Overview
As a New Product Development Engineer at Copper, you’ll contribute to creating the next generation of home appliances for an electrified future — supporting products from early concepts through production-ready designs. You’ll help develop mechanical systems and components, translating ideas into manufacturable, reliable hardware that can ship into real homes.
This role spans the full product development cycle: concept exploration, engineering development, prototyping, validation, and production readiness. You’ll contribute to generating and evaluating design concepts, then help drive selected designs through detailed design, testing, supplier engagement, and manufacturing scale-up.
You’ll work closely with electrical, firmware, industrial design, operations, and supply chain teams to bring new products from idea to production. As part of a growing hardware team, you’ll play a meaningful role in both what we build and how we build it, while continuing to develop your technical depth and product development skills.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $105,000 - $125,000. We are committed to equitable compensation, and we offer a generous benefits package to make sure you have the support you need. We cover 100% of the premiums for our employees and 50% of the premiums for their dependents on our base plans for medical, dental, and vision insurance. We offer a 401(k) plan for employees to contribute to, in addition to many other benefits. Every employee, regardless of gender identity or expression, is eligible for 16 weeks of paid parental leave after three months of employment (eight weeks through Channing Copper and eight weeks CA Paid Family Leave).

Overview
At Copper, we’re reinventing home appliances for an electrified future. Our flagship Charlie stove pairs high-performance induction with integrated energy storage to make the switch from fossil fuels a no-brainer. We’re a small, fast, collaborative team that ships, learns, and iterates quickly.
As a Software Engineer, you’ll help build and scale the software systems that connect our appliances, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing applications. You’ll work across cloud services, data pipelines, mobile and web applications, and the interfaces that tie our software to real hardware in people’s homes.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role with end-to-end ownership. You’ll partner closely with a small, cross-functional team, while shipping mission-critical features that support customers, manufacturing, operations, and Copper’s broader climate mission. We’re looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, drives clarity across boundaries, and can scale both systems and engineering practices as the company grows. .

Overview
As a Staff Embedded Systems Engineer at Copper, you’ll help build the firmware that powers our energy-storage-enabled appliances. You’ll work across device firmware, connectivity, and cloud data flow to create reliable systems that operate in real homes every day.
You’ll take ownership of core embedded architecture, including device communication, fleet management, and scalability. You’ll also have opportunities to lead projects spanning appliance performance, battery management, power electronics integration, UI/graphics, and new product development.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You’ll work closely with a small, cross-functional team and take on ambiguous problems, turning rough ideas into shippable, testable systems. As a senior technical leader, you’ll help shape how we build firmware at Copper, raise the technical bar, and mentor other engineers as the team grows.
