Director, Product Management – ML Platform

Liftoff is seeking a Director of Product Management, ML Platform to holistically own the product strategy and execution for our machine learning infrastructure. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role at the intersection of deeply technical backend infrastructure and strategic product ownership. You will serve as a player/coach — driving the ML Platform product vision while directly mentoring and developing two PMs on your team.
The ideal candidate is deeply technical, has experience driving the product strategy of ML infrastructure at scale and able to balance short-term cross-functional support needs with longer-term generational upgrades. You thrive in fast paced environments, can translate complex ML constraints into prioritized roadmaps, work closely with internal stakeholders, and know how to build a strong performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the holistic product strategy, vision, and roadmap for the ML Platform, including backend infrastructure required to run ML models at scale and support new model iterations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop two IC Product Managers
- Drive execution of major platform initiatives including batch processing infrastructure, infrastructure cost visibility and R&D strategy, and platform hardening for reliability and uptime.
- Partner closely with multiple ML teams to understand their constraints, dependencies, and requirements, translating them into actionable engineering specifications and prioritized roadmaps.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance to set and track infrastructure cost targets, and with Product Managers across adjacent areas to align on shared platform needs.
- Establish and monitor platform KPIs around reliability, cost efficiency, and model enablement, driving continuous improvement.
- Architect and evolve the product function for ML Platform, establishing practices, frameworks, and ways of working that scale with the team.
- Serve as the primary product stakeholder voice for no-fault systems and new model type support, ensuring the platform meets the demands of next-generation ML development.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years focused on ML infrastructure, backend systems, or data platform products and 2 years of management experience.
- Proven experience as a player/coach: capable of setting strategic direction while remaining hands-on with technical specifications and day-to-day execution.
- Deep technical fluency in ML infrastructure concepts: model training pipelines, feature stores, batch and streaming data systems, and distributed computing.
- Strong stakeholder management skills — ability to gather, synthesize, and prioritize needs across multiple ML and engineering teams with competing priorities.
- Experience collaborating with Finance or business operations teams on infrastructure cost management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to operate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience architecting or significantly influencing the design of ML platform infrastructure.
- Familiarity with no-fault system design and high-availability production environments.
- Experience building or scaling a product management function within a technical domain.

Location:
This role is eligible for full-time remote with the United States or near one of our US hubs in Redwood City, Los Angeles or New York City.
Travel Expectations:

Compensation:
Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on candidate's location and experience.
The following are our base salary ranges for this role:
- SF Bay Area/Los Angeles/Orange County/Seattle: $260,000 to $320,000
- All other locations in our approved states: $239,000 to $294,000

