A successful Assistant Principal:
The successful Assistant Principal will work closely with other members of the school leadership team to uphold high expectations, foster social development, and facilitate the intellectual growth of our educators and scholars. School leadership team members at Alpha approach coaching and instruction with patience, creativity, and a growth mindset, while using activities and instructional methods that will motivate our staff and scholars. The successful Assistant Principal is reflective in their practice and is willing to engage in conversations around educational equity and inclusivity. The position works with key leaders in schools and organizational teams to push school-related strategic initiatives, develop and monitor related projects, and assist with implementation in the school site.
The Assistant Principal is expected to:

- Promote Alpha’s staff culture, mindsets, and values by managing self and others in a manner that creates a healthy, high-achieving environment where staff feel challenged, supported, and valued
- Create opportunities for meaningful parent involvement and champion parent engagement.
Execute all day-to-day leadership responsibilities:
- Support the principal in achieving ambitious school-wide vision, goals, and targets aligned to the Alpha network vision, goals, targets, and strategic priorities, leading students to master rigorous academic content that prepares them for college
- Use data-driven cycles with leaders and teachers to analyze academic and culture data, problem solve, and generate next steps and accountability systems
Support teacher development
- Ensure high-rigor, high-engagement instruction in all classrooms through instructional coaching, professional development, and performance management
- Execute on school-wide behavior management systems, expectations, and incentives across the school site and refine as necessary
- Plan and lead teacher professional development sessions
- Formally supervise, observe, and evaluate school staff
- Support the needs of diverse learners, by ensuring differentiated instruction in classrooms, appropriate tiered interventions, and attending IEP and 504

A successful HR Associate:
The Human Resources Associate is a critical member of the Alpha Public Schools HR team, serving as a trusted partner to staff across the organization. In this role, you will drive the day-to-day operations of the HR department while building meaningful relationships at every level of the organization. We are looking for someone who is thoughtful, highly organized, and able to manage competing priorities with accuracy and care. The ideal candidate is deeply collaborative, approaches their work with a service-oriented mindset, and is personally committed to the mission of Alpha Public Schools and the communities we serve.
The HR Associate will:
- Acts as the first point of contact for employees regarding HR inquiries, policies, benefits, ensuring timely and accurate information is provided to foster a positive, compliant, and well-informed work environment.
- Support day-to-day HR operations, including management of HR tickets.
- Collaborate with managers to ensure compliance with HR policies and regulations across the organization.
- Assist in the administration and management of HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), ensuring accurate data entry, tracking, and reporting.
- Answering employee questions related to HRIS access, updates, systems (such as FSA)
- Partner with the HR Director on all steps to prepare for authorizer audits, supporting audit preparation, file tracking, employee follow ups, and meetings with authorizers.
- Partner with the HR Director to develop and execute HR communications, including reminders, celebrations, and notices.
- Lead the tracking and coordination of employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including background checks, I9s, Live Scan clearance, and new hire orientation follow-up especially for mid-year hires.
- Ensure job descriptions and onboarding materials are prepared in partnership with leaders and the HR Director before a new hire’s first day.
- Oversee the onboarding process, including orientation sessions, welcome communications, and ensuring training completion for new employees.
- Provide Verification of Employment (VOEs) based on personnel files as requested.
- Manage end-to-end processes for all leaves of absences, owning tracking, ensuring timely communication and compliance.
- Lead presentations, tracking, and communications related to maternity and paternity leaves.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the health benefits broker and ensure employee inquiries regarding benefits are addressed promptly.
- Provide support for additional employee benefits, such as FSAs, TicketsAtWork, and Empathia, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure appropriate recordkeeping, tracking, and compliance for workers compensation claims - maintaining accurate workers’ compensation documentation/trackers.

The successful Speech Language Pathologist believes that ALL students are capable of success. We seek Speech Language Pathologists who are committed to amplifying and celebrating the diverse experiences and cultures of our scholars and their families; educators who are excited to be a member of a vibrant school community; and, educators who provide access to instruction for all students by responding to socio-emotional needs, supporting literacy development across all classes and content areas, using culturally responsive instructional strategies, and accommodating individual learning differences.
The Speech Language Pathologist is expected to:
- Support with the implementation of direct speech and language services to identified students with disabilities who meet the eligibility criteria established by federal and state law
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations and analyze standardized and qualitative data to determine student eligibility for services in accordance with state and federal criteria
- Manage the selection, implementation, and collaborative support of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to ensure students have functional communication access across all environments.
- Create lesson plans and materials to support students with speech and language needs in classrooms and in direct speech and language therapy.
- Consult with general education teachers to ensure consistent implementation of IEPs and speech and language goals across all school environments
- Provide professional development sessions to school site teams that will support staff with learning more about speech and language services
- Provide legally defensible implementation of services, supports, accommodations, and modifications as provided by students’ IEPs
- Collect data on and monitor individual student performance, adjusting instruction and supports as necessary to ensure progress toward IEP goals
- Monitor timelines, interact with parents and other staff, and complete all paperwork, forms and reports.

