How you’ll make an impact:
- Develop quantitative cell-based assays to facilitate SAR and MOA studies for novel degraders.
- Perform various solution and plate-based assays to evaluate changes in biomarkers from primary human cells and animal models.
- Maintain good written records of laboratory procedures and communicate research findings in cross-functional project team meetings.
- Review literature and conference proceedings to identify emerging technologies/assays and execute exploratory efforts for internal validation.
Skills and experience you’ll bring:
- BS with 3+ years or MS with 1+ years of relevant lab experience in immunology, cell biology, or related field.
- Mammalian cell culture experience including both immortalized and primary human cells
- Proficiency with molecular and cell biology techniques including ELISA, MSD, AlphaLISA, western blot, and flow cytometry
- Independent mindset to execute experiments, analyze, and interpret results with minimal supervision while proactively seeking help and guidance.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills and familiarity with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN).
- Previous experience in TPD is desirable but not required; innovative and growth mindset to execute and learn new things is essential.

Compensation
- Kymera offers a competitive compensation package that recognizes both results and capabilities through market-based, performance-driven pay.
- The anticipated base salary range for this role is $85,000 – $120,000, with eligibility for annual bonus, equity participation, and comprehensive benefits.
- Actual salary is based on a holistic evaluation of the specific role/level as well as each candidate’s depth of experience and the capabilities they bring to the position.

How you’ll make an impact:
- Develop, optimize, and implement targeted proteomics analysis workflows, including automated enrichment strategies, to deliver precise, accurate, and sensitive protein measurements that inform drug discovery and development decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement and qualify assays that drive pipeline decision-making.
- Communicate proactively with project teams and within the proteomics function to coordinate sample availability, align timelines, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Manage and oversee activities at contract research organizations (CROs), including assay transfer, qualification, and performance monitoring, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and data quality standards.
- Perform targeted protein mass spectrometry (MS) assays using state-of-the-art LC-MS systems—including nano-LC and Orbitrap platforms—to determine pharmacodynamic (PD) effects, quantify biomarkers, and qualify assays for clinical studies.
- Prepare samples from a wide variety of biological matrices (cultured cells, tissues, plasma, biofluids) from both human and preclinical species using manual and automated bead-based workflows.
- Perform and interpret quantitative proteomics data analyses using software such as Skyline, MaxQuant, DIANN, and Spectronaut; generate clear, data-driven reports for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Maintain, qualify, and troubleshoot HPLC and MS instrument performance to ensure reliability and reproducibility.
- Present scientific results and strategic recommendations to internal project teams, senior leadership, and external collaborators in a clear, concise, and influential manner.
Skills and experience you’ll bring:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or Chemical Biology with a minimum of 2 years of experience in targeted, mass spectrometry–based proteomics in an industry or startup biotech setting; or BS/MS with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Broad expertise in targeted proteomics, including:
- Development and deployment of highly multiplexed and sensitive PRM or MRM stable isotope–labeled peptide assays using DDA and DIA data.
- Development of immunoaffinity enrichment methods to enhance MS sensitivity.
- Optimization of protein recovery from complex biological matrices (cells, tissues, plasma, biofluids) and various sample formulations (fresh, frozen, FFPE) across preclinical species.
- Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of nanoLC and Orbitrap MS instrumentation.
- Quantitative analysis and report generation using Skyline and related proteomics data tools.
- Demonstrated ability to independently analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate targeted proteomics data and conclusions to multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven success collaborating across functional areas and managing CRO relationships to deliver qualified assays that support drug discovery and clinical development.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet TPD drug discovery timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with regulatory filings (e.g., IND) and qualification of MS assays for clinical applications preferred.
- Working knowledge of automated sample processing, including immunoaffinity capture MS assays, is a plus.

How you’ll make an impact:
- Working closely with program teams towards addressing key biology and chemistry questions
- Develop and optimize sample preparation and mass spectrometry methods for deep quantitative analysis of cell and tissue total proteomes as well as post-translational modifications.
- Perform maintenance, quality control and troubleshooting of instruments, including HPLCs and mass spectrometers
- Establish robust nLC-MS-based data acquisition and analysis workflows
- Provide documentation, analysis, interpretation and presentation of experimental data in a clear and concise manner
- Present scientific results and strategic recommendations to internal project teams, senior leadership, and external collaborators in a clear, concise, and influential manner.
- Stay up to date on proteomics methods and technologies
- Proactively recognize and solve technical and scientific issues to ensure high quality proteomics data is generated for the progression of drug discovery projects.
Skills and experience you’ll bring:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related discipline, with 3+ years of quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics experience, or 7+ years of industry experience in proteomics.
- Extensive hands-on experience in proteomics is required including:
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot, analyze, and interpret proteomics data with attention to detail, to recommend and execute next steps.
- High level of proficiency in a variety of quantitative proteomics techniques including DIA, label-free quantification and peptide fragmentation methods.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting HPLCs and mass spectrometers.
- Developing methods and performing nano LC-MS/MS experiments using Orbitrap Astral or Orbitrap Exploris 480 mass spectrometers.
- Experience in computational analysis and downstream statistical analysis software packages, such as DIANN, Perseus, R or Python, to address key program questions.
- Ability to work in an agile, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Lead from the lab for activities include hit validation, lead optimization, target validation, and small molecule mechanism of action studies
- Experience with PTM analysis (phosphorylation and ubiquitination), protein interaction analysis, and targeted proteomics are a plus.
- Experience in low abundance protein isolation from complex biological samples including cells, tissue and biofluids and affinity enrichment to selectively enrich sub-proteomes and experience with automation and liquid handling systems are a plus.
- Experience in mapping protein-protein interactions by mass spectrometry with pulldown approaches, proximity labeling and XL-MS are a plus
- Tissue culture experience with suspension and adherent cell lines is a plus
