Civil/Construction Engineer

We have a career opportunity for a Civil/Construction Engineer with a proven track record of successfully managing a broad range of construction projects. In this role you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of construction projects, as well as play an important role in managing client relationships. You will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the construction group.

Location

This position offers flexibility within the Southwest, Northeast, and Northcentral regions of Wisconsin, being onsite for construction projects, and periodically reporting to our offices in either Neenah, WI or Madison, WI.

The Impact You Will Have

• Review and assure project supervisor of the adequacy of budget and schedule.
• Perform construction observation of construction activities and follow applicable project procedures. 
• Perform measurements of construction work performed and quantity calculations of pay items.
• Prepare Daily Work Reports, Engineer Diaries, and other project documentation as required by the project procedures and as directed by the project supervisor.
• Report to the project supervisor on the progress of work, including technical issues, the status of work remaining to be done, and any noted deficiencies.
• Review plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work.
• Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers.
• Maintain company-owned vehicle or other equipment assigned for use on the project.
• Expand construction service lines in new market sectors by building relationships, mentoring staff, and serving in key project leadership roles.

What We Are Looking For

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
• PE License or ability to obtain strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in a construction role is desired. Project leadership experience is a plus.
• Prior experience working with State DOTs, cities, counties, or local municipalities preferred. 
• Excellent communication and intrapersonal skills.
• Strong organization and ability to perform services efficiently and within budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work outside on foot for extended periods of time. 
• Willingness to be flexible with variable work shifts during the work week. 
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
• Good driving record and valid driver's license.

Land Surveyor / Project Surveyor

Join Benesch's Wisconsin Division as a Land Surveyor. As part of our Civil Engineering team, you will provide various field data collection and staking activities, prepare survey drawings, and work directly with internal/external clients.

The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of surveying experience, showcasing expertise in various aspects such as WisDOT topographic field work, construction inspection surveying, support for field personnel, earthwork volumes assessment, drone data collection, boundary monument searches, office data reduction, scheduling assistance, Recorder's Office research, boundary calculations, plat creation, and legal description drafting. Proficiency in boundary work, specifically with right-of-way plats, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Boundary Plats, and Easement Plats, is highly desired.

Location

This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from any of our Wisconsin region locations, including Madison, WI, Milwaukee, WI, or Neenah, WI.

The Impact You Will Have

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish survey requirements and conduct surveys in line with standards and contract specifications.
• Research necessary records, perform calculations, and analyze measurements for property locations and legal descriptions.
• Oversee final plat preparation and provide updates on progress, budget, and technical issues. Generate and review survey-related project correspondence, assist in data compilation, and ensure quality control.
• Communicate field issues to the Project Manager, document out-of-scope work, and participate in contract negotiations.

What We Are Looking For

• PLS certification in the State of Wisconsin
• Associate degree or higher in Survey & Geomatics, Survey Technology, or other related surveying program preferred, HS diploma or GED required.
• 10+ years of experience in drafting plats and boundary calculations.
• Experience processing survey and completing plats in WisDOT environment (Civil3D).
• You thrive working independently while seamlessly collaborating within a diverse project team.

Roadway Project Engineer

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Civil Roadway team in Milwaukee, Madison or Neenah! The ideal candidate has experience with civil transportation design and comprehensive knowledge of roadway projects and developing plans in accordance with local DOT standards. 

Location

This position will report to our Milwaukee, Madison or Neenah office. 

The Impact You Will Have

• Work closely with senior staff to deliver transportation projects
• Ability to work independently within a design team to execute project work plans
• Be accountable for budgets and schedules provided by the Project Manager
• Mentor junior staff
• Interact with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders

What You Will Need

• A minimum of 4 years of diverse and progressive civil transportation design experience
• Licensed PE in the state of Wisconsin or able to obtain licensure through comity within one year
• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
• Experience working with public agencies, private entities and/or municipalities
• Progressive experience with developing plans specifications, and submissions per DOT standards and requirements
• Excellent communication and client relation skills
• Strong organizational skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules
• Civil3D Designer proficiency

• Ability to work independently and develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
