PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Occupational Health Nurse oversees employee health case management and coordinates care with providers to support recovery and return to work after injury or illness. Reporting to EHS, this role collaborates with HR, Worker’s Comp, and site leadership. Responsibilities include administering first aid, assessing the need for further care or medical assessment, case management, audiometric scheduling, reviewing respirator medical questionnaire evaluations,  fit-for-duty evaluations, ergonomic assessments, and health education initiatives. The nurse will follow defined occupational health programs and policies. Prior experience in occupational health within manufacturing or field operations is required. Strong clinical judgment, organizational, and documentation skills are essential. This is an on-site role based in Jacksonville.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide medical care, triage for injured/ill employees in the Jacksonville facilities
• Coordinate care, follow-up appointments, restrictions and return to work between employees, HR and local established occupational health providers.
• Participate in evaluations with EHS for work-relatedness determinations
• Coordinate medical monitoring related to noise exposure or respiratory protection
• Wellness program coordination with HR including development wellness educational campaigns

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Registered nurse licensed in one of the Nursing License Compact states
• Occupational health nurse certification including COHN, COHN-S and/or CM
• 3-5 years occupational health experience

• Detailed case management, excellent observational and triage skills
• Able to maintain composure and work effectively under emergency situations
• Strong knowledge of OSHA Recordkeeping standard and industrial health standards
• Employee health experience
• Able to conduct evaluations or assessments of work activities in facilities wearing PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves as needed)
• Current, certified Red Cross First Aid and AED trainer a plus
• Experience in ergonomic evaluations desired
• Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week. Thorough compliance knowledge

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management program that strives to go beyond regulatory compliance.  This role will ensure that IEM follows all applicable federal, state and local regulations, including but not limited to occupational safety and health, waste management, environmental regulatory compliance, workers compensation, chemical control and industrial hygiene. The EHS Manager also contributes to efforts that build a strong safety culture and ensure proactive measures to continuously improve IEM’s EHS program. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and is comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position requires a high level of interaction with all functions throughout the organization, including both verbal and written communication.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Serve as primary technical resource for employee questions and concerns involving Environmental Health and Safety issues 
• Lead the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs
• Develop, plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and national regulations including those governed by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the corporate EHS strategy
• Maintain EHS documentation including OSHA logs, policies, forms, chemical inventory, training records, inspection records and facility Safety Reviews
• Develop and deliver effective Environment Health and Safety training programs for covered facilities
• Lead and participate in the Safety Team meetings, including development, recruitment, and implementation of team meetings and activities
• Support facility recycling and waste management program
• Keep current the safety data sheet (SDS) management system
• Perform safety inspections and surveys; prepare reports of findings and make recommendations on preventative measures where necessary
• Set tone for a positive, learning Safety culture through a robust Injury and Illness prevention program, observations, concern reporting and leading Safety indicators
• Conduct post-incident investigations, prepare reports identifying possible incident causes and hazards; present recommendations for solutions to these hazards in the future
• Serve as backup for Facilities Management in routine and emergency response situations
• Support sustainability/corporate social responsibility efforts across the organization
• Advise leadership team on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

IEM is currently seeking an EHS Specialist for our Jacksonville, FL, specifically for our second shift, and will report to the EHS Manager. The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting and advancing environmental, health, and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards while proactively identifying opportunities to improve workplace safety and environmental performance.

The EHS Specialist partners with operations, quality, and leadership teams to implement effective safety initiatives, conduct investigations, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement in safety culture. This role requires strong regulatory knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Occasional travel (<10%) may be required.

Please note: Second shift hours are from 3:00pm to 11:30pm ET. This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Jacksonville, FL offices and does not offer remote work.  

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of facility EHS programs and initiatives.
• Conduct routine and compliance-driven safety inspections including cranes, emergency eyewash/showers, forklifts, and other regulated equipment. Track audit findings and ensure timely corrective actions and closure.
• Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
• Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and PPE hazard assessments for new equipment, processes, and operational changes.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs, including new hire orientation, regulatory training, and refresher safety courses.
• Maintain and update facility emergency response plans, evacuation maps, and emergency preparedness programs.
• Manage and maintain the chemical inventory system and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database, ensuring compliance with Globally Harmonized System (GHS) standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify safety risks and implement practical engineering or administrative controls.
• Support regulatory compliance activities including OSHA requirements, recordkeeping, and environmental reporting where applicable.
• Analyze safety metrics, inspection data, and incident trends to identify improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with internal and external EHS audits and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Support and promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement, communication, and leadership support.

Qualifications:

• 3–7 years of EHS experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard analysis, incident investigation, and safety program implementation.
• Experience with safety management systems, regulatory compliance, and EHS training programs preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, or equivalent are a plus.
