The Role: Product Expert PLM and ERP

Altana's mission is to fix globalization. PLM systems know what a product is designed to be. ERP systems know what was ordered and built. Trade and logistics systems know what was shipped and declared. In theory, these should tell a coherent story. In practice, the products these systems model diverge, lack granularity or were stylized in a way that makes the changing face of globalization break down.  The as-designed BOM, the as-sourced BOM, and the as-built BOM diverge — silently, constantly — and nobody finds out until a shipment is held, an audit is triggered, or a forced labor allegation surfaces three tiers deep in a supply chain no one has fully mapped.

It doesn't have to be this way.

Altana's Product Passports represent a fundamentally different model: a structured, continuously maintained product identity that spans the full lifecycle — from design intent through physical production and across international borders. As Product Expert for PLM and ERP, you will be the domain authority who helps Altana build this future. You've lived inside these systems — implementing PLM platforms, configuring ERP workflows, tracing the broken handoffs between product engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and trade compliance. You know exactly where the seams fail. Now you're ready to stop patching them and build the solution.

You will work at the intersection of deep enterprise systems expertise, product strategy, and modern AI tooling — translating what you know about how PLM, ERP, and trade systems actually interact into product experiences that make the complexity invisible and the compliance automatic.

What You'll Do

Reimagine the Product Data Lifecycle

• Own the product vision for how Altana's Product Passports serve as the connective tissue between PLM, ERP, and trade compliance systems — replacing the fragmented, snapshot-in-time data handoffs that define enterprise product data today.
• Define how the as-designed, as-sourced, and as-built views of a bill of materials are reconciled and maintained over time — and what it means for trade compliance when they diverge.
• Design the workflows that allow enterprises to propagate product changes — new suppliers, substitute components, revised country-of-origin determinations — continuously across their commercial documents, classifications, and regulatory filings.

Close the Gap Between Product and Trade

• Own the product vision for how structured product data flows from a SKU definition through a commercial invoice, advance ship notice, and customs entry — automatically, accurately, and with full audit trail.
• Identify where manual, error-prone processes (data re-entry between systems, BOM-to-invoice reconciliation, HTS classification at the line-item level) can be automated, validated, or eliminated entirely through a well-modeled product identity.
• Build the case — with data, customer evidence, and working prototypes — for prioritizing the integrations and automations that unlock the most compliance value.

Turn Systems Expertise into Product Requirements

• Translate your firsthand experience with PLM implementations, ERP configurations, and the broken handoffs between them into concrete product features your engineering partners can build.
• Define how Altana captures the product model — components, materials, suppliers, origin determinations — in a way that is rich enough to support trade compliance, flexible enough to reflect real-world manufacturing variance, and structured enough to be machine-readable.
• Serve as the internal authority on how enterprise product data is created, versioned, and consumed across the supply chain lifecycle, keeping product decisions grounded in operational reality.

Build Collaboratively with AI

• Use AI tools to prototype workflows, generate explanations, and rapidly test ideas with customers and engineers — before a single line of production code is written.
• Think creatively about where AI can eliminate friction at the PLM-ERP-trade interface: extracting structured BOMs from unstructured documents, reconciling as-designed vs. as-built discrepancies, recommending classifications from component-level data, or flagging origin risks before a shipment is tendered.
• Champion a culture of "show, don't tell" — use demos, mockups, and AI-assisted visualizations to align stakeholders and accelerate decision-making.

Partner Across the Ecosystem

• Engage directly with enterprise product engineers, trade compliance teams, procurement leaders, and ERP/PLM administrators to deeply understand their workflows, pain points, and workarounds.
• Work with government-facing product teams to ensure the enterprise product data model is designed as the complement to CBP's enforcement and facilitation tools — so that what an importer knows about a product is what regulators need to see.
• Collaborate with engineering on API design and data schemas that connect PLM platforms, ERP systems, logistics networks, and Altana's Product Passport layer in ways that feel seamless — not like another integration project.

You've seen what happens when an ERP item master doesn't match what's actually being shipped, and you know why that matters for trade compliance.

