Overview

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing team to develop and manage the the overall user experience for our hero product, the BitMEX trading platform.  As a Product Designer, you'll need to work closely with product managers, engineers and the commercial teams to roll out new features and improve the customer experience. Also, you'll have the opportunity to expand your role as we increase our product offerings.  

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting research in the formulation of product design that improves consumer experience.
  Collaborating with relevant other departments (Product Management, Client Dev etc) on user research and competitive product analysis.
• Creating and developing a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy.
• Producing high-quality design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards and site maps.
• Working with the Product team in iterating and refining the proposed or implemented product features for further enhancement of the user experience.
• Regularly presenting these solutions to the broader Product team and organisation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of UX / UI experience, with some exposure within the FinTech space.
• Strong visual design skills with good understanding of user-system interaction
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in graphic design, interface design or a related field
• Experience across multiple technologies, locations, and channels (Mobile, Desktop, and Web)
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience in trading platforms; keen interest in cryptocurrencies and digital assets

Role Overview

As a Senior Front End Engineer (Web/API), you’ll design and implement fast, real-time web applications. Our platform at BitMEX is built with React.JS and finely optimized for performance. To succeed in this role, you should have a deep understanding of how common just-in-time (JIT) compilers work, significant experience with React, and a passion for exploring new technologies. 

You’ll be joining our web engineering team, where you’ll build and maintain the user interface and backend services for our trading terminal. Your focus will be on creating highly responsive frontend components, ensuring smooth integration with backend systems, and optimizing performance and security for real-time data flows. You’ll work closely with product managers, traders, and engineers to deliver a fast, reliable, and intuitive trading platform

Responsibilities

• Development of the BitMEX Web Frontend and React components
• New feature design and implementation, bug fixing, and performance tuning
• Working closely with the API and Engine teams to integrate new features and unique consumer-facing products
• Help develop and maintain APIs required for different trading experiences (Backend or Frontend)
• Exploring and evaluating new stack components and architecture ideas as necessary
• Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architectural discussions and decisions.

Requirements

• Intimate experience with JS and JS performance characteristics
• Experience with NodeJS, React, and Flux architecture
• Experience with Flow/TypeScript
• Experience making complex, data-driven products accessible to consumers
• Ability to simultaneously develop several products and concepts in development
• Familiarity with current UX trends and curiosity for new UX concepts (conversational UI, etc)
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