As a Speech Language Pathology Assistant, you will join a team that supports high expectations, fosters social development, and facilitates the intellectual growth of our scholars. What you’ll do…
Collaborate and coordinate services
- Work closely with a Speech Language Pathologist to deliver speech and language support to students of all grade levels and work with staff and administrators to coordinate services as part of an integrated program
- Provide direct speech and language services to identified students with disabilities who meet the eligibility criteria established by federal and state law
- Provide push in, pull out, and/or consultative specialized instruction for students with exceptional needs
- Create lesson plans and materials to support students with speech and language needs in classrooms and in direct speech and language therapy.
- Consult with general education teachers to ensure consistent implementation of IEPs and speech and language goals across all school environments
- Assess and analyze students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering speech and language skills and applying them to the classroom instruction.
- Act as a resource to other staff and parents to help them to understand their student’s needs and to support them with suggestions to assist their students.
IEP Case Management and Support
- Provide legally defensible implementation of services, supports, accommodations, and modifications as provided by students’ IEPs
- Collect data on and monitor individual student performance, adjusting instruction and supports as necessary to ensure progress toward IEP goals
- Utilize assessment results, both formal and informal, to develop legally defensible and data-driven IEPs
- Develop student schedules to minimize loss of general education instruction
Administration and Compliance
Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with special education laws, as well as school policies and procedures
- Monitor timelines, interact with parents and other staff, and complete all paperwork, forms and reports.
You possess…
- An associate of arts or sciences degree from a speech-language pathology assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges and approved by the Board, OR
- A bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders from an institution listed in the Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education handbook and completion of 70 hours field work/clinical experience from a Board-approved program, OR

Dean of Students are expected to:
Embody the mission, vision, and core beliefs of the school and the Alpha Public Schools network.
Collaborate with other school leaders, staff, scholars, and parents to create and uphold school-wide systems and structures.
- Support teachers and school staff in maintaining healthy and thriving environment in all campus areas and support in classrooms. Provide coaching when necessary.
- Manage office referrals and facilitate restorative circles and mediation meetings with students, as needed.
- Manage emergency situations by responding to the scene, providing first aid, delegating tasks and assignments to faculty, and alerting emergency personnel as appropriate.
- Write and submit incident reports and communicate reports with other school leaders as appropriate.
- Build strong relationships with parents and teachers to support student relationships, accountability and performance.
Lead project work to develop and maintain a healthy and thriving school culture.
- Co-lead the PBIS team and program implementation.
- Coordinate with other school leaders to monitor the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at the school level to include both academic and behavioral support systems.
- Coordinate and facilitate PBIS staff professional development with school leadership.
- Oversee the implementation of Sown to Grown SEL curriculum to support students in building connections and strategies that support their development
- Oversee the implementation and refinement of student leadership development systems including activities such as lessons on leadership and responsibility, student council, peer restorative justice, peer tutoring, cross-grade buddies, etc.
- Manage and oversee other culture project plans to support student culture in a collaborative way.
Analyze and present data using our data systems (e.g,SEL, Dean’s List, survey data)
- Track and assess behavior and intervention data
- Share analyses and opportunities to the school staff to best support scholars.

Alpha Associate Teachers are expected to:
- Teach curricula aligned to Common Core standards along with social and emotional skills
- Provide coverage inside and outside of the classroom for teachers who are absent on a short- or long-term basis

- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions
- Work to maintain a positive culture on campus by building strong relationships with scholars and staff members
- Assess and analyze students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering developmental skills regularly, and responding to data to support all scholars to achieve academic success

A successful Assistant Principal:
The successful Assistant Principal will work closely with other members of the school leadership team to uphold high expectations, foster social development, and facilitate the intellectual growth of our educators and scholars. The Assistant Principal is expected to:

- Promote Alpha’s staff culture, mindsets, and values by managing self and others in a manner that creates a healthy, high-achieving environment where staff feel challenged, supported, and valued
- Create opportunities for meaningful parent involvement and champion parent engagement.
Execute all day-to-day leadership responsibilities:
- Support the principal in achieving ambitious school-wide vision, goals, and targets aligned to the Alpha network vision, goals, targets, and strategic priorities, leading students to master rigorous academic content that prepares them for college
- Use data-driven cycles with leaders and teachers to analyze academic and culture data, problem solve, and generate next steps and accountability systems
Support teacher development
- Ensure high-rigor, high-engagement instruction in all classrooms through instructional coaching, professional development, and performance management
- Execute on school-wide behavior management systems, expectations, and incentives across the school site and refine as necessary