You're a systems thinker. You don't just know the configurations — you understand why the architecture works the way it does, where the seams fail under real-world conditions, and what a genuinely better version would look like. You're frustrated by friction that has been normalized and energized by the opportunity to fix it at scale.

You're tech-enabled and AI-curious. You don't need to write code, but you're comfortable talking to engineers about data structures, API design, and integration architecture. You use AI tools actively in your own work — to draft, prototype, analyze, and explain. Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with PLM and/or ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter, Windchill, Arena, or equivalent) in a manufacturing, sourcing, or trade compliance context
• Deep familiarity with bill of materials structures — multi-level, configurable, and as-built variants — and how they are created, maintained, and consumed across the product lifecycle
• Working knowledge of how product data flows into commercial documents: commercial invoices, packing lists, advance ship notices, and customs entries
• Experience with the PLM-ERP integration layer — item master synchronization, BOM transfer, ECO/ECN workflows, and the failure modes that emerge at each handoff
• Familiarity with trade compliance data requirements and how traditional PLM and ERP systems breakdown when interacting with fright and customs.
• Experience with data modeling, integration architecture, or enterprise system implementation is a strong plus
• Prior product management, business analysis, or enterprise technology strategy experience is a strong plus — but domain depth is the priority

$200,000 - $255,000 USD

The salary range, to the extent specified for this role, is a good faith statement of the minimum and maximum levels of the annual based salary for the position. The Role: Principal Product Manager Supply Chain Intelligence

When a new tariff hits, a regulation changes, or a geopolitical crisis reshapes supply chains, companies scramble to understand their exposure and what to do next. Supply chains are vast, opaque, and shaped by complex regulations. The data needed to act is scattered across systems and buried in value chains that span dozens of countries and hundreds of suppliers.  Altana maps these supply chains into a global network, giving companies multi-tier visibility they've never had before.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

You will own turning that visibility into prioritized action for importers, logistics service providers, and compliance teams. Help users answer questions like: 

• What's the impact of a new tariff on my business?
• How do I ensure my supply chain is free from forced labor?
• Where am I concentrated on a single supplier or region, and what's my contingency?                                                                                                                                                                                                               

This is the product that makes Altana's network intelligence indispensable. You'll define how customers explore and act on supply chain data across use cases: forced labor, critical minerals, foreign ownership, tariff exposure, and more. You'll design AI-native workflows, build generalizable analytical patterns, and create a bridge between insight and action. The role spans product strategy, complex data modeling, and modern AI.

Partner Deeply with Customers

Engage directly with supply chain managers, importers, brokers, and logistics service providers. Understand how they triage, prioritize, and act on supply chain risks today, where they go off-platform, and where the value proposition needs to be sharper. 

Make Complex Data Actionable

Own the product experience for how non-technical domain experts (trade compliance managers, risk analysts, procurement teams, customs brokers) explore and act on supply chain data. 

Design AI-Native Workflows

Identify where AI transforms the experience: surfacing highest-priority items and acting, explaining why a risk matters, recommending next actions, generating compliance narratives, enabling natural-language data exploration. Prototype fast and iterate based on customer feedback. Bring in agentic workflows to drive customer value: agents that monitor supplier networks for changes, flag emerging risks, or draft remediation plans a user reviews rather than builds from scratch.

Connect the Workflow Across Surfaces

Define how supply chain intelligence connects to the broader Altana product ecosystem: opportunity identification, trade compliance workflows (classification, country of origin, duty calculation), scenario modeling, and supplier collaboration. Own the boundary between analysis and action. Make the transition from understanding a risk to resolving it seamless. Partner with PMs across the portfolio so insights flow into actions and users never re-enter context.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience, with meaningful time at a high-growth, startup delivering hosted solutions to a wide variety of user personas
• Track record of building data-intensive products: analytics platforms, business. intelligence tools, compliance or risk management software, or similar insight-driven solutions.
• Demonstrated AI/ML product experience. You've shipped AI-powered features with measurable results that connect them to customer value. Bonus if you have ML product management experience.
• Strong prototyping skills. Comfortable using AI tools, design tools, or code to rapidly test ideas before production investment.  Experience using tools to accelerate product development velocity and increase value delivered to customers.
• Technical degree (CS, engineering, or quantitative discipline) is a plus
• Familiarity with global trade, supply chain, customs, or regulatory compliance is a meaningful plus, but a fast learner with the right product instincts matters more than domain tenure.

