The SFM legal and compliance team is a seasoned group of attorneys, compliance officers, paralegals and administrative support professionals. Our goal is to provide timely, business-oriented legal solutions that advance SFM’s business objectives, while protecting its legal and financial interests and reputation. We support all aspects of SFM’s business including providing advice and counsel to senior management, negotiating complex investment transactions, drafting and reviewing contracts, managing disputes and litigation, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Job Overview: 

SFM is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Paralegal to join its Legal and Compliance team in New York City. The Paralegal will work closely with SFM attorneys, the firm’s Compliance professionals, and other investment and non-investment personnel to support a wide range of legal, regulatory, and administrative matters.  The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position is well-suited for an individual who enjoys taking initiative, demonstrates sound judgment, and is eager to contribute to the legal and compliance functions of a sophisticated investment firm.

Reports To: Assistant General Counsel

Major Responsibilities:

• Partner with internal and external attorneys to assist in negotiating and closing transactions.
• Receive, review and analyze non-disclosure agreements and other vendor and non- vendor contracts.
• Prepare and manage account opening documentation and review and Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) materials.
• Partner with the firm’s Compliance team to support the firm’s compliance and regulatory practices.
• Support internal counsel in managing the corporate action and class action litigation workstreams
• Manage the organization, storage, and dissemination of legal documents and other departmental records.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of SFM office infrastructure and administrative processes
• Provide direct support to SFM attorneys on a range of legal, transactional, and operational matters, as needed.

We anticipate the base salary of this role to be between $120,000- $150,000. In addition to a base salary, the successful candidate will also be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.

Job Overview:

SFM is seeking a highly organized and proactive professional to join the Legal and Compliance Department as an Executive Assistant and Operations Coordinator. This individual will provide day-to-day support to the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer (GC/CCO) and the broader legal and compliance team.  The ideal candidate will blend strong executive assistant skills with the ability to coordinate departmental operations, manage projects, and improve processes. This role requires professionalism, discretion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.

Major Responsibilities:

• Executive Support
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the GC/CCO, Deputy CCO, and Assistant General Counsels
  • Manage complex calendars, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, and expense reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute materials, including meeting agendas, summaries, and presentations.
  • Anticipate needs and help the GC/CCO, Deputy CCO, and assistant general counsels prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Department Coordination and Operations
  • Serve as a key point of contact and coordinator for the Legal and Compliance Department; serve as liaison to other departments to coordinate cross functional initiatives
  • Manage the department’s invoice processing and vendor coordination
  • Coordinate department-wide logistics, such as team meetings, training sessions, and communications
  • Maintain organized department records, templates, and databases to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Project Management and Process Improvement
  • Track ongoing projects, deadlines, and deliverables for the Legal and Compliance team.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or automate administrative and legal processes.
  • Partner with Technology and Finance to identify, develop, and implement tools and workflows that improve efficiency and consistency.
• Legal and Compliance Administration
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining corporate and regulatory documents, filings, and policy updates.
  • Support monitoring and reporting processes related to compliance requirements.

What We Value:

• 3-5+ years of experience in a Legal, Compliance, or Executive Assistant role within a financial institution, law firm, or similar fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, etc).
• High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
• Proactive, adaptable, and resourceful; able to anticipate needs and take initiative.
• Comfortable working independently as well as in a collaborative environment
