On-Call Field Inspector - Transportation Construction Engineering
Become an on-call Construction Site Inspector with the Benesch team. In this position, you will play a crucial role in supervising construction inspections throughout the United States. The ideal candidate should possess 2+ years of practical experience in field inspections related to Railroad infrastructure projects.
Benesch’s Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working on designing and maintaining active rail systems uniquely equips our team to develop innovative solutions to a wide variety of rail projects.
Location
This position is field-based, with work conducted from a designated field office and requiring travel to various project sites. Preferred candidates should reside in one of the states where projects are located, including Arkansas, Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Texas, to facilitate site visits.
The Impact You Will Have
- Daily oversight of contractors' day-to-day work.
- Enforce contractor responsibilities and ensure strict compliance with contract specifications.
- Accurately measure and validate contractor quantities in alignment with contract terms.
- Generate comprehensive daily construction reports to monitor progress and document daily undertakings.
- Monitor quality assurance documentation to verify conformity with quality standards.
- Maintain daily Field Book entries in line with documentation requisites. This includes recording tasks, workforce, and equipment usage and capturing visual progress updates and any issues encountered.
- Track the advancement of construction activities to produce detailed work reports for field orders.
- Participate in progress meetings to provide updates when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with Resident Project managers to facilitate the resolution of technical challenges.
What you will need
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience working as a field inspector on infrastructure projects
- Concrete Structure/Bridge Inspection Experience: A strong plus.
- Eager to learn and display a proactive approach to new tasks and acquire additional skills.
- Must be capable of collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be willing and able to travel to various project site locations across the Midwest US region. #LI-MM1
