Position Summary:

IEM is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Manufacturing Engineer, E2) for our Surrey, B.C. locations and will report into the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer with experience working in a medium to high-mix volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving process improvements, implementing standard work, and leading continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving and Kaizen methodologies. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting and has a passion for lean manufacturing and operational excellence.

Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey offices and does not offer remote work.

Key Responsibilities:            

• Design, optimize, and implement manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
• Lead and participate in Kaizen events, root cause problem solving (8D, A3, DMAIC), and continuous improvement projects.
• Develop and maintain standard work instructions for production processes.
• Use data-driven analysis (SPC, Pareto, time studies) to identify and resolve process bottlenecks or defects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to introduce new products and process changes.
• Support equipment selection, process validation, and layout optimization for lean flow.
• Lead PFMEA, control plans, and risk assessments for manufacturing processes.
• Ensure processes comply with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Train and mentor operators and technicians on process changes and lean tools.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related technical field).
• 3–7 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role. Proven experience with Kaizen, standard work, time studies, line balancing, material flow, and structured problem-solving tools (A3, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA, etc.).
• Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
• Experience with ERP/MES systems, engineering change control, and work instruction platforms.
• Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The purpose of the Continuous Improvement Engineer, IEM360 role is to provide high-impact support role responsible for deploying and sustaining our enterprise-wide operating system across functions and sites. Modeled on world-class systems such as the Danaher Business System and Crane Business System, IEM360 is IEM’s framework for driving continuous improvement, lean enterprise transformation, and strategic execution. The IEM360 CI Engineer partners with functional and plant leaders to drive measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
• The position requires collaboration with other roles to drive measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead IEM360 Deployment: Drive the implementation of IEM Business System tools and processes across operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial functions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Kaizen Facilitation: Plan, lead, and coach cross-functional kaizen events focused on lean fundamentals, standard work, visual management, flow, problem-solving, and strategic growth/capacity initiatives.
• Capability Building: Develop internal capability by training and coaching team members and leaders at all levels in lean thinking, daily management, and continuous improvement practices.
• Business System Maturity: Assess business system maturity across plants and functions; create and execute improvement roadmaps using tools such as maturity models, Hoshin Kanri, tiered daily management, and KPI dashboards.
• Change Leadership: Act as a catalyst for cultural transformation, enabling teams to embrace standardization, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
• Performance Management: Partner with site leadership to embed IEM360 into key processes such as policy deployment (Hoshin), S&OP, new product introduction, and operational reviews.
• Best Practice Sharing: Identify, document, and disseminate internal best practices. Benchmark against external best-in-class organizations and adapt appropriately for IEM.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field; MBA or Master’s preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or continuous improvement, preferably in a multi-site or matrixed industrial environment.
• Deep understanding of Lean principles (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping, standard work, visual management, PDCA, SMED, A3 problem-solving).
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional kaizen events and system-wide CI initiatives.
• Understanding of basic ops finance, including P&L impact, cost drivers, and fixed vs. variable costs
• Strong facilitation, project management, and communication skills.
• Experience working in or with a formal business system (e.g., DBS, CBS, strongly preferred)
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Position Summary:

IEM is currently seeking a Control Engineering Technician for our Surrey, BC and will report into the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager for the automation integration team. The Technician is responsible for installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems to improve safety, quality, and productivity. This role supports automation projects from concept through installation, validation, and production launch while supporting ongoing manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing systems and equipment
• Support automation projects through installation, testing, validation, and production startup
• Support programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems, including assisting with root cause analysis for downtime events
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of process documentation, including work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans
• Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to support daily manufacturing operations
• Collect and analyze production data to help improve throughput, reduce scrap, and increase OEE
• Assist with capital equipment projects, including vendor coordination and basic project tracking
• Follow and support compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Qualifications

• Technical degree or certification in electrical or mechanical engineering technology
• 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing automation
• Hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and vision systems
• Strong troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Experience leading projects and working with external vendors
