The small molecule CMC team is seeking highly motivated Sr. Scientist I of Analytical Development to help build our dynamic small molecule CMC group at Alumis. The successful candidate will help to support the analytical development and quality control activities from the preclinical phase through late-stage clinical development. Having analytical development expertise and experience in working with CMOs/CTLs, coupled with thorough understanding of the associated quality and regulatory awareness are key assets. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Support development, validation, and transfer of analytical methods to support starting material, intermediate, drug substance and drug product testing at CMOs/CTLs  
• Execute and/or support the in-house method development activities using UPLC/HPLC, LC-MS, KF, and dissolution instrumentation and techniques for Phase 1 to late-stage drug development 
• Review CMO/CTL analytical data (in-process, release, and stability data), protocols and reports  
• Trend stability and release data using statistical methods 
• Assist in investigation for various non-conformance events at CMOs/CTLs 
• Collaborate with CMC team, QA and CMOs/CTLs towards timely generation and approval of documents 
• Communicate scientific results (oral and written) in a clear and concise manner within cross-functional teams 
• Author technical reports and documents in support of regulatory filing 
• Assist in preparation of CMC documents for regulatory submissions (IND, IMPD, and/or NDA) 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE 

• BS/MS in chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences with 5+ years of experience in analytical development 
• Experience with analytical techniques for small drug molecules and oral solid formulations required, including UPLC/HPLC, LC-MS, KF, dissolution testing, IR, particle size analysis, and solid-state characterization techniques 
• Proven track record in applying analytical techniques to solve challenging problems 
• Experience in working with CMOs and CTLs 
• Experience in early to late-stage drug development 
• Strong organizational and communication skills 
• Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment and a strong team player 
• Experience and knowledge in ICH, cGMP and regulatory requirements

The salary range for this position is $112,000 USD to $135,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Scientist for the Drug Product Development group who can work in a collaborative and dynamic environment. The scientist in this role is responsible for activities critical to the development of Alumis’ molecules including generation of pre-formulation packages, formulation selection, and manufacturing process development. This primary focus of this role will currently be on solid oral dosage form development but may involve the development of other dosage forms in the future.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on pre-clinical formulation development includes identifying vehicles, excipients, and/or new technologies for poorly water-soluble compounds in support of preclinical PKPD, efficacy, and tox studies.
• Execute and/or oversee pre-formulation activities including characterization of physicochemical and solid-state properties for investigational small molecules with hands-on instrumental analysis (HPLC/UPLC, DSC, XRPD) and method development.
• Work effectively with external CDMOs to develop early-stage drug products and oversee production of clinical trial material in support of clinical timelines.
• Experience in formulation development, process optimization for small molecule solid oral dosage forms including modified-release products includes execute/oversee formulation and manufacturing process development activities.
• Excellent oral and writing communication skills and flexibility to work in a fast-paced team environment by providing updates (oral and written) clearly and concisely.
• Support relevant CMC sections for key regulatory filings including INDs and NDAs. Experience in authoring technical reports and regulatory documents (e.g. IND/NDA) is a plus.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment. Proactively identify project risks and prepare mitigation and contingency plans.
• Willing to travel as needed to support ongoing development activities.

Education 

Ph.D. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years or B.S. or M.S. with a minimum of 10+ years related industrial experience.

Alumis is seeking a Director of Clinical Pharmacology & DMPK to drive clinical pharmacology strategy and PK/PD modeling for our small-molecule programs in immune-mediated diseases. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams and reports to the Head of Clinical Pharmacology & DMPK.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:   

• Lead clinical pharmacology strategy, dose selection, and PK/PD and biomarker planning across early and late-stage programs.
• Conduct and interpret PK, PK/PD, exposure–response, and simulation analyses using tools such as NONMEM, WinNonlin, R, Python, and Simcyp.
• Integrate translational and nonclinical PK/PD data to support FIH dose projections and DDI assessments.
• Oversee bioanalytical CROs, ensuring high-quality PK/PD/biomarker data and GLP/GCP compliance.
• Partner with Clinical Operations on sample management and protocol design.
• Communicate quantitative findings clearly and contribute to regulatory documents (protocols, IBs, INDs, NDAs, IMPDs).
• Collaborate across Clinical Development, Biostats/Data Science, Nonclinical, and Program Management.

Key Requirements and Qualifications 

• PhD, PharmD, or equivalent in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology, or related field.
• 6 to 8+ years of industry experience in Clinical Pharmacology, DMPK, or Quantitative Pharmacology.
• Strong expertise in PK, PK/PD, DMPK, and translational sciences.
• Proficiency with modeling/simulation platforms (NONMEM, WinNonlin, Simcyp, R, Python).
• Excellent communication, organization, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