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Programmatic Partner Manager to join the Exchange team at Liftoff. Our product is the Vungle Exchange which provides buyers with the programmatic reach to engage high-quality users in their favorite mobile apps at the right time with a premium ad experience.
The programmatic team manages hundreds of buyer relationships across the world, and you will be responsible for managing a revenue stream across both a new and existing book of programmatic partners across the US and EMEA. You'll manage relationships with established performance DSP partners while also proactively building new relationships with media agencies, holding companies, and brand advertisers to drive incremental spend to the Vungle Exchange through PMPs and Open Market. The role will work closely with exchange clients to strengthen existing relationships and seek opportunities to scale accounts by identifying cross-sell and up-sell opportunities. In addition, the Programmatic Partner Manager will be responsible for sourcing new exchange partners, onboarding them through our processes, and working with them to scale growth on the Vungle Exchange. Each facet of the process involves multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Forecast revenue and manage a pipeline of potential and current business across both performance and brand/agency demand channels
- Develop strong relationships with key accounts across the US and EMEA, including performance DSPs, brand advertisers, agencies, and agency trading desks
- Proactively prospect and build relationships with media agencies, holding companies, and brand advertisers to drive incremental spend to Vungle Exchange through PMPs and Open Market
- Structure and negotiate PMP deals and preferred deal opportunities with brand and agency buyers
- Work closely with internal teams (Legal, Finance, Ops, Product) to structure deals that maximize revenue for all constituents
- Educate brand and agency buyers on Vungle Exchange's inventory quality, ad formats, audience reach, and brand safety capabilities
- Synthesize customer feedback from both performance and brand buyers to help inform the product roadmap
- Attend industry events to evangelize Vungle Exchange and our technology
- Understand your clients' strategic goals — whether performance KPIs or brand awareness objectives — and develop plans to partner on those goals
- Identify and close strategic up-selling and cross-selling opportunities by understanding core client business and product needs
- Drive a full sales cycle pipeline: building pipelines, pitching, and closing business
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, with client-facing experience spanning performance and/or brand advertising
- Demonstrated experience working with agencies, trading desks, or brand advertisers in a programmatic environment
- Familiarity with PMP deal mechanics, deal ID workflows, and programmatic buying through major DSPs (The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, DV360)
- Understanding of brand advertising KPIs (viewability, completion rates, brand safety, reach/frequency) alongside performance metrics (ROAS, CPI, CPA)
- Ability to travel as needed for in-person client meetings and industry events, including occasional travel to EMEA
- Comfortable managing accounts across US and EMEA time zones, with flexibility for early or late calls as needed
- An entrepreneurial and ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- A relationship builder with the ability to build meaningful connections with clients across both performance and brand/agency ecosystems
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to tell a story with data; strong understanding of data analysis and visualization. Prior experience with Rill, Looker, or Excel preferred
- Effective communicator who can tailor messaging to performance buyers, brand marketers, and agency stakeholders alike
- Experience in the tech industry — mobile, gaming, ad tech, e-commerce, or consulting are a strong plus
- Clear understanding of Programmatic Advertising across both open exchange and private marketplace environments
- High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

About this Role
This role sits within the Creative Strategy team and is dedicated to developing and executing creative strategy solutions that drive performance across Liftoff’s highest-value customer portfolio. As a key member of the Creative Studio team, you will work closely with Commercial, Ops, and Creative stakeholders to craft bespoke creative strategies that align with both customer goals and Liftoff's business objectives.
By delivering data-informed recommendations and managing high-touch creative projects from concept to execution, you will ensure that creative strategy is a measurable commercial accelerator. You will report on creative trends, identify growth opportunities, and help build practices that support innovation, efficiency, and insight-led performance improvements for Premium accounts.
Responsibilities
Customer & Creative Strategy
- Develop effective creative strategies tailored to premium customer goals and Liftoff's commercial objectives.
- Deliver quarterly planning for creative campaigns, including milestone setting and creative goal alignment.
- Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions to generate high-impact creative concepts that address customer-specific needs.
- Analyze creative performance data to extract actionable insights and optimize strategy using Looker and other internal tools.
- Pitch creative recommendations as upsell opportunities.

About this team:
As a Senior Programmatic Exchange Analyst, you will be a critical bridge between auction intelligence and commercial execution. You will investigate auction-level dynamics, diagnose revenue leakage, and partner closely with the Vungle Exchange Commercial team to unblock revenue and optimize DSP outcomes. This role is highly analytical and business-facing: you will extract signals from noisy auction data, translate it into actionable recommendations, and collaborate with commercial and product stakeholders to implement changes.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze auction data (bidding patterns, floors, traffic shaping, mediation) to identify performance drivers and commercial risks.
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into revenue fluctuations and DSP requests, separating technical from commercial root causes.
- Quantify the revenue impact of auction mechanics and surface opportunities for growth.
- Work hand-in-hand with the Vungle Exchange Commercial team to resolve DSP-facing blockers tied to exchange dynamics.
- Provide data-backed recommendations that balance publisher objectives with optimal auction outcomes.
- Support negotiations with insights that protect business outcomes and drive incremental revenue.
- Build and maintain monitoring frameworks to detect anomalies early and ensure fast triage.
- Standardize and automate recurring analyses.
- Document and communicate methodologies clearly for cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
- B.A./B.S. in Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, strategy, or operations; AdTech or programmatic exchange experience strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of programmatic auctions, SSP/DSP mechanics, and mediation platforms.
- Hands-on experience with openRTB protocols, including interpreting bid requests/responses, auction dynamics, and understanding of post-auction and win-notification flows.
- VAST and MRAID familiarity, particularly how it related to oRTB spec
- Proven ability to connect rigorous data analysis to business priorities — translating complex auction dynamics into actionable insights that drive commercial outcomes in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Comfortable leveraging modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, etc.) to enhance productivity, analysis, and decision-making, demonstrating an AI-savvy approach.
- Familiarity with Python for data analysis, automation, and pipeline development is a plus.
- Clear communicator with the ability to translate complex concepts for both technical and commercial audiences, fostering strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, R&D, and Commercial teams