The Role: Principal Product Manager, Customer Data Platform

As the Principal Product Manager for Customer Data Platform, you will be the owner defining strategy/product vision through feature definition and roadmap prioritization. You’ll work closely with marketing and finance teams for positioning, naming, GTM/adoption, and financial metrics. We are looking for an experienced product leader who is passionate about deeply understanding ambiguous customer problems, with demonstrated success working with engineering to deliver solutions, and translating them into disruptive, successful products that delight customers. As a Principal Product Manager with a focus on Customer Data Platform, you are defining the link between our customers' core enterprise systems and the Altana product network.

Your mission is to accelerate our customers' time-to-value. You will deeply understand customer IT, data, and security needs to architect and build robust, scalable data integrations that solve their most pressing supply chain challenges. For many customers, their supply chain data is trapped in silos—messy ERP records, fragmented PLM files, or disparate spreadsheets. Your mission is to lower the barrier to entry for everyone. You will build the "pipes" and the "intelligence" that allow any organization—from a small specialized manufacturer to a global logistics giant—to onboard their data to Altana and see immediate value.

You will own the end-to-end data journey: from the moment a user hits "Connect" or "Upload," through the complex machinery of entity resolution, to the creation of a clean, unified view of their supply chain, collaborating with their suppliers, logistics providers, and regulatory agencies.

What You'll Do

As a key technical partner for the customer, your responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:

Universal Connectivity

• The Integration Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for getting data into Altana. You will own the suite of ingestion methods: high-volume REST APIs for tech-forward clients, native connectors for major ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics), and simple, robust flat-file importers for smaller suppliers.
• Partner Ecosystem: Identify the most critical systems our customers use and lead the development of "One-Click" integrations that remove the need for custom engineering work.
• Streaming & Real-Time: Move us beyond static snapshots. Architect pipelines that support continuous data synchronization, ensuring the customer’s view of their supply chain is always current.

Intelligent Onboarding & Data Harmonization

• Self-Service Mapping: Build intuitive, low-code tools that allow non-technical users to map their internal data fields (e.g., "Vendor_ID") to Altana’s canonical schema. Make the onboarding process "wizard-driven" rather than service-driven.
• Automated Entity Resolution: Work with our AI teams to productize our matching logic. When a customer uploads a messy supplier list, your product should automatically clean, standardize, and resolve those rows against global entities.
• Data Quality Feedback: Create a transparent feedback loop. If a customer uploads bad data (broken formatting, missing fields), the system should instantly tell them what went wrong and how to fix it, without needing a support ticket.

Scalability & Security

• Tiered Experience: Design an experience that works for the "long tail." A small supplier should be able to onboard in minutes via self-service, while a large enterprise needs robust controls for massive data volume and complex permissioning.
• Trust & Governance: Ensure that our ingestion infrastructure meets the highest standards of security. You will define how we handle encryption, data residency, and access controls during the ingestion process, ensuring customers feel safe using their most sensitive supply chain data with Altana.

Who You Are

• Integration & Data Product Expert: You have 7+ years of Product Management experience, ideally with a deep understanding of integration between data platforms. You know how to move data from Point A to Point B, you know how to clean it up when it gets there, and know how to design platforms as a data steward.
• UX-Centric Technicality: You understand the "plumbing" (APIs, EDI, ETL/ELT, JSON), but you are obsessed with the user experience. You hate clunky integration projects and strive to make data onboarding feel like magic.

The Role: Director of Product Management (Public Sector)

For government customers, law enforcement across global supply chains presents a daunting challenge. Your team’s mission is to make it easier for these customers to receive supply chain information and conduct continuous compliance monitoring, meeting the demands of the new trade environment. You and your team will own the end-to-end journey: from the moment a trusted business submits their Altana Product Passport, to AI-powered screening of transactions for risks, to government-to-business collaboration to investigate and clear risks in companies’ supply chains.

