Our Quality Engineering team is at the center of how we ship software with speed and confidence. We're a small, highly focused group of engineers on a mission to raise the bar for quality across the entire engineering organization — not by slowing things down, but by embedding smart, scalable practices that make fast delivery more reliable. From CI/CD infrastructure to automated testing frameworks, we build the systems and standards that the rest of engineering depends on to move quickly without breaking things.

We're investing in modernizing our pipelines, expanding our automation coverage, and evolving our culture around quality ownership. The person in this role will shape what that evolution looks like by setting the technical direction, mentoring a growing team, and acting as the connective tissue between Quality Engineering and the broader product and engineering organization.

What your impact will be

In your first year, you will:

• Own our CI/CD systems end-to-end: audit the current state, redesign where needed, and drive measurable improvements in pipeline reliability, build/test cycle time, and overall developer experience within the first six months
• Lead the adoption of standardized QE practices and testing frameworks across engineering teams, reducing inconsistency in coverage and establishing a shared standard for quality across the organization within your first year
• Drive increased automation of QE processes using AI-assisted tooling (such as Claude, Codex, or Cursor), accelerating development velocity while maintaining rigorous standards
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 1–3 Quality Engineers:  supporting their technical development, career growth, and day-to-day effectiveness, with a goal of visibly improving team velocity and reducing defect escape rates
• Partner closely with Engineering and Product to shift quality earlier in the development lifecycle, building a culture where defect prevention is prioritized over defect detection
• Establish structured knowledge sharing and process documentation that enables the team to scale its impact beyond its headcount

What we look for in this role

• Proven track record owning and operating CI/CD systems at scale using tools such as CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent. This includes hands-on experience redesigning pipelines for reliability and speed
• Deep expertise in CI/CD tooling and infrastructure, with the ability to independently evaluate, modernize, and scale systems to meet evolving engineering needs
• Strong proficiency in test automation frameworks (such as Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent) paired with a clear, defensible philosophy around test strategy and coverage.
• Solid background in Quality Engineering or Software Development in Test (SDET), including experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks from the ground up
• Demonstrated use of AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Codex, Cursor) to automate testing practices and accelerate engineering workflows.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills; you are equally comfortable working as an individual contributor and stepping into a leadership role as the quality voice across the engineering
• Prior experience leading or mentoring a small engineering team, even informally

What we are building

The Automation Team at Domino acts as a force multiplier for engineering, building the tools and systems that enable teams to ship code confidently and consistently. A core part of this mission is Tempest, an in-house platform that orchestrates realistic, long-duration workloads against live Kubernetes clusters and validates the results against real observability data. Today, when scale testing surfaces a bottleneck, a resource misconfiguration, or a regression in system behavior, the team can identify and report the issue — but we need someone who can take the next step: profiling services, tracing root causes through Prometheus and New Relic data, and partnering with platform engineers to drive durable fixes. Focused on iteration and continuous improvement, the team looks for targeted enhancements that create outsized impact, and this role will close the gap between detection and resolution at the infrastructure level.

What your impact will be

In your first year, you will:

• Serve as the technical owner of Tempest, Domino's scale and reliability platform, ensuring it remains reliable, extensible, and aligned with evolving infrastructure needs
• Diagnose and drive resolution of performance bottlenecks and resource misconfigurations surfaced by scale testing — working directly with platform and infrastructure teams to ship fixes, not just file tickets
• Deliver accurate, data-driven sizing recommendations for customer-facing documentation based on rigorous empirical testing across deployment sizes
• Strengthen observability across scale testing by improving Prometheus and New Relic instrumentation, making it faster to pinpoint root causes during and after multi-day load runs
• Establish and operationalize scale testing on cloud platforms, ensuring appropriate sizing and configuration guidance for this increasingly divergent product line
• Partner with platform teams to enable effective scale and reliability testing across additional cloud providers, helping position Domino for future multi-cloud success
• Increase the efficiency and leverage of a small team by building infrastructure automation that scales operationally as the product and customer base grow

