Leveraging our growing security product suite, SOC Analyst role contributes real world security insights to Fastly and our customers as we address Internet-scale threats. Cloud security solutions enable our customers to benefit from extra visibility across the world and expertise from a central team.
The Fastly Customer Security Operations Center team at Fastly focuses on operational support of Fastly’s security products and services. The SOC Analyst role within this team focuses on delivering outstanding security services to our customers, specifically as it pertains to integrating and supporting agent software installed on customer systems. The team works with the security, operations and customer organizations internally to deliver support solutions for security threats faced on the Internet today.
As a 24 x 7 team, SOC analysts are expected to work either Tuesday through Saturday, Sunday through Thursday, or Monday through Friday shifts.
This role within the Fastly Customer Security Operations Center (CSOC) will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing customer activity, with added emphasis on security functions, like identifying account-takeover or Bot Attacks and WAF administration. Much of the focus will be on security and attacks around the application layer working with different web technologies. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most scalable distributed systems that handle around 10 million requests per second, as well as the world-class engineers who developed these systems.
In this position, security engineers will be responsible for the following duties:
Be an expert in ensuring security for customers, providing an outstanding response to security issues.
Provide deep application-security experience on escalated cases from customers & automated systems.
Carry out continuous-improvement work & research to drive our customer security products & operations to be the best they can be.
Contribute to the processes and policies that scale our organization as we grow
Create & review reporting to customers on security services
Create & manage security content for customer environments
Prior Experience working in a SOC Environment
Experience with some or all the following foundational technologies: SaaS/Cloud or hybrid cloud deployments; Apache/NGINX/IIS or other web server platforms and associated Application server technologies and frameworks
Scripting ability with any of the following: Python, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, Unix/Linux Shell, C#, or other common Web languages
Strong infosec background with strong knowledge & practical skills in Application Security.
Experience in an IT or security technical support, operations, or research role
Unix/Linux or Windows System Administration
Ability to work with limited supervision but be a good mentor on security knowledge to the greater team
Fluent spoken & written English required, tailoring depth to be a good fit for varying audiences
Ability and experience in troubleshooting software products
Focussed on delivering exceptional customer experiences.

CSOC Analyst
SOC Analyst - North America
Fastly is seeking a SOC Analyst to join our dedicated Customer Security Operations Centre. In this role, you will be a frontline defender for Fastly’s global enterprise customers. You will leverage our edge cloud platform and an array of security products in monitoring traffic, detect sophisticated anomalies, and deploy real-time mitigations against DDoS, Bot, and Web Application attacks.
This is a high-impact role where you act as a strategic partner for our Managed Security Service (MSS) clients, providing the expert visibility and rapid response necessary to address internet-scale threats.
What You'll Do:
Active Incident Response: Lead the identification and mitigation of high-impact security events. You will analyze sophisticated traffic patterns and implement precise countermeasures, including rate limiting and custom WAF & Security rules to neutralize threats in real-time.
Managed Security Delivery: Serve as a primary security consultant for MSS Customers. This involves continuous tuning and refining of security policies to optimize detection accuracy and maintaining a hardened security posture tailored to each client's unique environment.
Advanced Threat Hunting: Conduct data-driven investigations using log analysis to uncover potential threats and hardenings opportunities
Security Intelligence & Reporting: Author comprehensive After Action Reports (AARs) and monthly security summaries. You will translate complex telemetry and attack data into high-level actionable insights for customer stakeholders.
Strategic Communication: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) during active security incidents. You will provide clear, calm, and professional guidance via real-time communication channels, ensuring customers are informed and confident in our defensive strategy.
What We're Looking For:
Web Security Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and advanced attack vectors (e.g., Credential Stuffing, API Abuse, and Layer 7 DDoS). You can interpret raw payloads to distinguish between malicious intent and legitimate traffic.
Protocol Proficiency: Deep technical knowledge of the internet stack, specifically HTTP/S, TCP/IP, DNS, and TLS. You should be comfortable analyzing handshake processes, header structures, and status codes.
Analytical Rigor: A methodical approach to digital forensics and incident response. You possess the ability to correlate disparate data points within JSON or CSV logs to reconstruct an attack narrative.
Communication Excellence: The ability to distill complex technical findings into concise, professional, and empathetic communications for both technical and non-technical audiences.
We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
Proficiency in Python or Bash for log parsing and workflow automation.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code/Security as Code(SaC) (Terraform) or edge-based configurations.
Industry-standard certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, GCIH, or Security+.

