A day in the life

• Develop media plans and recommendations for a range of assigned clients by translating their strategic visions into media objectives to accomplish a wide range of client objectives including direct response (lead gen and fundraising), awareness, persuasion, and advocacy.
• Analyze ongoing and historical performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, make strategic recommendations, and generate reporting and insights to drive optimization.
• Have a strong POV on measurement, attribution, and conversion tracking, and apply that knowledge to strategic recommendations and ongoing campaign management.
• Participate in (and frequently lead) client-facing interactions to deliver media strategies and provide clients with the context to understand how your tactical media plans will achieve their business objectives
• Work collaboratively with other internal or external teams, including media planners, strategists, account directors, designers, and analysts, to produce campaigns, creative ideas, audience and target recommendations, and experimental designs.
• Keep us up to date with the latest digital media trends by maintaining relationships with media partners and engaging in media R&D projects

• 6-8 years experience in cross-channel media planning, including a mix of digital and traditional media
• Demonstrated experience translating client business goals into cohesive media strategies and specific KPIs, and a record of managing large scale, multi-channel media campaigns that delivered on those goals.
• Deep understanding of all aspects of media strategy, planning, campaign management, and analysis reporting, and the tools and platforms used

Experience in mass marketing with fundraising, advocacy, or ecommerce preferred. Experience with digital martech is a plus!

• You are an expert in SQL, and feel comfortable managing, optimizing, and troubleshooting in a data warehouse environment, such as BigQuery or Snowflake. Manage the sales process for proposal development, pitches, and outbound efforts:

The team

As part of the Media team, you’ll work closely with a cross-disciplinary group of Blue State employees on various projects. Some things we're looking for

• 8+ years experience in a hands-on paid media planning and buying role using a mix of digital channels (Social, Search, Display, Video, Audio, etc). Experience running campaigns and taking ownership of media clients with £1M+ annual spend.
• Demonstrated experience translating client business goals into cohesive media strategies and specific KPIs, and a record executing campaigns that delivered on those goals.
• Experience working with non-profits, with fundraising and/or income objectives within paid media campaigns. 
• Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects on time, within budget, and meet performance goals. Demonstrated experience helping others in the team hit goals through mentorship and support.
• High proficiency with digital advertising platforms — you’ve demonstrated a level of mastery of paid social, paid search, and/or programmatic trading — as well as Google Analytics and other measurement platforms.
• Exceptional attention to detail, especially with regards to campaign setup and trafficking, QA, and reporting.
• Ability to adapt to new situations, solve problems on the fly, and communicate with those around you. Experience pitching work in an agency environment is desirable, but not essential.
• A shared passion and curiosity for delivering change. This includes comfort with ambiguity, a restlessness that resists the status quo, and a commitment to quality that ensures we’re always making progress.

A day in the life

• Build websites and landing pages for our clients, writing quality code based on requirements and design comps, with attention to maintainability, scalability, performance, and accessibility.
• Troubleshoot issues on existing platforms, looking at front-end code and software configuration.
• Be our in-house point person for projects that are staffed primarily by vendors or client development teams. Conduct code review and document technical decisions as needed.
• Work with members of our product, design, analytics, content, and account teams to align on requirements and process.
• Communicate with project managers and stakeholders throughout the course of a project.

The team 

The Tech Team consists of product managers, developers, tech leads, and martech specialists. We’re veterans of presidential campaigns, agencies, nonprofits, and the tech world who want our work to matter, are passionate about technology, and aim to continually improve the work we do. We collaborate very closely remotely and, optionally, from our offices in New York, DC, and London.

Some things we're looking for

• At least 3 years of experience building web pages using HTML, CSS, and modern web standards.
• WordPress development experience. Being able to build a WordPress theme and edit PHP is a requirement, while experience using Advanced Custom Fields and Timber and building Gutenberg components using React are all pluses.
• Front-end JavaScript experience. Neither Experience with UI frameworks such as React and Next.js, nor expertise in Node.js, are required, but either is a plus.
• Familiarity with CRM, CDP, or marketing  platforms, such as SFMC, Engaging Networks, ActionKit, Action Network, or EveryAction/NGP, or a readiness to learn.
• Familiarity with fundraising platforms such as FundraiseUp, Classy, or Blackbaud, or a readiness to learn.
• Familiarity with optimization and personalization platforms such as Optimizely.
• Familiarity with Git and modern deployment and build tools and practices (i.e. devops).
• Appreciation of the nuances of front-end performance.
• Dedication to accessibility and experience working with designers to ensure that our experiences can be used by anyone, regardless of the assistive technology they may choose to use.
• The ability to interpret visual design comps and implement a designer’s vision, navigating challenges and trade-offs. An eye for typography, whitespace, and other details that occur at the intersection of design and code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interpret requests from non-technical people.

Execute innovative marketing strategy through a diverse channel mix, for leading NGOs, charities and brands. As an Associate Director in the Paid Media Team, you'll oversee the execution of digital advertising campaigns across clients ranging from leading UK and global charities and UN bodies, to global brands and their CSR programmes.

You will know how to drive strong performance metrics for clients, whilst thinking holistically about the brand and how these metrics contribute to wider conversation about marketing budgets and long-term growth objectives. You will be a senior member of our media practice in London, supporting the Media Director in shaping processes and innovating our client channel mix to drive results.

This may be the right role for you if you’re someone who is equally strategic, creative, and analytical. Switching seamlessly from a client presentation to writing an insightful analysis of campaign performance, and rolling up your sleeves to launch advertising campaigns in new platforms are no big deal for you. • Translate clients’ strategic visions into media objectives and KPIs to accomplish a wide range of client objectives including direct response (lead gen and fundraising), awareness, persuasion, and advocacy.
