About the Role

You will be the founding BI Engineer at Altana, responsible for building the analytical infrastructure that enables data-driven decision-making across the entire company. This is not a reporting role that sits downstream of decisions already made—it is a foundational engineering role that will define how Altana understands its own business, customers, and products.

You will own the full stack from data modeling and pipeline orchestration through semantic layers, dashboards, and self-service tooling. You will partner directly with engineering, product, go-to-market, and finance leadership to translate ambiguous business questions into reliable, well-modeled data products. Because you are the first hire in this function, you will also set the technical direction, tooling choices, and quality standards that future BI engineers will inherit.

What You Will Do

Build the BI Foundation

• Design and implement a scalable analytics data warehouse (or lakehouse) layer on top of Altana’s existing data infrastructure.
• Define the canonical dimensional model: facts, dimensions, conformed keys, and slowly changing dimensions for core business entities (customers, transactions, subscriptions, product usage, pipeline).
• Stand up and own the transformation layer (e.g., dbt) with version control, CI/CD testing, and documentation standards from day one.
• Establish a semantic/metrics layer so that “revenue,” “active customer,” and “retention” mean exactly one thing company-wide.

Deliver Insight at Scale

• Build and maintain executive dashboards covering SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, GRR, expansion/contraction, logo churn), product engagement, and operational health.
• Create self-service datasets and exploration environments so that PMs, GTM leads, and finance can answer their own questions without filing a ticket.
• Own data quality monitoring, alerting, and incident response for the BI layer.

Partner Across the Business

• Act as the embedded analytics thought partner for engineering leadership, product, sales, CS, and finance—translating business context into data requirements and vice versa.
• Proactively identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities in the data; surface them before anyone asks.
• Drive alignment on KPI definitions, measurement methodology, and reporting cadences.

Set the Technical Direction

• Evaluate and recommend the BI tooling stack (visualization, orchestration, cataloging, observability) with an eye toward total cost of ownership and long-term maintainability while re-using infrastructure and tooling already part of the larger stack.
• Write the playbook: style guides, naming conventions, PR review standards, and on-call expectations for the BI function.
• Hire, mentor, and grow the BI team as demand scales.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

• 7+ years of professional experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or a closely related data discipline.
• Deep fluency in SQL and at least one transformation framework (dbt strongly preferred).
• Strong dimensional modeling skills: star/snowflake schemas, conformed dimensions, incremental loading patterns.
• Production experience operating a modern lakehouse stack (e.g., Snowflake/BigQuery/ Databricks),  including transformation tooling (dbt or DLT) and a BI layer (Looker, Tableau, or Sigma).
• Track record of defining and shipping company-wide KPI frameworks and executive dashboards.
• Comfort working in ambiguity: you have built a BI function (or a significant new workstream within one) from scratch before.
• Excellent communication skills—you can explain a data model to an engineer and a retention curve to a CRO with equal clarity.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Python for data pipelines, scripting, or lightweight ML/statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with SaaS business models and metrics (ARR, NRR, logo vs. dollar churn, cohort analysis).
• Exposure to supply chain, trade compliance, or government contracting domains.
• Experience with data cataloging or governance tools (e.g., Atlan, DataHub, Monte Carlo).
• Prior experience as the first or founding analytics hire at a growth-stage company.

US Salary Range and Benefits

$180,000- $210,000 USD

The Role: Principal Product Manager Supply Chain Intelligence

When a new tariff hits, a regulation changes, or a geopolitical crisis reshapes supply chains, companies scramble to understand their exposure and what to do next. Supply chains are vast, opaque, and shaped by complex regulations. The data needed to act is scattered across systems and buried in value chains that span dozens of countries and hundreds of suppliers.  Altana maps these supply chains into a global network, giving companies multi-tier visibility they've never had before.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

You will own turning that visibility into prioritized action for importers, logistics service providers, and compliance teams. Help users answer questions like: 

• What's the impact of a new tariff on my business?
• How do I ensure my supply chain is free from forced labor?
• Where am I concentrated on a single supplier or region, and what's my contingency?                                                                                                                                                                                                               

This is the product that makes Altana's network intelligence indispensable. You'll define how customers explore and act on supply chain data across use cases: forced labor, critical minerals, foreign ownership, tariff exposure, and more. You'll design AI-native workflows, build generalizable analytical patterns, and create a bridge between insight and action. The role spans product strategy, complex data modeling, and modern AI. 

