This role is based in Auckland and offers a hybrid working approach, with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.
We’re looking for a Technical Specialist to join the tīma and work across our Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms. In this role, you’ll have a strong focus on virtual machine lifecycle management, reusable Terraform patterns, and standard operating environment (SOE) images.
You’ll help us strengthen the standards, automation, and engineering practices that support reliable infrastructure delivery across BNZ. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact by creating platform solutions that are consistent, repeatable, and well managed.
What are some of the day-to-day tasks you’ll be involved in?
Managing and improving Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms.
Supporting the full virtual machine lifecycle, including provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning for on-premise and cloud VM’s.
Developing, maintaining, and improving reusable Terraform patterns that support consistent infrastructure delivery.
Creating and maintaining standard operating environment (SOE) images for Windows and Linux platforms.
Creating playbooks in Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
Troubleshooting complex platform issues and partnering with platform teams to deliver secure, reliable, and supportable solutions.

What skills and experience would help you succeed in this role?
Strong experience supporting Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
Hands-on experience managing virtual machines across their full lifecycle for both on premise VM’s and cloud.
Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Knowledge of standard operating environment (SOE) image creation and maintenance.
Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting.
Experience with developing and maintaining AAP playbooks
Strong platform troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
An understanding of patching, security, compliance, and operational risk within enterprise environments.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with engineering and delivery teams.
A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on simplifying and automating platform services.
