We are currently looking to add a motivated and analytical individual to join our Shop/Maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in fleet, automotive, truck, heavy equipment, or maintenance operations and will support the efficient management of shop activities, work orders, repair costs, and equipment downtime.
Job Duties:
- Monitor daily shop operations, repair activities, equipment downtime, and open work orders to ensure timely completion.
- Review work orders to ensure mechanic labour, parts, outside services, and all applicable costs are accurately recorded.
- Analyze repair costs, downtime, and maintenance activities to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date work order statuses and follow up on outstanding repairs.
- Review mechanic expense reports and coordinate with the Maintenance department for approval.
- Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance and repairs while monitoring costs, timelines, and quality.
- Maintain accurate repair records, invoices, work orders, and maintenance documentation in the company database.
- Prepare reports related to maintenance costs, work orders, equipment downtime, and shop performance.
- Conduct or coordinate equipment inspections and ensure required documentation and compliance requirements are met.
- Work closely with Shop, Maintenance, Parts, Warehouse, and Operations teams to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
- Support a strong safety culture by ensuring maintenance concerns are identified and addressed promptly.
- Travel to different company terminals may be required.
Requirements
- 2–3+ years of experience in fleet, automotive, truck, heavy equipment, maintenance, service, or shop operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to review costs, work orders, and operational data.
- Previous experience with truck/trailer maintenance, parts, or repair operations is preferred.
- Experience coordinating with mechanics, vendors, or maintenance teams is an asset.
- 310T license or mechanical background is an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge.
- Experience with maintenance management, ERP, or computerized work-order systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of Ministry regulations, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, and shop practices is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
