AI Research Engineers at Hex partner with product teams to build industry-leading AI experiences such as the Notebook Agent. About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help design, maintain, and evolve the core systems used across Hex. This role is centered on backend architecture and shared infrastructure, with responsibility for APIs, realtime communication, data access frameworks, job orchestration, and internal admin tooling.

You’ll work closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs, then turn common patterns into robust, reusable systems. You’ll help define standards, influence architecture, and raise the quality bar across the backend.

About the Role

We’re looking for an Account Executive to join our Mid-Market Sales organization focusing on companies with up to 2,500 employees. We’ve seen incredible success growing our customer base in this category and intend to double down on this success and make Mid-Market accounts central to our growth strategy.

In this role, you’ll be reporting to our Mid-Market Sales Leader. Additionally, you’ll be strategizing and executing on closing new business and expanding our footprint with existing customers.

Security Culture, Enablement & Awareness

• Define and run security awareness training tailored to Hex’s environment.
• Evangelize GRC internally—driving a culture of risk-aware decision-making and operational excellence.
• Document processes, playbooks, and FAQs to make compliance and risk management accessible across the organization.

Program Automation & Tooling

• Evaluate, implement, and administer GRC tools (evidence automation, Trust Center platforms, access review tooling, vendor management systems).
• Build automation into compliance wherever possible—access reviews, evidence collection, user lifecycle processes, vendor workflows, and more.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand Hex’s infrastructure and embed compliance requirements into CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and cloud security controls.

Who you might be

Technical & Compliance Expertise

• 5–8+ years in GRC, compliance, security engineering, privacy, audit, or a related field.
• Deep familiarity with frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR, and associated security controls.
• Experience running or contributing significantly to audit cycles and certification processes.
• Technical literacy in cloud-native environments (AWS preferred), SaaS architectures, and modern security tooling.
• Ability to understand and explain product architecture, data flows, and control implementations to auditors and customers.

Program Building & Ownership

• Experience building or maturing GRC programs at a high-growth company.
• Strong project/program management skills: you can set roadmaps, drive timelines, and deliver on deadlines.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to join Hex’s security team. You will be responsible for ensuring the security and resilience of our cloud infrastructure, providing leadership in cloud security practices, and collaborating closely with our infrastructure and engineering teams to secure our cloud-native applications.

About the role:

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions and controls for AWS environments and Kubernetes clusters, including appropriate isolation/sandboxing methods for Hex’s RCE-as-a-Service platform
• Build, deploy, and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, ensuring robust security standards are enforced.
• Conduct security assessments, threat modeling, and audits on AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes deployments.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed security best practices into CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor and respond to cloud security incidents, identifying root causes and recommending remediation actions.
• Provide expertise in compliance requirements related to cloud security (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
• Mentor engineers and advocate for cloud security across the organization.

About you: 

• 5+ years of experience in cloud security engineering, with extensive expertise in AWS.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Kubernetes security including cluster hardening, role-based access control (RBAC), network policies, and container vulnerability management.
• Expert-level knowledge and hands-on experience with Terraform.
• Familiarity with AWS security services (e.g., IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, WAF).
• Familiarity with CNAPP solutions such as Wiz
• Familiarity with SIEM solutions such as Panther
• Solid understanding of secure software development lifecycle practices, CI/CD security, and DevSecOps methodologies.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), and Terraform Associate certification are highly desirable.
• Bonus points for security certifications from SANS or OffSec.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
