What you will be doing
As a Fullstack Engineer at avi, you'll be at the heart of our international engineering efforts, joining our core product team. You'll collaborate with other pragmatic technologists to design, implement, and deliver delightful and innovative treatment experiences on the web, mobile and backend, which we are building from scratch. Your work will help visualize medical treatment processes and ensure an accurate digital therapy process, impacting thousands of patients daily. We're looking for someone with a passion for creating highly reliable experiences that make a real difference.

What success looks like

After 3 months, you'll have immersed yourself in our company culture, understood our technical needs, and established strong relationships with key stakeholders. You'll begin leading subprojects and contributing to the overall architecture of our platform.

After 6 months, you'll have a solid grasp of the healthcare sector and our platform's intricacies. You'll have led several subprojects, showcasing your ability to drive innovation and efficiency. Your contributions will start to show improvements in our platform's performance and reliability.

After 12 months, you'll be fully adapted to our dynamic environment and recognized as a critical strategic partner. You'll have made significant strides in optimizing our platform's architecture, with a track record of successful projects and improvements that align with our long-term objectives

Core skills & qualifications to help you succeed in this role are

• At least 3 years of professional experience in software engineering and development

• Proficiency in Java (EE), at least one commandline language (e.g. Bash, Python, Ruby) and Hybrid Mobile Frameworks (Flutter or React Native)

• A strong understanding of distributed systems and micro-service architecture 

• The ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively 

• Strong written, verbal communication skills; ability to influence others within your team and outside your team 

• Attention to detail, particularly around software engineering fundamentals, testing methodologies, and quality 

• Strong sense of ownership, and initiative to fix problems and optimize systems that are both inside and outside your area of responsibility 

• Willingness and optimism to try new ideas; ability to quickly adapt and learn from mistakes and from other team members 

• Proficient in English

Was du tun wirst

Wir suchen eine/n talentierten und motivierten IT Engineer:in (all genders) für unser Infrastructure Team. Deine zentrale Aufgabe besteht darin, unsere Avi Hausarztpraxen in Köln und Düsseldorf im Rahmen von 1st Level Support zu unterstützen sowie an Projekten zur Optimierung von bestehenden Prozessen mitzuarbeiten. Du prüfst den Status der Infrastruktur und stellst durch planmäßige Besuche vor Ort sicher, dass an allen Standorten die Standardkonfiguration eingehalten wird. Als Teil des Engineering-Teams arbeitest du eng mit anderen Abteilungen zusammen, um die Sicherheit, Zuverlässigkeit, Skalierbarkeit und Verfügbarkeit unserer Infrastruktur an allen Standorten zu gewährleisten. Das oberste Ziel ist es, unserer Mission gerecht zu werden: Democratize best-in-class medical care for a healthier society. 

Zu deinen Aufgaben gehören

• Verstehen der End-User:innen und ihrer Bedürfnisse
• Entwicklung von IT-Lösungen, die den Bedürfnissen und Wünschen der Kolleg:innen in den Praxen gerecht werden
• Konfiguration von Hardware und Systemen, um neue Funktionen zu ermöglichen
• Kontinuierliche Verbesserung bestehender IT-Systeme und Aktualisierung der Standortdokumentation
• Implementierung von Automatisierungen zur Reduzierung manueller Aufgaben im gesamten Unternehmen
• Entwicklung automatisierter Tests/Checklisten für funktionale und nicht-funktionale Anforderungen
• Sicherstellen, dass Systeme korrekt und schnell für die Anwendung durch die Endnutzer:innen konfiguriert sind
• Beheben von Hardware- und Systemfehlern, die bei unseren Nutzer:innen zu negativen Erfahrungen führen, auch im Rahmen regelmäßiger Standortbesuche
• Einrichten von Checks, um sicherzustellen, dass das System wie vorgesehen funktioniert
• Bearbeiten von Fehlermeldungen, die von Nutzer:innen oder automatisierten Checks gemeldet werden
• Bearbeiten von 1st Level Supportanfragen sowie Weiterleiten 2nd Level Support Cases an andere IT Engineer:innen 

Was Du mitbringen solltest, um in dieser Rolle erfolgreich zu sein:

• Sehr gute analytische Fähigkeiten und Troubleshooting Skills
• Fundierte Kenntnisse in den Bereichen Netzwerke, Systeme und Endpoint Support
• Absolvent:in mit einem Abschluss im Bereich IT und/oder zwei Jahre Berufserfahrung im IT Bereich
• Interesse und Bereitschaft, die Sichtweise anderer zu verstehen
• Fähigkeit, Gedanken und Ideen klar und konkret zu vermitteln
• Eigenständige Arbeitsweise und Verantwortungsbereitschaft
• Lernbereitschaft in Bezug auf das Setzen von Prioritäten sowie neue Fähigkeiten zu entwickeln, auch ohne stetigen Austausch mit Seniors

What you will be doing
As a Senior System Administrator, you will be the backbone of our operational technology, ensuring a secure, reliable, and highly available IT environment across our practices and corporate infrastructure.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Infrastructure Management: Setup, maintain, and secure communication infrastructure, including IP Telephony, VPNs (e.g., Meraki VPN), and Mobile Device Management (MDM).
• Practice IT: Configure, deploy, and maintain medical equipment and all necessary IT devices within our medical practices.
• Security & Compliance: Manage critical data transfer and communication channels, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory bodies like gematik and HÄVG.
• Identity & Access: Administer and secure our cloud identity and access management systems, including Google Workspace, Central Identity Provider (IdP), and authentication platforms like Okta and JumpCloud.
• High Availability & Monitoring: Implement strategies to ensure and maintain high system availability, proactively monitoring system health and performance.
• Automation: Drive efficiency by automating provisioning, configuration management, and setup processes as much as possible to ensure scalability and consistency.
• Security Operations: Manage endpoint security solutions, such as Crowdstrike, and maintain operating systems like Windows Server, Debian Linux, and Oracle Linux.

After 12 months, you'll be fully adapted to our dynamic environment and recognized as a critical strategic partner. You'll have made significant strides in optimizing our automated provisioning and configuration processes, with a track record of successful projects that ensure our platforms are scalable and highly secure.

Core skills & qualifications to help you succeed in this role are

• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in Systems Administration or Infrastructure engineering.
• Proven proficiency in managing complex, multi-site network infrastructure, including VPN and firewall technologies (e.g., Meraki, WireGuard, TailScale).
• Expertise in administering modern Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems (e.g., Okta, JumpCloud) and cloud administration (Google Workspace, Google Cloud).
• Strong command-line skills in a Linux environment (Debian/Oracle) and experience with Windows Server administration.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and security standards in a highly regulated industry; familiarity with gematik or HÄVG communication protocols is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to automate system tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools.
• Strong sense of ownership and initiative to fix problems, ensuring high availability and reliability of critical services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across clinical and technical teams.
