Role overview
This role is a senior leadership position responsible for managing a substantial portfolio of premium consumer brands. You’ll provide strategic oversight, client leadership, and team management to deliver comprehensive brand campaigns across media relations, influencer partnerships, social media, and experiential events. Day-to-day (and hour-to-hour) responsibilities may span from crafting customized web and social metrics reports, assisting in the management and creation of paid and organic social campaigns, helping to run sponsored content and influencer programs, content strategy and ideation, navigating content management systems and emerging social platforms, conducting social media research and ongoing monitoring, providing background research on client-specific issues, identifying influencers, drafting content on behalf of clients, exploring and implementing AI tools to streamline our work and enhance creative output, identifying best practices and guardrails for responsible AI usage in communications, staying current on emerging AI applications in the digital marketing landscape, etc. Online communication is constantly evolving – therefore so is our work!
NOTE: This internship offers a hybrid work experience (remote and in-office). The position is available to applicants local to the FleishmanHillard Washington, D.C. office or applicants willing to relocate as necessary.
Candidates must be a college junior, senior or a recent college graduate and hard working with at least a 3.0 GPA. The candidates must also display an eagerness to expand their skills in social-focused communications, marketing, advertising and project management and be available to work full time Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m ET.
The ideal candidate for this position must be social media savvy, extremely comfortable analyzing and interpreting data, has experience pivoting between multiple projects, able to navigate data analytics and is highly detail oriented. The ideal candidate is genuinely curious about artificial intelligence, eager to learn how to effectively use AI tools to solve marketing challenges, and thoughtful about understanding both the capabilities and limitations of AI in communications work. Specifically, the candidate should also have some experience in the following areas:
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.).
• Experience or interest with paid social media tools such as Meta Ad Manager, X Ads Manager and LinkedIn Ads Manager.
• Familiarity with social listening and analysis to inform social media strategy and/or content creation.
• Proficient or interested in analyzing and interpreting high volumes of data. High degree of proficiency with Excel is preferred.
• Ability to write clear and concise presentations for client summarizing data insights, outcomes and implications in a straightforward and enlightening way for clients.
• Ability to draft short-form and long-form content for social platforms (including copy for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc.).
• Foundational knowledge of AI tools and applications (such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) and a willingness to explore how AI can improve workflow efficiency and creative processes.
• Experience with or interest in web development, SEO and/or GEO

Responsibilities:
• Play a pivotal role in handling many of the day-to-day activities for the health and life science practice’s account teams, including working with senior members of the team to help oversee projects, connecting across our healthcare and agency teams, and provide client counsel.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3+ years' experience. Biotech, pharmaceutical or healthcare communications experience within a communications agency is required.
• A thirst for knowledge, interest and desire to work in the ever-changing world of healthcare and communications.
• Skilled at applied strategic thinking; anticipating issues, trends, and connections, and translating those insights into actionable ideas for the client and our healthcare team.
• A collaborative team member and team leader, with strong project management and problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to communicate clinical data and information into lay language that resonates across client stakeholders.
• Keen understanding of the role of digital media in integrated communications strategies as well as traditional, digital and social media healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:
• Play a pivotal role in handling many of the day-to-day activities for the H&LS practice’s account teams, including working with senior members of the team to help oversee projects, connecting across our healthcare and agency teams, and provide client counsel.
• Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team; coordinate team resources and create opportunities for junior staff to take on more responsibility; fully utilize agency resources to create the "best teams" for your clients.
• Demonstrate ability to develop and provide feedback on high-quality written materials, including strategic plans, press materials, social copy, client correspondence, etc.
• Drive strategic plans and communications campaigns across key stakeholders that are aligned with client business objectives and deliver results.
• Develop relationships and coordinate correspondence with external audiences: third-party organizations, healthcare professionals, media, etc.
• Develop and monitor client program plans and budgets for profitability; report status to client and agency management on a regular basis.
• Explore and create opportunities for incremental business growth within your clients’ organizations
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 6+ years of biotech, pharmaceutical or healthcare communications experience within a communications agency is required.
• A thirst for knowledge, interest and desire to work in the ever-changing world of healthcare and communications.
• Skilled at applied strategic thinking, anticipating issues, trends, and connections, and translating those insights into actionable ideas for the client and our healthcare team.
• A collaborative team member and team leader, with strong project management and problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to translate large amounts of clinical data and information into lay language that resonates across client stakeholders.
• Keen understanding of the role of digital media in integrated communications strategies as well as traditional, digital and social media healthcare environment.
• Ability to develop and contribute to strategic outreach plans to external audiences via social platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.), third-party organizations, healthcare professionals, media, etc.
• Ability to effectively supervise and train junior-level account staff, provide quality control, determine workflow and assignments.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to develop and strategically direct the creation of press materials and communications plans.
• Demonstrated strategic media relations planning, with the ability to develop strong media pitch angles, lead pitch teams and pitch story ideas to reporters.

The anticipated U.S. salary range for the Account Supervisor level is $61,000-$94,000.
