Job Overview

Provide imagery science support specifically related to the exploitation of imagery of the following sensor disciplines: Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Thermal Infrared, Spectral, or Geospatial to include OPIR, Moving Target Indicator (MTI), Photogrammetry and Light Imaging Detection and Ranging (LIDAR).

Essential Functions

• Provide technical analytical expertise in support of the USMC National Geospatial-Intelligence Program funded Full Spectrum GEOINT (FSG) analysis and production program.
• Provide recommendations of operational GEOINT architectures, and FSG guidance to analysts, operators, and managers on processes, techniques and procedures.
• Participate in the development of program strategies, issues papers, briefings, and senior-level correspondence for MCIA and HQ USMC leadership necessary to sustain and expand FSG analysis and production capabilities to meet current and future USMC operations.
• Provide technical assistance in establishing relationships NSG functional managers to promote service-specific GEOINT requirements and resolve shortfall impacts to MCIA GEOINT operations.
• Provide guidance and expertise to improve competency of military and civilian analysts in applying advanced remote sensing techniques
• Support the development of collection strategies for standing, ad hoc, and emerging FSG capabilities; the investigation of and reporting on collection parameters and any associated constraints associated with littoral mission requirements; and the education and training of MCIA collections staff on existing collection strategies and collection strategy development and implementation.
• Support the development and dissemination of FSG products to satisfy USMC and Government requirements including the fusion of FSG products with data, information, and products from other Intelligence disciplines (e.g., HUMINT, SIGINT, OSINT, MASINT).
• Provide knowledge on a variety of geospatial exploitation software suites and be able to use data and products from a variety of sensors and collection platforms.
• Develop and standardize innovative and adaptive full spectrum GEOINT products and services.
• Provide research and guidance on sensor application to specific geospatial problem sets, sensor specific processing techniques, and related training/education.
• Assist in analyzing and conducting statistical analyses on image datasets, and in identifying and using alternative data sources to satisfy specific mission requirements.
• Collaborate with and provide scientific support to imagery/geospatial analysis to sharpen assessments of current intelligence issues.
• Provide Imagery Science expertise to support GEOINT analysis and assessments on intelligence issues.
• Evaluate commercial, academic, and outside approaches and algorithms, refinement, development of measures of effectiveness, improvements to system environments, and creation of new procedures.

• Ability to use GEOINT data science principles and associated competencies, evaluate discovered data’s structure, content, and attribution to determine suitability for GEOINT analysis and production
• Ability to observe data management best practice by ensuring raster/vector data are contained in geodatabases wherein features and attributes adhere to a defined schema that meets applicable standards and policies
• Ability to extract, derive, or synthesize feature/attribute data conforming to applicable National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG) standards, U.S. Marine Corps policies, and accepted best practices
• Ability to apply spatio-temporal reasoning, GEOINT processing and methodologies, and other associated competencies to perform GEOINT analysis, characterize events, and discover relationships/trends in the following domains: terrain and imagery analysis, littoral analysis, and human geography

Education / Certifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma
• Preferred certifications from NGA or other military IMINT/GEOINT courses

Experience

• 5 to 10 years of IMINT/GEOINT experience desired to include experience leading teams of analysts
• Experience briefing senior military leadership and policy makers

Job Overview

Conduct OSINT activities in response to Government Request for Information (RFI) or tasking by the OIC including working with the Government to clarify and refine the RFI, collecting, exploiting, and analyzing online open-source information, and preparing a report in the format required by the task, with minimal supervision using commercial internet, NIPRNet, SIPRNet and SCINet systems and tools.

Essential Functions

• Populate and maintain databases in support of and in conjunction with Data Analysts and Data Scientists.
• Document types and structure of open-source data, analyze and mine data to identify patterns and correlations, map and trace data from system to system or source to source, design and create data reports.
• Assist the OSINT Team in using and evaluating available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) tools.
• Employ COTS tools to aggregate, structure, visualize, and assess available open-source information; infer and assess the relevance, veracity, and credibility of the information and its source.
• Employ managed attribution (MA) software and associated online tradecraft while executing OSINT collection activities; demonstrate an understanding of the limitations of MA tools.
• Develop innovative ways to combine data from different tools to provide analytical results that are of greater value and relevance to Operational Forces.
• Train and mentor Marines in OSINT tradecraft and best practices, including the ability to administer MCIA’s Expeditionary OSINT Course.
• Identify, develop, and formalize new OSINT tradecraft and other SOPs to meet mission requirement.
• Leverage language skills and cultural/area knowledge in support of OSINT activities to include Arabic, Farsi and/or Persian, Korean, Mandarin, and Russian.

• Commercial alternatives to a joint-accredited OSINT course include but are not limited to: CASO (Black Horse Solutions), and SEC 497 and SEC 587 (SANS Institute).

Experience

• 1-3 years experience in OSINT to include Military, Law Enforcement, and/or Intelligence Community.

Job Overview

The Imagery Analyst is responsible for conducting hands-on full motion imagery analysis, producing intelligence products derived from any airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance platform to include imagery analysis on a broad range of issues. In addition they will be supporting national security objectives, senior policy makers, the DoD, USMC, and/or IC initiatives.

Essential Functions

• Conduct real time 24/7/365-366 full motion video exploitation in a shift work environment maintaining Situational Awareness (SA) and understanding of the mission and the intelligence requirements.
• Research Cedalion or its follow-on and other multi-disciplined IC databases to acquire amplifying or clarifying information in support of research and analysis.
• Produce standard and non-standard FMV imagery analysis products, such as motion imagery summary reports and tailored mission-specific products.
• Conduct imagery research and analysis by researching imagery to meet current USMC requirements to include, but not limited to, NRO Overhead Systems, aircraft, FMV, and civil/commercial sensors to answer detailed Information Requirements.
• Create and provide metadata to support structured observations in support of the DoD, USMC, and/or IC initiatives.
• Capable of simultaneously being able to view, exploit, record and touch type (minimum of 40 words/minute) live FMV exploitation comments in support of operational FMV missions.
• Identify targets and target-related activities by understanding Order of Battle for mission related geolocations.
• Conduct target research in support of exploitation activities to provide amplifying information and context to information requirements and to inform the exploitation team.
• Analyze existing information and intelligence to identify gaps in coverage/knowledge in order to investigate all sources of intelligence to fill those gaps.
• Conduct data mining using various databases, open-source reporting, digital video archives, and other intelligence sources.
• Provide multimedia production in support of exploitation activities.
• Provide peer-to-peer assessments when analysts require evaluations and when analysts need to be tested on their position.
• Conduct multi-INT research, exploitation, organization, prioritization, processing, analysis, production, and dissemination of intelligence information in accordance with (IAW) Government priorities, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
