Purpose
Join a cutting-edge team at Divergent focused on revolutionizing the manufacturing process through advanced 3D metal printing technology. This role is integral to the development of high-performance machine control systems that drive our next-generation digital manufacturing platform.
The Role
- Design and implement real-time machine control software for our proprietary 3D metal printing systems.
- Develop and maintain the graphical user interface (GUI) for operator interaction with 3D printers.
- Build and optimize software simulations of 3D printer operations for design validation and performance analysis.
- Create calibration algorithms and automated maintenance procedures to ensure high system reliability and print quality.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to integrate software with complex mechatronic systems.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
- Proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or later), including multithreaded application development
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Familiarity with build systems and configuration tools (e.g., CMake)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GUI development using Qt
- Familiarity with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV
- Working knowledge of Python for scripting and automation
- Background in industrial control systems or control theory
- Understanding of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and real-time systems
- Prior experience with hardware/software integration in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, or Simscape for modeling and simulation
- Exposure to continuous integration tools and workflows, especially using GitHub CI
Work Environment
- This position is 100% onsite to support close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and direct access to state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.
Compensation
At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels E05 - E06 as evaluated through our interview process.
- E05 / Senior: $141,380 - 194,390
- E06 / Staff: $163,270 - $224,500

Purpose
The purpose of this role is to design and develop manufacturing equipment utilized by the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS™). You would own the mechanical design and development of full systems and components for a laser powder bed fusion machine, ensuring they meet cost, reliability, performance, and schedule targets. To be successful in this role, you will partner closely with software, process, optics, and controls teammates to develop a complex, industrialized production machine/system.
The Role
- Conceptual through detailed design of various subsystems for advanced manufacturing systems.
- Associated structural, thermal and dynamic analysis / simulation.
- Integration of various electrical, controls, optical and fluids components as required.
- Collaborate with external design and manufacturing partners as required, ensuring high quality and schedule adherence to project milestones.
- Hands on development, fabrication, assembly, integration and test of systems.
- Troubleshooting of complex systems.
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls.
- 5+ years detailed design of complex mechanical systems.
- Experience with motion system or automation design.
- Extensive drafting and GD&T experience.
- Experience with hands on assembly and testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience with capital equipment design and production.
- Knowledgeable of laser powder-bed fusion or similar systems.
- FEA, Thermal, or other analysis skills.

Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the development of the machine control systems that power our next-generation manufacturing platform. This is a high-impact role where your technical experience will directly influence system performance, reliability, and the future direction of our software stack.
The Role
- Lead the architecture and development of real-time machine control systems for advanced 3D metal printing platforms
- Own and evolve the software stack for machine orchestration, including motion control, system coordination, and performance optimization
- Design and drive development of scalable, high-performance GUIs for operator control and system observability
- Architect and build high-fidelity simulation frameworks for system validation, predictive modeling, and performance tuning
- Define and implement calibration strategies, diagnostics, and automated maintenance systems to ensure precision and uptime at scale
- Partner cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering leaders to drive full-stack mechatronic integration
- Set technical direction, coding standards, and best practices for real-time and systems-level software development
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across projects, influencing design decisions and long-term architecture
- Drive initiatives that improve system robustness, scalability, and developer productivity
Basic Qualifications
- Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls
- Expert-level proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or later), including multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization
- Proven experience building complex, real-time or distributed systems
- Strong experience with Git-based workflows and modern build systems (e.g., CMake)
- Demonstrated ability to own systems end-to-end, from design through deployment and iteration
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep experience with real-time systems, control systems, or robotics software
- Strong background in industrial automation, motion control, or mechatronics integration
- Experience developing GUIs with Qt or similar frameworks
- Familiarity with computer vision (e.g., OpenCV) and sensor integration
- Proficiency in Python for automation, tooling, or rapid prototyping
- Working knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
- Experience with modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and scalable development workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Track record of technical leadership, mentorship, and influencing engineering direction
