Role Overview
As a Software Engineer II, you design, build, and iterate on product features that deliver meaningful outcomes for our Pros. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, shipping small, incremental improvements while maintaining high standards for quality, performance, and reliability. You contribute across our application stack, focusing on engineering quality and polyglot ability rather than a single specific framework.
In addition to feature development, you contribute to improving engineering workflows and developer experience (DevEx) within your team. You identify friction in testing, deployment, and local development processes and collaborate with peers to improve tooling, automation, and reliability. You grow as a versatile engineer while gaining exposure to cloud-native patterns and modern development practices.

What you do each day
- Design, develop, and test features across our application stack
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand customer problems and translate them into technical solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that delivers customer value
- Participate in code reviews to uphold engineering quality and share knowledge across the team
- Deploy small, incremental improvements to production with confidence and ownership
- Contribute to improvements in CI/CD workflows and automated testing practices
- Identify and reduce friction in local development, debugging, and deployment processes
- Leverage data and metrics to inform implementation decisions and measure feature impact
- Rotate through and deepen expertise across backend, frontend, and mobile technologies
- Drive team efficiency by identifying root causes from CI/CD job logs and resolving flaky tests
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language (i.e. Go, Python, Java, TypeScript, Ruby) with a track record of high-performance delivery
- Comfortable becoming productive in unfamiliar stacks and working as a polyglot engineer
- Hands-on experience reading and debugging CI/CD pipelines (i.e. GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
- Experience with at least one test framework, including investigating and fixing flaky tests
- Familiarity with version control systems (i.e. Git) and cloud environments (i.e. AWS)
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve workflows, streamline execution, or enhance outputs

About the role
As a Software Engineer II, you bring growing technical depth, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to take ownership of features and components across the product. You focus on building scalable, reliable systems, writing well-structured code, and contributing to solutions that deliver real customer value. In this role, you will work independently on projects, collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, and help refine technical direction within your team.

You’ll join a small and senior squad focused on cross-cutting search concerns, working closely with Product Platform teams, IAM, DevOps, and SRE. We value clear ownership, pragmatic engineering, and iterating in small, safe steps. You’ll have room to shape our long-term search strategy while shipping meaningful improvements.
📌 Our primary technology stack at HCP is Ruby. To be effective in this role, you’ll need to learn it. We offer support in the learning process, tailored to your needs and any prior experience with Ruby. As an Architect Software Engineer, you are a senior technical leader who defines and drives the architecture of the platform and product systems that power our business. You operate one level below our Distinguished engineers, partnering with senior leadership to translate business priorities, including enterprise readiness, AI integration, and compliance, into durable architectural decisions and scalable execution. You architect systems that are built with and for AI, treating AI code generation, agentic workflows, and LLM-integrated features as first-class concerns in system design, not afterthoughts.
You work closely with cross-functional teams to establish architecture standards, create scalable and reliable solutions, and ensure that our software aligns with business goals and technology strategy. In your day to day, you will:
- Define and evolve the technical architecture for platform and product systems, ensuring they scale to enterprise requirements and support developer velocity
- Establish and drive adoption of architectural patterns, platform standards, and reusable primitives across engineering
- Design systems that are legible to AI agents (clear contracts, good observability, deterministic boundaries) so AI-generated code can be safely shipped at scale

- 9+ years of experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems
- Deep experience in modern backend frameworks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Django, Spring Boot); we primarily use Ruby/RoR, but welcome strong systems thinkers from other stacks
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (i.e. JavaScript, Python, Go, Java, Node.js)
- Deep expertise with cloud platforms (i.e. AWS), containerization, and serverless/cloud-native architectures