A successful Principal in Residence (TK-8)
A successful Principal in Residence (PIR) aspires to be a principal at Alpha within the next 1–2 years and is excited to work alongside Alpha’s TK–8 school leaders to develop the skills and expertise required for the principal role. Deeply committed to Alpha’s mission, the PIR will actively contribute to the network’s success to ensure, alongside colleagues, that the network is well-positioned to meet its north star goal of 75% of alumni graduating from a 4-year college within 6 years, as well as three research-backed milestones:
- Students read at or above grade level by the end of third grade.
- Students demonstrate algebra readiness by the end of 8th grade, positioning them for algebra and advanced math coursework in high school.
- Students complete the full A–G course sequence with grades of C or better and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA across those courses, ensuring eligibility for CSU/UC admission and preparation for long-term college success.
Over a full school year, the PIR will spend approximately 3–4 months at each TK–8 campus. Working closely with each principal and under the direction of the Managing Director of Schools, the PIR will be supported to develop toward full proficiency and ownership of a set of school leadership responsibilities during each rotation. These responsibilities include the planning, preparation, facilitation, and follow-up related to:
- Coaching and development of assistant principals and/or teachers
- Leadership of school-wide data cycles, including facilitation of School Leadership Team (SLT) data meetings
- Management of SLT collaboration and alignment to advance school priorities, including facilitation of SLT strategy meetings and project management
The ideal candidate brings a relentless commitment to ensuring every child has what they need to excel academically and in life, a passion for leading teams to reach their full potential, and an authentic interest in personal leadership development. They also have extensive experience coaching teachers and/or leaders, with the ability to quickly build relationships anchored in trust and balanced with accountability for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide High-Impact Coaching to Assistant Principals and/or Teachers
Over the course of each 3–4 month rotation, the PIR will build the skills and competencies to effectively:
- Prepare for classroom and coaching observations by analyzing multiple data sources, reviewing lesson/coaching plans, and developing hypotheses about educator strengths and opportunities.
- Accurately diagnose high-leverage instructional or leadership skills for development, aligned to Alpha’s rubrics and frameworks.
- Communicate clear, leader-determined targets and goals and refine them collaboratively with the teacher/AP, creating space for educator reflection and ownership.
- Plan and facilitate coaching conversations that model high expectations, emotional intelligence, agility, and actionable next steps aligned to student achievement.
- Monitor progress and adjust coaching plans based on implementation data, educator growth, and evolving school priorities.
Lead School-Wide Data Cycles
Over the course of each rotation, the PIR will build the skills and competencies to effectively:
- Prepare for school leadership data meetings using multiple data sources to anticipate key insights and highest-leverage takeaways in alignment with Alpha’s top-line goal and milestones.
- Design and facilitate high-quality data meetings that support school leaders to analyze data, identify trends, and determine next instructional steps.
- Ensure schoolwide data systems and routines are implemented consistently to drive clarity, alignment, and accountability.
- Collaborate with the principal to identify or refine schoolwide academic priorities and align data cycles to those priorities, ensuring progress is measured and communicated clearly to stakeholders.
Strengthen Alignment and Collaboration Across the School Leadership Team
Over the course of each rotation, the PIR will build the skills and competencies to effectively:
- Plan, prepare for, and facilitate high-quality leadership strategy meetings that center school priorities, monitor progress, and support problem-solving.
- Create consistent structures and routines that help the SLT align around key schoolwide objectives, instructional practices, and culture systems.
- Support the principal in driving coherence across academic, culture, and operational priorities, ensuring consistent communication and aligned action.
- Build strong working relationships with SLT members to foster psychological safety, collaborative decision-making, and shared accountability for student outcomes.
- Establish systems for tracking SLT commitments, follow-ups, and deliverables to ensure progress and accelerate team effectiveness.
- Model effective leadership behaviors—including clarity, transparency, and strong communication—to positively influence adult culture and team dynamics.
Execute Additional School Leadership Responsibilities
Across all three TK–8 campuses, the PIR will also:
- Champion Alpha's milestones and initiatives/commitments.
- Participate in network-wide professional learning as both a learner and leader (supporting facilitators and providing feedback).
- Participate in school-wide professional learning as both a learner and facilitator.
- Work alongside principals and assistant principals to create and maintain strong school culture, including supporting school-wide behavioral systems and family engagement strategies.
- Work alongside principals and assistant principals to create and maintain strong adult culture.
- Manage components of daily school operations as assigned by the principal.
- Serve as acting principal when the principal is out of the office.

You Possess
- Bachelor’s Degree and CA Teaching Clear Credential (Required)

- Demonstrated ability to drive academic results directly (minimum 3–5 years of effective teaching experience) and through others (in a leadership role)
- Proven commitment to APS’ mission and vision and to personal leadership development, aligned with the desire to become an APS principal within 1–2 years
- Deep understanding of the California Common Core Standards, best practices, and research-based teaching strategies, with the ability to apply this understanding to high-impact coaching and feedback cycles
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-impact coaching through data analysis, informed observations, and deep listening, resulting in identification of high-leverage skills and practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, supporting the ability to collaborate effectively with school leadership and network staff
