining room operations, concessions, catering functions, on-field snack breaks, and staff breakrooms. This position ensures guests receive friendly, efficient service in a clean and welcoming environment. Dining Attendants replenish food and beverage products, maintain service areas, and assist with basic cash handling and inventory tasks to support a high-quality dining experience across JRTC’s events and programs.

Responsibilities

Guest Service

• Greet and serve guests in dining, concessions, catering, and breakroom areas in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and banquet/event service standards.
• Anticipate guest needs, resolve concerns promptly, and escalate issues to supervisors when necessary.
• Ensure consistent portion control and presentation of food and beverages.

Operational Support

• Set up, restock, and maintain food and beverage stations across dining, concessions, and hospitality areas.
• Support cash handling functions, including preparing opening funds, processing transactions, and reconciling POS sales at shift close in accordance with company policies.
• Assist with concessions bar service and breakroom stocking as directed.
• Maintain accurate communication with kitchen staff, management, and fellow servers to ensure smooth service. 

Sanitation & Safety

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service policies, including verifying guest identification where required.
• Clean and sanitize service areas, workstations, and equipment before, during, and after service.
• Ensure proper storage and labeling of food and beverage items.
• Adhere to JRTC safety standards and immediately report hazards or unsafe conditions.

Interdepartmental Coordination

• Partner with kitchen and management teams to support meal service, catering functions, and on-field snack breaks.
• Assist with basic inventory counts, reconciliation processes, and bar service support as assigned.

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Food & Beverage leadership team.

Qualifications & Skills

 Education & Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
• Prior guest service or food service experience strongly preferred
• Cash handling experience preferred

Major Purpose:

The Houseperson for the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) will maintain clean and sanitary rooms and common areas to ensure the best possible experience for guests.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain guest rooms, restrooms, public areas, offices, and meeting/conference rooms
• Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects (e.g., mattress flipping, furniture moves) as needed
• Dust, polish furniture and fixtures, vacuum, mop, sweep, shampoo carpets, wash windows, wax floors, and remove trash
• Perform laundry and general cleaning duties in other buildings at the JRTC as needed
• Maintain equipment in proper working condition and store it in designated areas
• Perform minor repairs in guest rooms and public areas
• Report any maintenance deficiencies or items in need of repair to the appropriate department
• Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Respond to guest requests and assist with cleaning rooms when required
• Deliver items to guest rooms, offices, and other departments as needed
• Handle "Lost and Found" items according to hotel policies
• Stock and maintain supply rooms and housekeeping closets
• Ensure housekeeping carts are properly equipped with necessary supplies

Major Purpose

The Housekeeper for the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) will maintain clean and sanitary hotel rooms and hotel common areas to ensure the best possible experience for guests.

Responsibilities

• Clean and arrange guest rooms to hotel standards for guests, including but not limited to vacuuming, linen changes, cleaning windows and walls, dusting, mopping, trash removal, and realignment of furniture and amenities
• Clean and maintain common areas of the hotel
• Stock and maintain housekeeping supply rooms and carts
• Ensure a high level of customer service is performed at all times
• Assist guests with request and questions as necessary
• Report any damages or repairs needed to management
• Report any maintenance or safety hazards
• Report all lost and found items to the Manager, Housekeeping

The Gate Attendant supports event operations at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex by managing guest entry points, selling tickets, directing guests, and providing a positive and welcoming first impression during Spring Training, tournaments, and special events.

Responsibilities

• Sell tickets at designated entry gates in accordance with established procedures
• Direct guests to appropriate parking areas, fields, and facilities
• Accurately prepare, balance, and reconcile assigned gate banks at the start and end of each shift
• Verify ticket envelopes to ensure correct ticket counts prior to distribution
• Answer guest questions, resolve basic issues, and provide high-quality guest service
• Communicate effectively with VIPs and special guests as directed by Operations leadership
• Maintain awareness of event operations and escalate issues or concerns to the Senior Coordinator, Facilities & Event Operations
• Perform other duties as assigned by Operations leadership

The Retail Attendant for the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) is responsible for selling JRTC merchandise at various events held at the complex.

Responsibilities

• Sell JRTC merchandise at JRTC tournaments, Spring Training games, MLB events, third-party tournaments and events, and additional special events as needed
• Set up merchandise table, point of sale equipment, display items, and bins of inventory when scheduled
• Meticulously record sales during shifts to keep track of inventory sold
• Take inventory of items at the beginning and end of each shift
• Balance daily financial transactions upon completion of shift
• Welcome guests and ensure customer satisfaction through superior customer service
• Answer questions about facility amenities, services, points of interest, and current/upcoming JRTC events
• Handle and resolve any potential issues with merchandise
• Report any accidents or injuries to management staff immediately
