We are seeking a Quality Supervisor to lead quality operations supporting the production of advanced telecommunications satellite systems. This role is responsible for ensuring product integrity across all phases of manufacturing by driving compliance, overseeing inspections, and leading a high-performing quality team. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, a hands-on approach to problem solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

This position is assigned to Shift 2-Nights: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. (4x10s). Depending on business needs, this role may also have opportunities on:

• Shift 1- Days: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (4x10s).
• Shift 3- Weekends: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (3x12s).

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education:

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Metrology Technician Lead to validate critical dimensions on complex satellite assemblies using advanced precision measurement equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Laser Trackers, Romer Arms, and 3D Laser Scanning systems. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Spatial Analyzer (SA) and PC-DMIS measurement software to ensure accurate data collection, alignment, and dimensional verification in a high-precision aerospace manufacturing environment.

In addition to technical execution, this position serves as a lead for daily metrology operations, supporting workflow coordination, technician assignment, and production prioritization to ensure timely and accurate completion of measurement activities.

Leadership & Operational Coordination

As a lead, this role is responsible for organizing and managing metrology work through internal tracking systems (Jira or equivalent), including:

• Prioritizing and scheduling measurement requests based on production needs and urgency
• Assigning tasks to Metrology Technicians to balance workload and optimize efficiency
• Coordinating overtime coverage, including weekday and weekend assignments
• Collaborating with second-shift teams and external metrology contractors to ensure continuity of operations
• Communicating daily activities, priorities, and risks to the Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager

This position plays a critical role in ensuring alignment between metrology, production, and quality teams while maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

What You’ll Do:

Dimensional Inspection & Alignment

• Perform precision measurement and alignment of large satellite structures using:
• Laser Trackers
• Portable CMM systems (Romer Arms)

What you bring:

Education

Role Summary

AST SpaceMobile is hiring part-time AI Quality Technician Labeler in Midland, TX to label imagery of spacecraft components, sub-assemblies, and factory-floor assembly steps used to train AST’s computer-vision and robotics AI models.

 Working on-site in the AI Lab, you will use AST’s in-house labeling software to draw bounding boxes, polygons, and segmentation masks; classify components and defects; and follow detailed labeling guidelines defined by AST’s data scientists and manufacturing quality engineers. This is a high-precision, security-controlled role: the lab is a no-personal-electronics environment, and your accuracy and consistency directly determine the quality of the AI models AST relies on for visual inspection and robotic operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Label images and short video clips of spacecraft components, sub-assemblies, and assembly steps using AST’s in-house computer-vision labeling software

The Senior Inspector also provides technical guidance to junior inspectors and production teams, supports continuous improvement, and ensures adherence to cleanroom and space-industry quality protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspections of battery cells, modules, harnesses, and final packs using precision tools and test equipment.
• Verify conformance of materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products against drawings, work instructions, and quality specifications (NASA/ESA/IPC/MIL standards).
• Review and validate inspection and test documentation, including travelers, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and certificates of conformance (CoCs).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-process, first-article, and final inspections of Cover Glass Integrated Solar Cells (CICs) and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Verify precision alignment, bonding, attachment, and cleanliness of cover glass components under cleanroom and ESD-protected environments.
• Review and interpret quality documentation, work instructions, drawings, and inspection criteria, ensuring compliance with space industry standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA, IPC, MIL-STD).
• Conduct inspections using specialized tools such as microscopes, optical comparators, profilometers, and metrology equipment.
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) implementation.

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer provides hands-on quality assurance and mission assurance support across product development, manufacturing, integration, and test activities. This role ensures hardware, software, and production processes meet internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory/compliance obligations. The engineer drives defect prevention, root cause analysis, process control, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve product reliability, reduce risk, and ensure flight-ready performance of satellite systems and supporting equipment.

This Shift 2 is a night shift working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and has a 10% pay increase as a result.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Compliance

• Prepare, maintain, and review quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and government requirements.
