JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
About the Role
Astro Arena is seeking a Application Developer(Contract) to join our team in Kuala Lumpur.
You will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and expanding our existing sports event and broadcast applications. These platforms support live sporting events, including live scoring, competition management, statistics, digital scoreboards, broadcast graphics, and event operations.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on real-world sports technology solutions that are actively used in live sporting events and broadcasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, enhance, and expand existing web applications and platforms.
- Develop new features and modules based on business and operational requirements.
- Build and support backend services and RESTful APIs.
- Integrate applications with third-party and internal systems.
- Optimize application, database, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and bugs.
- Support application deployment and ongoing system improvements.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and operational teams.
- Ensure code quality, system reliability, and maintainability.
- Provide support for live sports event operations when required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Experience with PHP and Laravel Framework.
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and database design principles.
- Experience with real-time technologies such as WebSocket, Socket.io, or Laravel Reverb.
- Experience integrating with third-party APIs and services.
- Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
- Experience in media, broadcasting, sports technology, or real-time content platforms.
- Familiarity with software testing and secure coding practices.
- Passion for sports, active participation in sports, or interest in sporting events will be an advantage.
