As an Engineering Manager at Instabase, you will lead a team responsible for the full-stack development of enterprise software, working closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver high-impact solutions. This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, strategic leadership, and the ability to foster an engineering culture of innovation and excellence.
The Product Engineering team at Instabase is responsible for all products across the platform, including core ML capabilities, no-code/low-code tools for automation, and scalable execution backends. Our teams serve both external customers and internal users, solving real-world use cases through frequent cross-team collaboration.
What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership – Build, manage, and develop a team of high-performing engineers, providing mentorship and career development while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with product, design, and technical writing teams to define the roadmap and drive execution.
- End-to-End Execution – Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from capacity planning and roadmapping to prototyping and production deployment.
- Technical Leadership – Contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions within your product area.
- Quality & Operational Excellence – Establish and uphold best practices to maintain a high-quality bar for all deliverables, ensuring reliability, scalability, and usability.
- Innovation & AI Integration – Leverage modern AI tools to improve team productivity and enhance product capabilities.
About You
- Experience – 5+ years of engineering management experience, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- AI & Data Expertise – Strong background in AI, ML, and data-driven products, with experience building and scaling intelligent applications.
- Startup Mentality – Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment, navigating ambiguity, and driving impactful results.
- Technical Proficiency – Deep knowledge of modern technology stacks, including cloud infrastructure, container orchestration systems, TypeScript, React, and related tools.
- SaaS & Enterprise Experience – Proven ability to deliver SaaS-based enterprise software solutions at scale.
- Process & Productivity – Experience implementing SDLC, and leveraging modern productivity software (Jira, Confluence, Figma, etc.).
- AI-Driven Development – Passion for integrating modern AI tools to optimize development workflows.
Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $280,00 to $300,000 + bonus, equity, and benefits. The actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and skills.

We are seeking a visionary Staff Software Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. In this high-leverage role, you will be instrumental in defining, architecting, and evolving the core systems and platforms that underpin the entire Instabase product. You will be responsible for tackling the most ambiguous, complex technical challenges on our multi-quarter roadmap.
This is a critical role for an exceptional "Product-minded Engineer." You will drive end-to-end technical strategy, from writing high-level design documents and translating Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) into architectural plans, to overseeing the development of highly-available frontend experiences, scalable services, and resilient infrastructure.
What you’ll do:
- Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, distributed systems and infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud-native technologies). You will be the domain expert for core services built in Go and Python, ensuring optimal performance, security, and stability.
- Engineering Force Multiplier: Define and drive the technical strategy for internal platforms and systems that maximize the velocity, reliability, and observability of all engineering teams across the organization.
- Technical Strategy & Mentorship: Act as a technical leader, driving cross-functional alignment on complex projects. You will mentor senior engineers, establish best practices, and be the ultimate owner for identifying and resolving root causes for critical, systemic issues.
About you:
- Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a technical field (e.g., Physics or Mathematics), with a deep focus on complex systems.
- Experience: 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of designing, building, and scaling mission-critical systems and platforms.
- Backend Expertise: Expert proficiency in Go and Python, with a deep, pragmatic understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and building highly-scalable APIs.
- Frontend Expertise: Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript) for architecting and optimizing complex, data-rich web applications with a focus on engineering efficiency.
- Infrastructure & Orchestration: Expert-level knowledge of distributed orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and significant experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Deep expertise in relational databases, specifically operational excellence with PostgresDB.
- Product Thinking & System Design: You possess an aptitude for defining product requirements and user experience (UX) and are comfortable writing high-level design documents that define the technical future of Instabase.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills to represent and defend complex technical and product decisions to executive leadership and the wider engineering organization.
Good to have:
- Experience defining, building, and maintaining multi-platform applications, including React Native or other mobile technologies.
- Experience operating within a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment, taking on multi-functional responsibilities.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $237,500 to $255,000 + bonus, equity, and US benefits. The actual pay may vary based on factors such as location, experience, and skills.
