WGL - Advisor, Commercial Development, Data Centers & Power Solutions
The Advisor, Commercial Development, Data Centers & Power Solutions plays a key role in the development, evaluation, and commercialization of data center and distributed power generation opportunities. This position sits at the intersection of commercial development, project economics, market analysis, and customer engagement. Working closely with business development, engineering, operations, and finance teams, you will help advance opportunities from origination through execution by developing financial models, evaluating commercial structures, supporting customer proposals, and providing insights that drive investment and growth decisions. This is an exciting opportunity for an analytically driven professional who is passionate about energy infrastructure, emerging power solutions, and helping customers navigate a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain financial models supporting distributed generation, bridge power, microgrid, data center, and energy infrastructure opportunities
Evaluate project economics, commercial structures, and customer pricing strategies to support investment and development decisions
Perform sensitivity analyses and assess risks to identify mitigation strategies and optimize opportunity value
Support investment decision-making and commercial approval processes through rigorous economic analysis
Develop customer proposals, commercial offers, executive presentations, and business cases
Structure and evaluate energy-as-a-service solutions, power purchase agreements, and other innovative commercial arrangements
Assess alternative technical and commercial configurations to identify optimal customer solutions
Lead opportunity screening and qualification activities while supporting market and competitor analysis
Analyze lost and abandoned opportunities to identify trends and improve commercial effectiveness
Participate in customer meetings and business development activities, helping translate complex concepts into compelling value propositions
Develop materials that support customer engagement, negotiations, and follow-up discussions
Create, maintain, and analyze opportunity forecasts, development plans, and commercial assumptions
Partner with engineering, operations, finance, and external stakeholders to advance opportunities through the development lifecycle
Provide commercial insights and recommendations to senior leadership that support strategic decision-making and project advancement
What You'll Bring
Experience in commercial development, strategy, finance, project economics, energy markets, infrastructure, consulting, or a related field
Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis capabilities
Experience evaluating project economics, investment opportunities, and commercial structures
Demonstrated ability to develop customer-facing proposals, presentations, and business cases
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights
Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across commercial, technical, operational, and leadership teams
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Energy Systems, or a related discipline

The role offers a competitive salary range of $114,200 to $166,450 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, this position is eligible for our Short-Term Incentive compensation program. Employees also enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and wellness coverage, retirement savings programs, and paid time off.