About the Revenue Engine team
The Revenue Engine team works to understand the fundamental economics of the mobile ad tech marketplace, including the elasticity of demand and the effects of competition. The team of machine learning engineers, software engineers, and data analysts develops theories, validates those theories with experiments and analyses, and uses the learnings to build production systems that improve outcomes for Liftoff and its advertisers.
As a Machine Learning Engineer on the Revenue Engine team, you will:
- Build statistical models and production systems to balance advertiser performance with business goals.
- Tune optimization parameters, measure internal competition, and model dynamic environments.
- Design and run experiments to validate theories underpinning the mobile ad tech economy.
- Develop applications in the areas of advertiser budget retention and growth, optimal margin allocation, and bidding innovations.
- Collaborate with a team of world-class engineers with diverse backgrounds as well as peers across the broader company (e.g. Operations, GTM).
- Use strong communication skills (verbal and written) to explain statistical and machine learning concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Be part of an “engineering excellence” culture through state-of-the-art tools, risk-driven testing, explainable systems, and design/code review.
Requirements:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, or a related field.
- Industry experience applying economics or machine learning to large scale problems.
- Solid engineering and coding skills.

Travel Expectations:
We offer several opportunities for in-person team gatherings, including but not limited to project meetings, regional meetups, and company-wide events. Compensation:
Liftoff offers all employees a full compensation package that includes equity and health/vision/dental benefits associated with your country of residence. Base compensation will vary based on the candidate's location and experience.
The following are our base salary ranges for this role:
- SF Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, NYC, Seattle: $235,000 - $275,000
- All other cities and towns in our approved states: $215,000 - $255,000

The team you’ll be joining:
The Monetize team manages our key ad monetization partner relationships across the Americas, and you will be tasked with identifying new opportunities as well as managing and growing existing revenue. The role will work closely with potential and existing publisher clients to strengthen relationships and seek opportunities to scale the account by identifying up-sell opportunities and evangelizing new products.
The fit we're looking for:
We are looking for someone with experience in both closing new business and strengthening existing relationships. This person should have industry experience and a high say/do ratio. They need to be a problem solver who can find opportunities even in tough situations. Most importantly, we want someone motivated to wear multiple hats and work across different teams to help grow our business.
Responsibilities:
- Forecast revenue and manage a pipeline of potential and current business
- Serve as the main point of contact in all matters related to client concerns and needs
- Grow key existing partnerships through a deep understanding of our products and service offerings to upsell and cross-sell to clients
- Develop strong relationships with decision makers in our key accounts in North America
- Put together, attend, and lead client meetings and QBRs
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams (Legal, Finance, Ops, Product, Demand) to structure deals that maximize revenue for all constituents and to ensure client satisfaction
- Synthesize customer feedback and help inform the product roadmap
- Attend industry events to evangelize Liftoff and our technology
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in managing new and existing business, attaining quota or quarterly revenue targets
- Track record of leading successful client negotiations to close new business
- A strong understanding of data analysis and visualization, and the ability to extract and clearly communicate insights from complex data sets
- A relationship builder with the ability to build meaningful connections with clients
- An entrepreneurial and ambitious self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment
- Comfortable working autonomously as well as part of a team
- Effective communicator
- Experience in the tech industry—mobile, gaming, ad tech, e-commerce, or consulting is a strong plus
- Exemplary organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to travel up to 25% for in-person client meetings

- Austin, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Boston, Denver, Portland: $78,000 to $97,000 base + variable = OTE $104,000 to $128,000
- All other cities and towns in our approved states: $73,000 to $90,000 base + variable = OTE $97,000 to $120,000