What You'll Do

Partner Deeply with Customers

Engage directly with supply chain managers, importers, brokers, and logistics service providers. Understand how they triage, prioritize, and act on supply chain risks today, where they go off-platform, and where the value proposition needs to be sharper. 

Make Complex Data Actionable

Own the product experience for how non-technical domain experts (trade compliance managers, risk analysts, procurement teams, customs brokers) explore and act on supply chain data. 

Design AI-Native Workflows

Identify where AI transforms the experience: surfacing highest-priority items and acting, explaining why a risk matters, recommending next actions, generating compliance narratives, enabling natural-language data exploration. Prototype fast and iterate based on customer feedback. Bring in agentic workflows to drive customer value: agents that monitor supplier networks for changes, flag emerging risks, or draft remediation plans a user reviews rather than builds from scratch.

Connect the Workflow Across Surfaces

Define how supply chain intelligence connects to the broader Altana product ecosystem: opportunity identification, trade compliance workflows (classification, country of origin, duty calculation), scenario modeling, and supplier collaboration. Own the boundary between analysis and action. Make the transition from understanding a risk to resolving it seamless. Partner with PMs across the portfolio so insights flow into actions and users never re-enter context.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time at a high-growth, startup delivering hosted solutions to a wide variety of user personas
• Track record of building data-intensive products: analytics platforms, business. intelligence tools, compliance or risk management software, or similar insight-driven solutions.
• Demonstrated AI/ML product experience. You've shipped AI-powered features with measurable results that connect them to customer value. Bonus if you have ML product management experience.
• Strong prototyping skills. Comfortable using AI tools, design tools, or code to rapidly test ideas before production investment.  Experience using tools to accelerate product development velocity and increase value delivered to customers.
• Technical degree (CS, engineering, or quantitative discipline) is a plus
• Familiarity with global trade, supply chain, customs, or regulatory compliance is a meaningful plus, but a fast learner with the right product instincts matters more than domain tenure.

The Role: Principal Product Manager, Customer Data Platform

As the Principal Product Manager for Customer Data Platform, you will be the owner defining strategy/product vision through feature definition and roadmap prioritization. You’ll work closely with marketing and finance teams for positioning, naming, GTM/adoption, and financial metrics. We are looking for an experienced product leader who is passionate about deeply understanding ambiguous customer problems, with demonstrated success working with engineering to deliver solutions, and translating them into disruptive, successful products that delight customers. As a Principal Product Manager with a focus on Customer Data Platform, you are defining the link between our customers' core enterprise systems and the Altana product network.

Your mission is to accelerate our customers' time-to-value. You will deeply understand customer IT, data, and security needs to architect and build robust, scalable data integrations that solve their most pressing supply chain challenges. For many customers, their supply chain data is trapped in silos—messy ERP records, fragmented PLM files, or disparate spreadsheets. Your mission is to lower the barrier to entry for everyone. You will build the "pipes" and the "intelligence" that allow any organization—from a small specialized manufacturer to a global logistics giant—to onboard their data to Altana and see immediate value.

You will own the end-to-end data journey: from the moment a user hits "Connect" or "Upload," through the complex machinery of entity resolution, to the creation of a clean, unified view of their supply chain, collaborating with their suppliers, logistics providers, and regulatory agencies.

What You'll Do

As a key technical partner for the customer, your responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:

Universal Connectivity

• The Integration Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for getting data into Altana. You will own the suite of ingestion methods: high-volume REST APIs for tech-forward clients, native connectors for major ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics), and simple, robust flat-file importers for smaller suppliers.
• Partner Ecosystem: Identify the most critical systems our customers use and lead the development of "One-Click" integrations that remove the need for custom engineering work.
• Streaming & Real-Time: Move us beyond static snapshots. Architect pipelines that support continuous data synchronization, ensuring the customer’s view of their supply chain is always current.

