Senior Yield Data Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and data-driven individual to optimize and maximize monetization across our publisher partners. As a key member of our Yield team, you will monitor, analyze, and enhance yield performance using complex data sets, producing actionable insights and strategies. We are looking for a curious and proactive Senior Yield Data Analyst who enjoys deep-diving into analysis and technical investigations, and producing creative ideas in a dynamic fast-paced environment.  

Responsibilities:

• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends in complex data sets to maximize publisher yield.
• Extract and analyze bidstream and auction data to surface trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities. Provide recommended changes to enhance bidding dynamics and yield outcomes.
• Develop and maintain analytic monitoring and alerting systems for yield management, ensuring rapid identification and diagnosis of revenue-affecting issues and performance drops.
• Produce data-driven summaries and actionable insights for internal teams and executives, ensuring technical accuracy and clear communication for a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support Yield Managers and Publishers in implementing data-driven best practices and monetization strategies.
• Monitor macro and micro trends, providing proactive alerting on network or site-level issues and tracking key KPIs (ie fill rate, eCPM, revenue, latency, viewability).
• Investigate and respond to technical or operational issues to maximize yield without compromising user experience, site speed, or ad quality.
• Build and maintain AB testing frameworks, reporting, and result interpretation.
• Perform root cause analysis for data or ad-serving problems; provide technical QA for new publisher onboarding, AB tests, product launches, and engineering initiatives.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Freestar data capabilities. Support data integrity projects.
• Project manage yield and data initiatives from planning through successful implementation, ensuring clarity, accountability, and effective communication. Collaborate cross-functionally with Business Intelligence, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Business Development, and Demand.
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging yield opportunities; recommend and pilot innovative monetization solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 3-5 years of experience in ad tech; preferably at a digital publisher or ad management company. Minimum 2 years of experience in an analytical role.
• Deep familiarity with header bidding, Prebid, SSPs, DSPs, ad serving, Google Ad Manager, and major ad tech platforms.
• Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets. Familiarity with working with large complex data sets.
• Experience in SQL and willingness to adopt new data tools as needed.
• Hands-on experience with data visualization and presentation tools to tell compelling stories with data.
• Adept at deriving analytic insights, and presenting findings to external and internal stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex yield strategies and analytical insights to technical and non-technical audiences.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a data-savvy detail-oriented Yield Manager who thrives on solving complex problems and making sense of data. This is a highly analytical role that works closely with cross-functional teams to uncover monetization opportunities, lead investigations into yield performance, identify issues affecting publisher success, and partners with internal teams on strategic initiatives. You will provide both proactive insights on network-level performance and trends while also serving as the escalation resource for publisher-facing teams around yield optimization and strategy. 

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze publisher and network-level performance data to uncover trends, inefficiencies, and revenue growth opportunities.
• Translate complex data into clear actionable insights and produce yield optimization plans for publishers and Customer Success Managers.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues, identifying root causes of revenue fluctuations and guiding teams to solutions.
• Develop and validate hypotheses on monetization strategies; measure and communicate results through concise, data-driven reporting.
• Lead or support macro-level strategic yield initiatives that advance network-wide optimizations and revenue growth.
• Serve as an escalation point for advanced yield inquiries and collaborate on strategic projects that improve publisher performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science, Product, and Engineering teams to continually improve auction mechanics, floor pricing models, ad product development, and ad layout strategies.
• Enhance analytics frameworks and tools by partnering with internal teams, refining dashboards, and creating standard methodologies for performance measurement.
• Support pre-sales and onboarding, using analytical insights to assess revenue potential and design optimal ad layouts.
• Monitor alerts and coordinate with Customer Success, Demand and Support teams to resolve issues before they affect revenue.
• Collaborate cross-functionally on A/B testing to support Yield-related experiments, and provide analyses to quantify lift and inform broader adoption.

Required Skills & Experience

• 1+ years in ad tech, yield optimization, programmatic operations, or data analytics; preferably at a digital publisher or ad management company.
• Experience working with Looker or other BI visual reporting tools.
• Strong command of Google Ad Manager (GAM), Google Analytics, Prebid, and header bidding environments.
• Prior experience in publisher monetization, yield management, or revenue optimization.
• Ability to analyze auction metrics (eCPM, RPM, RPS, fill rate, latency) and turn insights into measurable actions.
• Working knowledge of site performance tools (e.g., Chrome Console, Professor Prebid, Google Lighthouse, WebPageTest) and understanding of user experience tradeoffs in monetization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to translate technical or statistical findings into clear business insights.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL and comfort working with large complex datasets.
• Understanding of machine learning or statistical modeling approaches.
• Exposure to programmatic performance analysis, demand-side bidding methodologies, and AB testing frameworks.
