We are seeking a Principal Technical Consultant to join our Customer Success Public Sector team. In this role, you will be engaging with our public sector customers post-sales to develop software solutions on the Appian platform. These applications help companies drive digital transformation and competitive differentiation. Your primary responsibility will be to lead projects and work throughout the entire project life-cycle to define, design, develop and implement custom software and AI solutions using Appian’s platform for our commercial clients. This includes working within an agile environment to understand our client’s business processes and technical needs, launch new relational data models in production, developing APIs to integrate with multiple systems, partnering with Appian Architects and Technical Delivery Managers, and leading/mentoring consultants through fast-paced software implementations. You’ll brainstorm AI use cases and implement Appian’s AI tools by applying retrieval augment generation (RAG), agentic workflows, prompt engineering and the latest generative models as a part of transforming how customers run their organization. You will also collaborate with client’s technical teams and business users as needed throughout the entire software and development life cycle and drive adoption by empowering clients to become self-sufficient with building process applications on their own.

To be successful in this role, you will:
Advise customers on the technical design, architecture and implementation of Appian solutions on a customer’s private cloud or on-premise hosting solution, and/or integrating Appian government cloud offerings with the customer’s infrastructure
Support the sales cycle through the creation of high-value, differentiated solutions, based on Appian’s technology, that integrates and defines program and project management disciplines with a compelling technical solution and delivery roadmap
Present and vet integrated solutions and complex technical concepts and designs to our customers and other audiences
Support customers on the configuration, testing, deployment and operations of Appian applications, following agile delivery methodologies and Appian best practices
Work with clients on all aspects of their program to drive technical success and efficiency, including advising of development practice, program management and governance and delivery automation (version control, configuration management, and other DevSecOps and Infrastructure Automation practices)
Lead the definition and development of Appian Customer Success innovations and offerings in order to support leading Appian delivery capabilities, and bring together emerging requirements and practices from our customers and industry
Collect and review technical challenges with a team of architects and distill into common best practices and common solutions
Support the development and review of whitepapers and pre-sales solutioning and proposals
Basic qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
At least 5 years of experience advising customers on design and implementation of government cloud computing platforms, and at least 10 years of multi-tier application design and architecture
Experience with architecting secure cloud based hosting solutions for federal customers using Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and/or Microsoft Azure. Leadership experience designing, architecting or delivering one or more enterprise-level cloud environments (e.g. C2S, JWICS, GovCloud, etc.)
Experience authoring federal proposals and whitepaper is required
In depth experience, managing federal programs and projects and leading IT delivery using agile frameworks, tooling and methodologies, including Scrum and SAFe
Experience accelerating IT solution under the federal government’s Risk Management Framework is preferred
Experience with designing and implementing DevSecOps pipelines and Infrastructure Automation frameworks, using toolsets like Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Cucumber, JMeter, and Fitnesse, preferred
Willingness to travel; 10-15% to support customer engagements including SCIF’s
Other Skills:
Strong communication and presentation skills
Guiding client enterprise architecture teams as needed during the design and implementation of scalable solutions

Appian is seeking a hands-on Technical Delivery Manager to take post-sales ownership across multiple strategic accounts and support our continued growth. This is a senior role within our Customer Success organisation, responsible for delivering enterprise-grade solutions powered by Appian’s cutting-edge platform.
Your focus will be spread across multiple customers and you’ll work directly with key project and executive stakeholders throughout the entire project life-cycle to ensure client satisfaction and adoption. You will also play a significant role in supporting new business software and services opportunities.
The TDM will also play an important role in mood orchestration, fostering a culture of positivity, high performance and collaboration aligned to Appian’s values. They will also work extensively with our people, providing coaching, actionable feedback and mentoring to support their career progression and development within Appian.
This roles requires someone who is fluent in both Japanese and English.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Oversee the delivery of Appian projects to ensure deployment matches client executive and business sponsor expectations.
- Mentor a team and manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, nurturing them from inception to launch while collaborating with stakeholders and establishing realistic development guidelines.
- Interface with Appian Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Product Management, and Product Support.
- Work with delivery partners within the region to augment Appian led engagements with partner resources as well as to supplement partner led engagements with Appian resources.

The base salary for this role is between $153,000-$207,000 per year and represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market and business conditions that exist when extending an offer. A discretionary bonus may be awarded in recognition of individual and company performance.
In addition, Appian provides generous benefits offerings that include a 401(k) plan with company match, flexible time off, paid parental leave, medical, dental, and vision plans, life insurance, disability insurance, wellness programs, flexible spending accounts, health savings account contributions, an employee referral bonus program, and learning and development resources. The base salary for this role is between $125,000-$200,000 per year and represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant work experience, qualifications, internal peer equity, and market and business conditions that exist when extending an offer. A discretionary bonus may be awarded in recognition of individual and company performance.