What You'll Do

As a key technical partner for the customer, your team’s responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:

Product Passports

• Product Passports (Government View): Define how governments consume and validate Altana Product Passports. You will build the "Pre-Clearance" infrastructure that allows trusted traders to submit supply chain visibility data in exchange for expedited treatment and reduced inspections.
• Partner Ecosystem and  Integration Strategy: Define and execute the roadmap for how the product passports interact with customs and other government systems. Identify the most critical systems our customers use and lead the development of configurable integrations that remove the need for custom engineering work.
• Streaming & Real-Time: Move us beyond static snapshots. Architect pipelines that support continuous data synchronization, ensuring the customer’s view of product supply chain information is always current.

Trade Facilitation

• Trusted Trader Programs: Help the customer implement and/or modernize their trusted trader programs. Shift them from paper-based audits to real-time, data-driven monitoring of supply chain compliance.
• Automated Validation: Build tools that automate the validation of HS Codes and Country of Origin claims, helping governments close the "Tax Gap" and prevent duty evasion without slowing down commerce.
• Streaming & Real-Time: You will own the suite of integration: high-volume REST APIs for trade facilitation, ensuring that the workflows and systems are compatible with the high volumes of global trade. 

Trade Enforcement

• Network-Based Targeting: Move customs agencies beyond simple rule-matching (e.g., "Flag all goods from Country X"). Build AI-driven targeting products that analyze the network—identifying shell companies, obfuscated ownership, and anomalous trade routes that indicate evasion or illicit trade.
• Enforcement Workflows: Design the "Investigator Workbench" used by officers to review and act on high-risk shipments. You will build the tools for evidence gathering and reporting.
• Prescreening: Own the product logic for identifying risky shipments to prevent them from getting close to the border, let alone entering the country.

Who You Are

• Security Clearable: Due to the nature of our government work, eligibility for a security clearance (US or UK) is required. Candidates with a prior successful Customs and Border Protection background investigation are preferred.

US Salary Range and Benefits

$230,000 - $270,000 USD

The salary range, to the extent specified for this role, is a good faith statement of the minimum and maximum levels of the annual based salary for the position. The base salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on a wide range of compensation factors, including, but not limited to, work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. The Opportunity at Altana

The Engineering team is responsible for building out the platforms, API’s, services, workflows, and logical architectures for bringing this vision to life.  We are creating a platform fundamentally driven by AI, which scales to a massive trove of data, and a diverse customer base; it is a complex system that will stretch engineering in many directions.  You’ll work closely with our Data Scientists on projects to analyze and observe world-scale datasets, write code that can scale to produce never-before-seen insights, and construct APIs to deliver our product vision.

Your Responsibilities 

• Ingest product requirements, define technical requirements, and design practical, iterative technology designs that achieve our product and technical goals.
• Work with your product manager to develop implementation plans against our technical product roadmaps.
• Personally maintain, develop, and deploy our customer facing workflows to create and  support our overall product architecture.
• Analyze and propose technical solutions to invent, enable, and enhance our product offerings.
• Be responsible for automating, testing, and deploying your own and your team’s work.
• Review the code and technical designs authored by your team members, and hold a high bar for quality.
• Mentor developers and help them level up their skills.
• Be responsible for the technical excellence of day-to-day work of a team of engineers and ensure that the team’s deliverables are maturing along the defined roadmap.
• Drive technical decision-making and problem-solving across the team, ensuring solutions are efficient, scalable, and maintainable.
• Identify technical and operational gaps for the team and create plans and work items to address them.
• Serve as the domain expert for a portion of the product surface area, while holding a firm technical understanding for other areas as well.

About You

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of real-world professional experience writing back end or data-driven software in demanding environments.
• You’ve deployed production code and services to cloud-hosted environments.
• You have demonstrated experience delivering incremental releases from proof-of-concept to MVP to production.
• Self-starter with demonstrated experience working on large, complex problems.
• You care deeply about engineering excellence, clean code, and knowledge-sharing.
• You have experience with taking over codebases and making them your own, carrying forward with new feature development.
• You are a master of prioritizing and picking your area of focus intentionally
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading other engineers on complex projects.

• Experience with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience using workflow orchestration technologies like Temporal
