We’re looking for a senior software engineer with deep expertise in 3D geometry, graphics, and visualization to help us push the boundaries of what’s possible in immersive, high-impact user experiences.
As part of our 3D & Measurements team, you’ll help build and evolve the core systems behind our industry-leading products, including our PDF measurements report, Workspace (for exteriors), and Virtual Walkthrough (for interiors). You’ll collaborate closely with talented designers and engineers across frontend, backend, graphics, and DevOps to create cutting-edge 3D solutions that directly serve our customers’ needs.

You will contribute by
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable 3D measurement systems that help customers with our industry-leading measurement reports
- Driving innovation in 3D tooling with modern graphics and geometry-processing technologies.
- Contributing directly to products like Workspace and Virtual Walkthrough, enhancing both the visual fidelity and interactivity of our 3D experiences.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to integrate 3D experiences into a unified frontend and backend ecosystem.
- Providing technical leadership in defining architecture, tools, and best practices for 3D product development.
- Helping shape Hover’s long-term technical direction in 3D visualization, aligning with broader company goals.
Your background includes
- 5+ years of experience in 3D visualization, graphics, Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG), geometry processing, or CAD-related software.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with a willingness to learn new languages and frameworks.
- Strong foundation in mathematics (linear algebra, geometry, etc.) and a passion for applying it to real-world challenges through code.
- Demonstrated ability to define technical requirements and create clear, actionable documentation for open-ended problems.
- Full-stack experience and a desire to bring your 3D tools to life through modern web development practices.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with WebGL and libraries such as three.js or babylon.js.
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks like React or Angular.
- Background in 3D modeling software (e.g., Houdini, SketchUp, 3DS Max)—bonus if you’ve developed plugins or custom tooling.
- Backend experience in Ruby, Node.js, or similar technologies.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $194,000 - $239,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Our Mobile team is a close-knit group of engineers across Rails, iOS, React Native, and Android who are deeply invested in craft, reliability, and customer experience. We own and evolve the mobile platform that sits at the core of Hover’s business — the systems that turn real-world property data into precise 3D models and measurements relied on by contractors and insurers every day. We collaborate closely across engineering, product, and design to continuously improve core customer journeys while scaling our platform with confidence.
In this role, you’ll work across the stack — designing scalable backend APIs, improving data flows, and refining intuitive frontend experiences — helping us build products that are performant, resilient, and thoughtfully crafted. You will contribute by
You’ll design and build scalable backend services and APIs that power our mobile platform, while continuously improving reliability, performance, and observability across the stack. You’ll write clear technical specifications, contribute to architecture decisions, and thoughtfully evolve systems with testing and long-term maintainability in mind. You’ll debug complex challenges that span backend and mobile layers, collaborate through pairing and design discussions, and partner closely with Engineering, Product, Design, and QA to ship high-impact features grounded in real user feedback. Through this work, you’ll strengthen the foundation of Hover’s mobile experience and help us scale with confidence.
Your background includes
- 5–8+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with strong backend expertise and proficiency in Ruby on Rails
- Experience designing, building, and operating production systems with a focus on reliability and performance
- Experience designing and building APIs, ideally for mobile or distributed consumers
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience building and deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS and/or GCP)
- Hands-on experience with testing across the stack (unit, integration, and end-to-end)
- Comfort contributing across modern frontend frameworks (React or similar) and collaborating across the full stack when needed
- Experience delivering features end-to-end — from technical design through implementation and iteration
- Comfort working cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Infrastructure partners
- Ability to prioritize effectively and focus on high-impact work in fast-moving environments
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Bonus Points:
- Experience working with mobile applications (React Native, Swift, or Kotlin)
- Experience collaborating with external partners or cross-functional stakeholders on shared initiatives

We’re looking for a Software Engineer who’s passionate about geometry, automation, and real-world impact. In this role, you’ll design and implement the systems that transform customer-captured imagery into highly accurate 3D models—advancing the scalability and precision of Hover’s modeling pipeline. You’ll collaborate closely with designers and engineers across frontend, backend, computer vision, and DevOps to bring new capabilities to life, combining technical depth with strong communication and cross-functional partnership.
The 3D Modeling Pipeline team builds the tools our in-house operations rely on to transform customer-captured scans into highly accurate, detailed 3D models of buildings. The team is also responsible for developing the pipeline and systems that process 3D data through automated and manual steps, and for exporting data to customer-facing formats.
You will contribute by
- Owning and evolving the backend systems that transform raw scan data into precise 3D models, ensuring reliable delivery to key ecosystem partners such as Xactimate and Cotality.
- Building and enhancing internal modeling tools that empower teams to generate, validate, and optimize high-quality 3D data efficiently.
- Collaborating with ML and computer vision engineers to bring new algorithms into production, bridging research and real-world applications.
- Improving customer and partner experiences by refining how Hover’s 3D outputs integrate into downstream workflows and external platforms.
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement across our modeling pipelines through curiosity, experimentation, and high technical standards.
Your background includes
- CS degree and 4-6 years of experience in a software development role; preferably in a startup. Alternatively a STEM degree with 5-7 years experience.
- Strong software engineering skills with at least 2 years of experience in one of the languages used in our stack (e.g., Ruby or JavaScript/TypeScript) and an eagerness to learn new technologies as needed.
- Passion and knack for working closely with internal operations and/or support teams.
- Proven experience designing and implementing systems for 3D modeling, reconstruction, or CAD-related software — ideally with a solid foundation in geometry and 3D math.
- Comfort driving forward on ambiguous technical problems and driving them from concept to delivery.
- Clear, concise technical documentation and communication skills that enable alignment across engineering, product, and operations teams.
Nice to have:
- A knack for observability and monitoring.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar backend frameworks.
- Experience with React, 3JS or other FE frameworks.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling tools like Houdini, SketchUp, Rhino, or 3DS Max.
- Experience developing plugins or automation tools for 3D software.
- Background in procedural modeling, geometry processing, or parameterization.