Fastly is seeking a Threat Detection Engineer to join our Customer Security Operations Centre (CSOC) to bridge the gap between reactive monitoring and proactive defense. In this specialized role, you will move beyond standard incident response to focus on advanced threat hunting, behavioral analysis, and the engineering of sophisticated detection logic. You will serve as a critical resource for our highest-profile enterprise customers, identifying complex vulnerabilities before they are exploited and building the custom mitigations necessary to stop internet-scale, automated attacks.
Proactive Threat Hunting: Execute a “shift-left” security strategy by identifying weaknesses and emerging threat patterns through deep-dive data analysis before they escalate into active incidents.
Sophisticated Mitigation Strategy: Using the data from the threat hunting to develop and deploy advanced defensive measures to help customers mitigate complex and advanced threats before they become an issue.
Advanced Detection Engineering: Design and implement high-logic countermeasures, including custom VCL (Varnish Configuration Language) for uniqueness tracking, and complex behavioral fingerprinting.
Cross-Functional Data Investigation: Work alongside other teams within Fastly to conduct forensic-level analysis on disparate and external datasets to reconstruct sophisticated attack narratives, such as Account Takeover (ATO) attempts involving advanced spoofing and IP rotation.
High-Impact Incident SME: Act as the primary technical authority during large-scale security events, providing dedicated, multi-hour analysis and custom rule-building for specific customers during emergencies.

Leveraging our growing security product suite, CSOC Engineers contribute real world security insights to Fastly and our customers as we address Internet-scale threats. CSOC Engineers function as the primary escalation point for SOC Analysts in a globally distributed team. A core responsibility and key performance metric for this role is the effective training and mentoring of our SOC analysts, reducing escalations to the Senior CSOC-engineering level so you can focus on process improvements, data analysis, and security tooling to continue advancing our products, services, and capabilities.
The CSOC team works with our internal platform security and security research, engineering and development teams as well operations and customer organisations internally to deliver support solutions for security threats faced on the Internet today.
You will be responsible for escalations around monitoring and analysing customer activity, like identifying layer 3/4 DDoS attacks, account-takeover, bot attacks and other malicious web traffic. In addition, as part of CSOC engineering, you will be involved in designing, building and supporting tooling for our analysts. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most scalable distributed systems,, as well as working with the world-class engineers who developed these systems.

Cloud security solutions enable our customers to benefit from extra visibility across the world and expertise from a central team.
The Fastly Customer Security Operations Center team at Fastly focuses on operational support of Fastly’s security products and services. The SOC Analyst role within this team focuses on delivering outstanding security services to our customers, specifically as it pertains to integrating and supporting agent software installed on customer systems. The team works with the security, operations and customer organizations internally to deliver support solutions for security threats faced on the Internet today.
As a 24 x 7 team, SOC analysts are expected to work either Tuesday through Saturday, Sunday through Thursday, or Monday through Friday shifts.
This role within the Fastly Customer Security Operations Center (CSOC) will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing customer activity, with added emphasis on security functions, like identifying account-takeover or Bot Attacks and WAF administration. Much of the focus will be on security and attacks around the application layer working with different web technologies. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the world’s most scalable distributed systems that handle around 10 million requests per second, as well as the world-class engineers who developed these systems.
In this position, security engineers will be responsible for the following duties:
Be an expert in ensuring security for customers, providing an outstanding response to security issues.
Provide deep application-security experience on escalated cases from customers & automated systems.
Carry out continuous-improvement work & research to drive our customer security products & operations to be the best they can be.
Contribute to the processes and policies that scale our organization as we grow
Create & review reporting to customers on security services
Create & manage security content for customer environments
Prior Experience working in a SOC Environment
Experience with some or all the following foundational technologies: SaaS/Cloud or hybrid cloud deployments; Apache/NGINX/IIS or other web server platforms and associated Application server technologies and frameworks
Scripting ability with any of the following: Python, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, Unix/Linux Shell, C#, or other common Web languages
Strong infosec background with strong knowledge & practical skills in Application Security.
Experience in an IT or security technical support, operations, or research role
Unix/Linux or Windows System Administration
Ability to work with limited supervision but be a good mentor on security knowledge to the greater team
Fluent spoken & written English required, tailoring depth to be a good fit for varying audiences
Ability and experience in troubleshooting software products
Focussed on delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Fastly is seeking a Security Automation Engineer for our Customer Security Operations Center (CSOC) team, where you'll help design, operate, and evolve the internal security platform and tools that enable our Security Analysts to keep our customers safe.
Day to day, you'll work across the entire stack of our bespoke SIEM and SOAR platform - designing systems, writing production-grade code, and shipping features that have a direct impact on how we protect our customers. You'll work closely with our Security Analysts to deeply understand their challenges, then develop automated security workflows that solve those problems, ensuring the right information is presented at the right time. You'll spot inefficiencies in how we detect and respond to security incidents, and build the tools to eliminate them.
At least 3 years building and shipping software in a production environment
Solid proficiency in Python, JavaScript and/or Golang.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud providers (we use GCP)
You know when to build a complex system and when a simple solution is the right call. You care about testing, code quality and monitoring your applications.
You can explain technical trade-offs clearly and collaborate effectively with a distributed team across time zones.