Intelligent Onboarding & Data Harmonization

• Self-Service Mapping: Build intuitive, low-code tools that allow non-technical users to map their internal data fields (e.g., "Vendor_ID") to Altana’s canonical schema. Make the onboarding process "wizard-driven" rather than service-driven.
• Automated Entity Resolution: Work with our AI teams to productize our matching logic. When a customer uploads a messy supplier list, your product should automatically clean, standardize, and resolve those rows against global entities.
• Data Quality Feedback: Create a transparent feedback loop. If a customer uploads bad data (broken formatting, missing fields), the system should instantly tell them what went wrong and how to fix it, without needing a support ticket.

Scalability & Security

• Tiered Experience: Design an experience that works for the "long tail." A small supplier should be able to onboard in minutes via self-service, while a large enterprise needs robust controls for massive data volume and complex permissioning.
• Trust & Governance: Ensure that our ingestion infrastructure meets the highest standards of security. You will define how we handle encryption, data residency, and access controls during the ingestion process, ensuring customers feel safe using their most sensitive supply chain data with Altana.

The Role: Director of Product Management (Public Sector)

As a Director of Product Management for Public Sector, you will lead the team defining strategy/product vision through feature definition and roadmap prioritization. Your team’s mission is to accelerate our customers' time-to-mission-outcome. You and your team will deeply understand customer IT, data, and security needs to architect and build robust, scalable products that help them solve their most pressing trade-related challenges. For government customers, law enforcement across global supply chains presents a daunting challenge. Your team’s mission is to make it easier for these customers to receive supply chain information and conduct continuous compliance monitoring, meeting the demands of the new trade environment. With Altana Product Passports, regulatory agencies can achieve faster approvals, fewer delays, and focus their enforcement efforts.

You and your team will own the end-to-end journey: from the moment a trusted business submits their Altana Product Passport, to AI-powered screening of transactions for risks, to government-to-business collaboration to investigate and clear risks in companies’ supply chains.

What You'll Do

As a key technical partner for the customer, your team’s responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:

Product Passports

• Product Passports (Government View): Define how governments consume and validate Altana Product Passports. You will build the "Pre-Clearance" infrastructure that allows trusted traders to submit supply chain visibility data in exchange for expedited treatment and reduced inspections.
• Partner Ecosystem and  Integration Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for how the product passports interact with customs and other government systems. Identify the most critical systems our customers use and lead the development of configurable integrations that remove the need for custom engineering work.
• Streaming & Real-Time: Move us beyond static snapshots. Architect pipelines that support continuous data synchronization, ensuring the customer’s view of product supply chain information is always current.

Trade Facilitation

• Trusted Trader Programs: Help the customer implement and/or modernize their trusted trader programs. Shift them from paper-based audits to real-time, data-driven monitoring of supply chain compliance.
• Automated Validation: Build tools that automate the validation of HS Codes and Country of Origin claims, helping governments close the "Tax Gap" and prevent duty evasion without slowing down commerce.
• Streaming & Real-Time: You will own the suite of integration: high-volume REST APIs for trade facilitation, ensuring that the workflows and systems are compatible with the high volumes of global trade. 

Trade Enforcement

• Network-Based Targeting: Move customs agencies beyond simple rule-matching (e.g., "Flag all goods from Country X"). Build AI-driven targeting products that analyze the network—identifying shell companies, obfuscated ownership, and anomalous trade routes that indicate evasion or illicit trade.
• Enforcement Workflows: Design the "Investigator Workbench" used by officers to review and act on high-risk shipments. You will build the tools for evidence gathering and reporting.
• Prescreening: Own the product logic for identifying risky shipments to prevent them from getting close to the border, let alone entering the country.

• Ingest product requirements, define technical requirements, and design practical, iterative technology designs that achieve our product and technical goals.
• Work with your product manager to develop implementation plans against our technical product roadmaps.

US Salary Range and Benefits

$190,000- $245,000 USD

The salary range, to the extent specified for this role, is a good faith statement of the minimum and maximum levels of the annual based salary for the position.  The base salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on a wide range of compensation factors, including, but not limited to, work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Altana's total compensation package.
