About the role
We are looking for a senior Endocrinology specialist to join our Medical Advisory Board and support the international expansion of our EU online weight loss service.
This is a strategic, advisory role for an experienced clinician with deep expertise in GLP-1 prescribing within the German online weight loss market. You will act as the local Subject Matter Expert, ensuring our clinical protocols, SOPs, and service design align with German regulations, best practice, and patient safety standards.
You will work closely with our Medical Director and Medical Leadership team to shape, review, and future-proof our asynchronous digital prescribing model.
This role is long-term, flexible, and fully remote.
What you'll be doing:
- Review and sign off on all localised clinical protocols and SOPs relating to GLP-1 prescribing and weight loss services.
- Act as the local SME for the German online GLP-1 and weight loss service.
- Provide horizon scanning and market insight to anticipate regulatory, clinical, or best-practice changes.
- Advise on research, innovation, and advances in the medical management of obesity and related indications for GLP-1 therapies.
- Proactively identify gaps or risks within the service, ensuring ongoing compliance and patient safety.
- Support the Medical Director with expert input for strategy, service development, and international expansion.
- Attend ad hoc virtual meetings at mutually agreed times.
- Support sourcing of additional medical advisors where specialist gaps are identified.
- Be listed on the local MedExpress website as a Medical Advisor, including profile photo and bio.
Who you are:
- Specialist in Endocrinology or a closely related specialty with a strong focus on obesity and weight management.
- Extensive experience within the German online weight loss market, specifically GLP-1 prescribing via asynchronous digital consultations.
- Registered specialist with the German Medical Association (Bundesärztekammer), with a valid licence to practice.
- Fluent, professional English and German (written and spoken).
- Strong understanding of digital health, telemedicine models, and protocol-driven prescribing.
- Ideally experienced in designing, reviewing, or overseeing digital prescribing services.
- Ideally an actively practising clinician.
- Commercially aware, detail-oriented, and comfortable advising at a senior level.
Time Commitment
- Minimum 4 hours per month, flexible timing, long-term commitment
- Availability for at least one 30-minute online meeting per month, scheduled at mutually agreed times

About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced and highly organised Senior Pharmacist to lead the setup and launch of our new pharmacy in the Netherlands, which will serve our German customer base initially before we launch our offering to Dutch patients next year. If you care about getting things right, building safe systems, and running a compliant high-volume dispensary, this is a chance to have real influence from day one.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the full licensing and registration process, work closely with IGJ, KNMP and local authorities, and ensure the site is inspection ready. Once licensed, you’ll act as the Responsible Pharmacist (Houder van de Vergunning) and lead a growing team of pharmacists and support staff. You’ll oversee clinical governance, safeguard dispensing quality, and set a strong safety culture across a fast-moving digital pharmacy operation.
This is a non patient facing role focused on clinical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational leadership during setup, launch and ongoing scale.
What you'll be doing:
Regulatory setup and licensing

Lead the process for obtaining all pharmacy and operational licenses (IGJ, KNMP, municipality).

Develop and implement SOPs to meet registration and inspection requirements.

Ensure compliance with the Dutch Medicines Act, GDP, and cross-border mail-order regulations.

Act as the Responsible Pharmacist once licensed.

Liaise with regulators, authorities, and external consultants to maintain inspection readiness.
Clinical leadership and patient safety

Ensure all activity aligns with Dutch, German and EU legislation and internal protocols.

Line manage pharmacists and pharmacy support staff.

Recruit and induct new team members during setup and growth phases.

Who you are:
Experience

BIG-registered pharmacist with KNMP membership.

5+ years post registration pharmacy experience within NL, DE or EU.

Proven experience managing pharmacists or healthcare teams.

Experience in high-volume or community pharmacy.

Strong understanding of the Dutch Medicines Act, IGJ compliance and GDP.

Confident working with prescription and dispensing systems.
Desirable

Experience in online or distance-selling pharmacy.
-
Familiarity with digital systems such as Pharmacom, CGM Apotheek or ERP tools.

Experience with cross-border operations between Netherlands and Germany.

Background in training or mentoring pharmacy staff.
Skills