What we look for in this role

• Background in SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure with hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting distributed systems in production Kubernetes environments
• Strong proficiency in Python and comfort working in a large, modular codebase that spans orchestration, infrastructure automation, and systems integration
• Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, or similar) — writing queries, building dashboards, and using metrics to diagnose performance and reliability issues at the systems level
• Demonstrated ability to go beyond detection to resolution: profiling services, identifying resource bottlenecks, and working with engineering teams to ship durable fixes
• Familiarity with performance and load testing methodologies (e.g., Locust, k6, or similar) as part of a broader infrastructure or reliability practice
• Clear ownership mindset — self-directed, accountable, and able to communicate priorities and status effectively in a remote, async environment

The Model Development Lifecycle Team is building a cutting-edge platform to simplify the entire machine learning journey. From development and training to deployment and management, we empower teams to turn data into actionable insights. Our platform supports:

• Seamless API Integration: Deploy models as APIs for consistent use across applications, whether on-premises, in enterprise infrastructures, or through third-party hosting.
• Collaboration and Discoverability: Use our model registry to version, store, and easily find models across the organization.
• Scalable Training Resources: Leverage advanced tools like GPUs, Ray, and Spark to meet the needs of diverse AI projects.

By supporting organizations in developing, registering, and scaling AI models, we enable impactful insights and innovation across the enterprise.

What your impact will be

In your first year, you will:

• Integrate model monitoring to provide a holistic view of deployment health and performance
• Enhance tagging capabilities across Domino entities to improve discoverability and tracking
• Expand LLM hosting capabilities to address customer needs for scale, performance, and logging
• Innovate within our Domino Apps offering by incorporating feature requests from major customers

What we look for in this role

• Building Scalable Systems: Hands-on experience developing and managing high-performance back-end systems in distributed computing environments
• Collaboration Across Teams: Working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate systems with front-end interfaces and third-party services
• API Development: Designing and implementing secure, scalable APIs (e.g., RESTful APIs, gRPC)
• Performance Optimization: Profiling and optimizing back-end performance, especially in cloud environments or with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Testing and CI/CD: Using robust testing frameworks (unit, integration, end-to-end) and setting up CI/CD pipelines
• ML Model Deployment: Familiarity with model registries, versioning, and lifecycle management tools like MLflow or KubeFlow is a big plus
• Distributed Computing: Experience with frameworks like Apache Spark, Azure ML, or SageMaker is a plus
• Cloud Platforms: Proficiency with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deploying services in these environments

What we are building

The Governance team at Domino is aimed at making Domino become the leading platform that enables enterprises to govern their AI projects effectively and efficiently. This is meant to  support innovation cycles for our customers, while allowing them to build models and outputs responsibly and safely.

The Data Product team at Domino is responsible for developing the integrations with services, systems and sources that data scientists rely on for their model development and analytics work. Our mission is to make access to data seamless and comprehensive such that data scientists can incorporate data into their workflows without worrying about how. We take satisfaction in making sure that data scientists can derive insights and produce predictions knowing that they have the full availability of data without worrying about engineering complexity.

The two teams have been working interchangeably and smoothly to fulfill their respective missions.

What your impact will be

In your first year, you will:

• Design and develop software solutions that improve Domino’s user experience with regards to the new, highly-sought Governance feature
• Extend and contribute enhancements to the open-source software powering Domino
• Create technical designs and clearly communicate them to cross-functional stakeholders
• Enable fellow engineers to achieve high quality through design and code reviews
• Work with product managers to ensure solutions are well planned and delivered on-time

What we look for in this role

• 5+ years of experience in backend development, especially in distributed computing with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka
• Experience in API design and development, e.g. RESTful APIs, GraphQL and similar, with a focus on integrating backend and front-end systems
• Strong proficiency in Java, Scala, Go, or Python, dedicated to building high-performance backend solutions
• Skilled in enhancing backend performance in cloud environments, well-versed in Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience building production grade software, preferably in Scala or Go.
• Comfortable in dynamic, fast-paced settings, possessing strong problem-solving skills and a comprehensive understanding of system design and architecture
• Strong familiarity with service-oriented architecture (SOA), adept at designing and developing modular, maintainable services for seamless system integration
• Ability to work independently and be a reliable teammate
