About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Student Accessibility Services, the Student Accessibility Case Manager supports the university’s commitment to equitable, inclusive, and accessible education by working directly with students who experience disabilities, chronic health conditions, mental health conditions, neurodivergence, and other barriers to participation in academic life.

The Student Accessibility Case Manager works in a team-based model to assess students’ functional needs, develop and coordinate individualized academic accommodations, and provide ongoing advising and support. The role works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners while maintaining student privacy, promoting self-advocacy, and ensuring that accommodations are implemented effectively and consistently.

As the Student Accessibility Case Manager, you will:  

• Meet individually with students to understand their disability-related experiences, functional limitations, and academic needs;
• Review relevant documentation and determine appropriate academic accommodations in accordance with university policies and applicable legislation;
• Develop, communicate, and coordinate individualized accommodation plans;
• Advise students on accommodation processes, academic options, campus resources, and strategies for successful participation in university life;
• Support students in developing self-advocacy, self-management, and communication skills;
• Consult with instructors, faculty and staff regarding the implementation of approved accommodations while protecting student confidentiality;
• Collaborate with campus partners, including academic departments, Mental Health and Wellness Services, Student Health Services, Housing, advising, and other student-support units;
• Coordinate accommodations such as accessible course materials, testing accommodations, assistive technology, note-taking support, interpreters, captioning, and other disability-related supports, as applicable;
• Respond to accommodation-related concerns and assist in resolving barriers or implementation issues;
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely student records in accordance with privacy legislation and university policies;
• Make referrals and/or recommendations for scholarships, awards, Ministry bursaries, and other disability-related funding supports;
• Participate in case consultations and contribute to complex accommodation assessments and problem-solving;
• Provide education and consultation to faculty, staff, and students on accessibility, disability inclusion, universal design, and accommodation practices;
• Provide support to parents and supporters during transition to university and disability-related needs;
• Contribute to accessibility initiatives, outreach, workshops, and institutional projects; and
• Keep current with developments in accessibility legislation, disability services, assistive technology, inclusive education, and relevant professional practices.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Completion of a Master’s level Degree in a related industry, such as Applied Disability Studies, Social Work, or Applied Psychology or 5 + years of relevant experience in a post-secondary environment;  
• A minimum of 2 years of progressive and related experience, working specifically with individuals with mental health disabilities, preferably in a post-secondary environment;  
• Knowledge and understanding of the functional impact of a disability, related concerns and the resulting impact on student’s academic and/or class, and/or social participation in a post-secondary educational environment;  
• Expertise in a strengths-based approach assisting students to problem-solve learning issues, deliver solution-focused support and recommend accommodations;  
• Demonstrated experience delivering disability-related counselling e.g., academic transition, course specific concerns, employment issues; crisis intervention and case management services;  
• Ability to assess complex situations, exercise professional judgment, and make well-reasoned recommendations;
• Understanding of Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES) mandates for providing Student Accessibility Services, as well as Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) legislative requirements;
• Effective communication skills and the ability to advocate for the needs of students with various stakeholders (including faculty, professionals, and agencies);
• The ability to provide input, establish goals and participate in service direction;
• Creative, ability to develop innovative ways/strategies/programs to meet a diverse need for students with disabilities;
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion; and
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and student success.

Salary and Total Rewards: 

• Job Grade (L), Salary Scale $67,721.00 - 108,353.00;
• Target Hiring Range: $67,721.00 - $71,000.00*