The Manager of Cloud Engineering will serve as a hands on and operational leader responsible for maturing our cloud infrastructure and security posture. This role is central to ensuring the resilience, scalability, and security of the systems that power our business. As a key member of the engineering leadership team, this leader will execute a multi-year vision that aligns platform capabilities with company objectives, ensuring that our infrastructure empowers rapid innovation while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and protection.
This leader will oversee the design, evolution, and day-to-day stewardship of our AWS environments, including compute, networking, storage, container orchestration, and core runtime services. Security is a foundational pillar of this role. The Manager will help the organization maintain compliance with industry standards, reduce risk exposure, and cultivate a culture where secure design and implementation are embedded into every build and deployment. They will establish and scale a DevSecOps practice that integrates automated security controls, continuous vulnerability scanning, secure-by-default workflows, secrets management, and dependency hygiene into the development lifecycle.

- Oversee the architecture, scalability, and operational health of AWS-based infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, and Kubernetes environments.
- Drive continuous improvements in reliability, performance, and fault tolerance through resilience engineering, observability enhancements, and data-driven system tuning.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code practices—primarily Terraform—to support consistent, automated provisioning and configuration.
- Build and mature DevSecOps capabilities, including vulnerability management, secrets management, dependency scanning, and secure configuration baselines.
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams to meet and maintain standards such as SOC2 and other relevant frameworks.

Role Overview
As a Staff iOS Engineer, you are a thought leader within our Platform Team, responsible for the foundational systems that power the HCP iOS experience. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that our mobile infrastructure not only meets but exceeds the highest standards for reliability, performance, and scalability.
You collaborate seamlessly across the engineering organization, acting as a technical lighthouse to create and optimize our iOS application's core. Your goal is to provide our Pros with a world-class mobile application that empowers them to streamline operations. About the role
As an Engineering Manager II on our Platform Organization you will lead two squads that are foundational to how Housecall Pro scales: Search Platform and Identity & Access Management (IAM).
The Search Platform squad owns the infrastructure and tooling that powers search across our product - enabling domain teams to build fast, relevant search experiences. The IAM squad is responsible for building the core identity and access control layer - establishing scalable APIs for authentication and authorization, and enabling new user types and security models as the business grows.
Both squads operate as platform and enablement teams: they build the technical foundations that product and domain teams rely on to ship safely and at pace. You will drive the strategic direction for these areas and create the conditions for your engineers to do their best work.
This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of people leadership, technical depth, and cross-functional influence. You will partner closely with your Director, Staff Engineers, Product, and domain teams to translate business needs into platform capabilities.
Compensation: 9500 - 10200 USD per month
👉*We work in CET, but this role will occasionally require sync meetings with the US team, which may shift your workday to finish later in the afternoon (6:00 PM), as we operate with flexible hours.
What you do Each Day
- Lead and manage two platform engineering squads: Search Platform and IAM
- Drive the technical and strategic direction for search infrastructure (Elasticsearch, observability, developer-facing APIs) and identity & access management (authentication, authorization, RBAC, session management)
- Partner with your Director and Staff Engineers to shape architecture decisions that support scalability, reliability, and a long term platform roadmap
- Enable domain teams to build on top of your platforms effectively - through clear APIs, documentation, training, and hands-on consultation
- Mentor and develop senior and staff-level engineers, fostering a culture of accountability and technical excellence
- Monitor team health, progress, and delivery - removing roadblocks and ensuring your squads maintain momentum on high-impact work
- Manage performance through regular feedback, career development conversations, and performance reviews
- Champion observability, developer experience, and operational excellence across both platform domains
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering
- 4+ years in a people leadership or management role, ideally leading multiple teams or squads
- Hands-on experience applying AI and LLM-based tools to accelerate engineering workflows, code quality, and team productivity
- Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Node.js, React, Ruby)
- Familiarity with search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch), identity and access management patterns, or similar platform domains
- Experience with distributed systems architecture and high-traffic, large-scale applications
- Proven track record of delivering complex software projects on time and within scope
- Experience enabling other teams through APIs, documentation, and developer tooling
- This position requires fluency in both Polish and English
