Brief Overview 

As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (P4), you will define and elevate the reliability standards across the platform. This role goes beyond owning individual services — you will establish the patterns, practices, and tooling that enable all teams to build and operate reliable systems at scale.

You will operate across team boundaries, identifying systemic reliability risks and designing cross-cutting solutions that improve the overall health of the platform. Acting as a bridge between service-level reliability and organizational maturity, you will help ensure reliability becomes a built-in property of the system rather than a reactive effort.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and influence. You will mentor senior engineers, guide architectural decisions, and promote a culture of proactive reliability, observability, and operational excellence across the organization.

Core Responsibilities 

• Define and evolve reliability standards, patterns, and tooling adopted across the platform.
• Own the reliability posture for critical service domains and drive architectural reviews to ensure reliability, operability, and recovery are first-class concerns.
• Design and implement cross-cutting reliability mechanisms such as circuit breakers, retry policies, graceful degradation, and load shedding.
• Establish and maintain scalable SLO frameworks that teams can adopt with minimal friction.
• Lead complex, multi-service incident response as an incident commander and drive high-quality postmortems focused on systemic improvements.
• Identify recurring incident patterns and implement structural solutions to prevent future failures.
• Improve incident response processes, tooling, escalation paths, and communication practices.
• Design and drive observability strategies across services, including metrics, logs, traces, and alerting systems.
• Ensure alerting is actionable and aligned with SLOs, and build shared dashboards and runbooks to reduce time to resolution.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering to strengthen infrastructure reliability across Kubernetes (EKS), networking, and data systems.
• Contribute to infrastructure as code for reliability-critical components and validate disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies.
• Drive chaos engineering practices and ensure deployment pipelines include reliability safeguards such as health checks, canary releases, and rollback automation.
• Lead capacity planning and performance optimization efforts across services and shared infrastructure.
• Identify bottlenecks and failure risks across distributed systems and design solutions that improve resilience and recovery.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, incident leadership, and knowledge sharing.
• Promote best practices, improve operational maturity across teams, and influence engineering culture toward proactive reliability investments.
• Represent reliability concerns in cross-functional planning and contribute to long-term platform strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, infrastructure, or production engineering roles.
• Strong experience operating and improving large-scale production systems in AWS environments.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes (preferably EKS), including networking, scheduling, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CDKTF.
• Advanced understanding of distributed systems, networking, and failure modes.
• Experience designing and managing observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry).
• Proven experience leading incident response for complex, multi-service production environments.
• Demonstrated ability to drive systemic reliability improvements across teams and platforms.
• Strong written communication skills, including experience creating postmortems, design documents, runbooks, and architectural proposals.
• Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) and mTLS is a plus.
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux) is a plus.
• Experience working in compliance-driven environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2, FedRAMP) is preferred.
• Exposure to chaos engineering practices and cost-aware infrastructure design (FinOps) is a plus.

Behavioural Health Coaches should expect to work on a part-time basis of 20 hours per week.

• Provide weekly written reviews to support and guide users as they progress through their programme.

Brief Overview 

The Account Director, Clinical Program Engagement will play a critical role in the success of Amwell's relationship with assigned Payer Accounts. Success will be measured by client growth in new business, retention, client satisfaction, optimizing program utilization, outcomes, and the financial performance of the overall suite of clinical programs. The primary initial focus of the role will be to develop relationships with assigned Payer Accounts, Brokers, Consultants, and Health Plan Account Executives to successfully expand adoption, enrollment and engagement in Amwell's products and services.

The role requires a seasoned individual contributor that can “roll up their sleeves” and take a direct approach to grow the business. A successful person in this role is an experienced, energetic sales and account management professional and strategist adept in operational excellence, clinical, professional acumen, and the ability to develop and deploy strategic account and employer specific marketing plans to drive towards our stated success metrics. Extensive task management around deliverables, execution of deployment/new launches, account planning, program demonstrations, marketing plans, reporting, QBRs, and internally interfacing and coordinating with finance, marketing, clinical and product resources to support the client. In addition, this role is the day-to-day liaison with the third-party clinical program partners, holding those partners accountable to execute on the engagement plans and to follow the “rules of engagement” with the Amwell client.

The Account Director, Clinical Program Engagement will be assigned specific client accounts, seamlessly interface and gain the trust of clients at all levels, and lead the internal Amwell team through pre and post-sale of commercial accounts, implementations, post go-live, marketing campaigns, reporting and expansion of the existing relationship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience as a Java Developer or in a similar senior software engineering role, with at least 2+ years in a leadership position.
• Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB) or similar cloud platforms.
• Some knowledge in front-end technologies including JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and frameworks like React or Angular.
• Deep understanding of back-end development, with experience in Java and RESTful API design.
• Solid experience in software architecture, system design, and best practices for developing scalable backends for web applications.
• Expertise in version control systems, especially Git and GitLab (or GitHub), in a collaborative development environment.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and growth within the team.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Data Architect with a focus on healthcare interoperability and enterprise data systems to lead the evolution of our data architecture. This role is critical in reducing institutional reliance on individual contributors by fully documenting existing systems, transferring knowledge, and designing a robust, scalable, and future-ready architecture. The ideal candidate will assess and document the current data ecosystem—particularly our use of UDMH—identify and eliminate operational risks, and guide the organization through a strategic evaluation of proprietary vs. non-proprietary data model options.

Core Responsibilities 

• Conduct a comprehensive current-state assessment of our UDMH and data integration landscape.
• Document institutional knowledge and undocumented architecture currently held by a single contributor, with the goal of eliminating personnel-based single points of failure (SPOFs).
• Develop and maintain architecture artifacts including data flow diagrams, system dependencies, integration points, and technical documentation.
• Lead technology evaluations and proof-of-concept efforts for emerging interoperability tools (e.g., FHIR servers, interface engines, AI/ML-driven transformation platforms) to validate scalable and innovative architecture components.
• Evaluate proprietary vs. non-proprietary paths for UDMH, providing technical and strategic recommendations based on scalability, cost, flexibility, and long-term sustainability.
• Define and communicate a future-state data architecture roadmap that supports scalability, fault tolerance, and evolving organizational needs.
• Design and implement interoperable data solutions using standards such as FHIR and HL7 to support seamless integration across healthcare systems.
• Provide subject matter expertise in source-to-target mapping across data systems and specifications
• Oversee the integration of diverse data sources into a unified, governed data platform to support both clinical and operational use cases.
• Define data models, classifications, and types that align with business and clinical application needs.
• Establish KPIs and monitoring frameworks to assess system performance, availability, data quality, and architectural resilience over time.
• Lead and enforce data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards, emphasizing data quality, privacy, and security.
• Continuously optimize and automate data integration workflows, improving availability, performance, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, with a strong focus on healthcare data interoperability.
• Deep expertise with FHIR, HL7, CCDA and other healthcare data standards.
• Familiarity with USCDI
• Proven success in documenting and transitioning legacy systems where key knowledge was concentrated in a single role or individual.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security, and HIPAA compliance.
• Experience designing or evolving UDMH or similar healthcare data platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and modern data architectures (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
